Was in for our daughter's birthday, was able to book a dog table online, not able to do this at another restaurant. Staff were really friendly and helpful. No issues with changing some items with meals. Dog got water brought out without asking. Only one small gripe, and in all Restaurants, would be good if the dog menu was placed at dog friendly tables and not on the toilet wall. Definitely a great wee restaurant with amazing staff, food was great too

What a fantastic place to have a family meal. Can’t thank Mags enough for keeping us fed and watered and always with a friendly smile and laugh. Thank you for making our family Easter meal one to remember.

Today's carvery was stunning! Whatever you did to the roast tatties, keep doing it. Meat was delicious too!!! See you next week!!

Service was very slow, there only appeared to be 2 staff on duty. Food was very good when it did arrive and we all enjoyed our meals.

Under cooked meat! I ordered medium cooked steak and it was rare and my misses chicken tasted like fish even though they said fish was of the menu that day when we were ordering beware here!

We were a party of six and booked in advance. After being seated we waited 40 minutes before someone took our order. The wait for drinks was 15 minutes and then another 20 minutes before the food arrived. We noticed that there seemed to be only one person attending tables with other staffserving drinks at the bar. They did not seem particularly busy and could have helped out by serving tables. My wife ordered soup and it came in a dessert bowl with no spoon. There was bread supplied but no butter. There was hardly enough soup to fill four spoonfuls and it was not hot. Apart from the soup disaster most of our party had the carvery and we have no complaints about the quality or the presentation of the food.

Cheerful welcome having pre booked. Offered a choice of seat. Menu choice reasonable though limited for pescatarian. Good drinks choices. Server was exceptional. Prompt delivery of food, polite and pleasant. A real asset to the restaurant. Good portion size. Some signs of wear and tear to building and tables. Would visit again.

Wanted fish n chips ..got told no fish today..so ordered lamb kebab....with flat bread and chips ...(had family with me various orders 6, off us so not cheap) after 52mins order arrived...handfulls off frozen chips a flat bread with very small amount of over cooked very crispy sooner meat ..I honestly think the got cheap frozen kebab meat from farmfoods my 4th vist to this place last 3 been good but my first off 2025 ..under staffed cutting corners and food thats supermarket frozen food .....cooked and passed off as fresh..real chips fresh flat bread and proper donner meat .. Avoid this place..go to burger king ..or mc Donald's..

Booked 2 tiles as we had dogs on arrival had to wait until customersweremovedas thetzbles were not reserved had to go towards to order drinks as no one came to table service was slow and had to ask several times for water also disappointing the carvery is no longer available except Sunday

A pleasant meal, easy to enter ( am on crutches), disabled parking near entrance, no steps at all as toilets and everywhere all on one level. Menu had plenty of choice, cooked to order, no need to pre-book as we went off peak, attentive staff but not in our faces, were left to enjoy our food and own company, great evening.

Always enjoy going into the whaterwheel for some food and drinks. Mags as always was an absolute delight. Nothing is ever a bother and always a smile on her face. Food was lovely and service was fantastic Thanks also to Gregg for making sure we were all good throughout Definitley be back (Again lol)

Myself & 2 friends regularly go to Waterwheel, PG for 'cake club'! The service is always excellent from all staff. We were there yesterday and served by Margaret who is always efficient and attentive.

I was here last Sunday for a family meal and there were almost 40 of us so all eating different meals, some had the carvery and some ordered from the main menu. We booked our table on line with no problem and easily increased the number of guests attending. On arrival we were seated at our table which had been reserved for us and all our guests. Service and food was excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals...mains and desserts. Looking forward to a return visit.

Stopped for a quick bite of lunch and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, attentive and pleasant. Mags was lovely and looked after us very well. The Mac and cheese was tasty and very cheesy which is exactly what I needed!

Went here myself for a wee bite to eat and a pint. The food and service was spot on. Mags was particularly delightful to deal with and was attentive. I didn’t catch the gentleman’s name that served me but he was also pleasant and made sure I was taken care of. Starter, main and a pint was about £30 with tip which is reasonable, main was a massive portion.

Lovely experience, was in yesterday and Stuart was a great server.

Came in yesterday after visiting family in Gourock, got the hunters chicken and it was delicious. Was served by a young man named Stuart who made our experience wonderful, can’t wait to come back!

Last day in Scotland so we had our last meal at the Waterwheel again tonight. Tammy and Stuart were fantastic. Although they were the only two at the front of house this evening everyone was looked after with the same courtesy and professionalism.

We used the online booking system for our table and it was so easy and quick to use. The staff where FANTASTIC although they where very busy they ALL still had time to make a fuss of our 3 wee dogs which was lovely. The 3 adults had the carvery and the dogs had chicken and sausages 😋. Then we had 2 stickey toffee puddings and a banana ban office pie all to die for. We never felt rushed at all but was made feel special. THANK YOU ALL!!!

Lovely meal, pleasant staff. It ended there. The service was terrible. 2 members of staff looking after tables, bar and paying bill at 6.00pm. Intended to have a dessert but waited too long and decided to leave. Probably won't be back which is a pity as the food was great.

I had a great cowboy burger and a pint. What else can I say.

Arrived 11.45 doors locked staff inside, called said just opening and kitchen not open till 12 , no wonder there’s never any cars in car park

Service was great but we had a family carvery in the sunday and the beef was like trying to eat tow rope put in a complaint as we had to leave the meat wasnt offered a refund we payed and left wont be back

Took the mother in law out for dinner and can’t fault any of our meals. All the food was lovely and the staff extremely friendly.

Standard carvery type pub chain. Food very average, the sharing nachos, wings and garlic mushrooms definitely not worth the money spent but cannot fault the waiting staff, very attentive and friendly on a busy sunday afternoon

Fantastic food, staff brill place to go

Worst lunch I have had for years. Ordered fish finger sandwich and whilst it took 40 minutes to arrive the bread was curled up at the edges and I got about 8 chips. The bread was slightly crispy and very dry like it had been under a heat lamp for an hour. The fish fingers I honestly can’t believe whoever heated them up in the kitchen (clearly not a chef) still served them. The batter was soft like it had been microwaved and the fish inside was shocking, luke warm and a big gap between the fish and the batter. I suppose there are two elements to this. The people in the kitchen can only do the best with the ingredients they have. However to even have the brass neck to present that to somebody is shocking. It must have been clear to whoever put that out that it was unacceptable. Either that or you have people who simply don’t care what the customer gets. The person I complained to was very polite and apologetic and agreed. I was asked if I wanted something else and had the steak baguette. He will make it right away was the comment. 25 mins later my medium steak baguette arrived. Very well done, chewy steak arrived and to top of the shocker of a lunch the baguette was chewy. It seemed like it wasn’t fresh and probably again heated up… badly. I honestly wish I had recorded the experience for you to see. Surely as a “restaurant” you can’t seriously be happy supplying ingredients like this? Left half my steak baguette and half the over cooked chips. Asked how my meal was and to sum it up I said it was absolutely rubbish, it used to be good here. Not a single good point in that lunch and whoever cooked: heated that up should be ashamed of themselves as Marsdens should for supplying ingredients like that…. One bonus, I bough Birds Eye fish fingers on the way home, 6 for £2 done in the air fryer. If you wish the offer is there for your heater upper to get a lesson from me on how to heat up frozen cheap food

Lovely welcome as we came in, it's warm with a relaxed atmosphere. We had really lovely meals served by Mags, the Cowboy burgers hit the spot with a delicious just off the bbq flavour. We rolled out after lovely desserts ... Chocolate fudge cake delish Thanks mags and the behind the scene staff for a chilled evening we all enjoyed our choices.

Had a lunch in the Waterwheel with my Wife and my Mother (who has dementia and is in a wheelchair). Manager was very friendly and was very helpful. Food was excellent with alot of choice. Staff made my Mum feel comfortable which made us all feel good.

Unlike dog friendly places that make you sit outside in the cold you can take them inside here and they have a doggy menu, food for humans is good as well so a win-win all round.

Server only approached after we'd been sitting for almost 20 minutes, was told that the food we wanted was not available after pm, when browsing the menu it was a good 30% more expensive than similar eateries,

Always a welcoming team. Food wise wasn't memorable on this occasion ..been better. The chicken burger felt as if it was reheated and too dry, the small jug of chicken gravy felt out of place. Too watery for me to put on a burger with burger sauce..Hungry enough to finish it all and get on my way ..will be back.

We were a party of 6 - 4 adults and 2 children. Bobby made us very welcome. The restaurant was clean, cool and airy on a hot sunny day. Food was delicious and nicely presented. Overall a lovely lunch. We will definitely return.

Dropped in for an early tea due to convenience and have been pleasantly surprised. We didn't expect there to be a good an offering for vegans as there was and the food was great. I especially liked the cauliflower wings and the soup was lovely. The food wasn't what earned the 5 star review though, that was the staff through and through. The staff were friendly and did everything they could to accommodate our diet. They even offered to cook our food in separate friers. They anticipated any concerns over products such as the butter being vegan and really made us feel welcome. Amazing service. We'll be back.

Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. A great Sunday carvery. Delicious! Only negative is that the haggis was sticking to the spoon so it was very difficult to get onto the plate.

No faults whats so ever beautiful food very helpful staff my partners little girls birthday we visited and I had nothing to cut the cake and wrap it in they went and got me a knife and tin foil such a lovely family place very clean will definitely be recommending to family and friends I will also be back.

Went for Sunday carvery at weekend with family and was asked if wanted pigs in blankets we said yes .on further checking the bill after leaving noticed for 3 of us to have 2 pigs in blankets each is £7.50 for 6 that's £1.25 each for a sausage added to a meal .I'm disgusted with it and can assure no return .had the chap said how much they were no way would I have paid it so be careful what you order.

Amazing food and service during our visit. Even managed to enjoy a drink in the sun and beer garden while the kids played in the play area outside.

Altogether a lovely experiences, good service, lovely staff , Mags, Grieg and Liam , outstanding hospitality. Food hot and plentiful . No complaints from us. Thank you Waterwheel.
