By far, the best burger in Hull. I have been told to try dope burger many times and finally, the chance came. I am so glad I did. The burger was tender and juicy with a lovely smokey sauce. The sticky onions were sweet and very sticky. The only downside is everything is so jucy and delicious that I needed to wash my jumper with the drips!! It is also quite expensive but worth every penny in my view!

Same as other reviews . Order always missing stuff. Can never get through on the phone to resolve. These guys still owe me £8 for a missing burger . I stopped going ages ago. Management obviously don’t care hence no responses to any reviews anywhere.

Don't order delivey, it will be late and the order will likely be wrong. We've been coming here for a while, when we collect it is spot on, ace food. When we get it delivered it is a completely different story. Often missing significant items (like a burger), then when you try to call to have it corrected, you can't get through. This isn't a one off....

I was passing and hungry. Got some chips for myself and my Daughter. £3 for the smallest bag of take away chips I have ever had. They were very poor quality, greasy and you could tell the fat they had been cooked in was months old! It left a funny taste. Im glad I didnt get a burger considering the recent reviews! It used to be good. I wont be going again, even if it were only for a bag of chips!

Seems there are others that have had the same from this place. Please avoid if you care for your health. When I rang them they told me to F off.

The chicken gave me food poisoning. I was incredibly ill. I can see from a lot of other reviews people are saying the same thing and there's even images of undercooked chicken clearly from them. I'm really not sure how this place is still running.

You can make a better burger at home without giving an absurd amount of money to these fools. I've been a loyal customer for years but this was the last time I'll buy from this restaurant. I'll not go into details but milkshake was complete waste of money. Burgers, too, are often not to the standard you're paying for. These guys are too inconsistent and don't deserve the jobs they have. Delivery driver is to blame and nothing was done to amend the issue.

Some of the best food poisoning in Hull. Really disgusting. Sent wrong items. Inedible overcooked chicken. Small burgers. And cheap chips. All incredibly overpriced, the owners are on a different planet. Average delivery times of 1hr 20mins. Cold food. Not really good enough for a rating.

£10 for an average burger didn't get chips with it for that price. Menu is over priced.

PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING: Crying shame what this place has become. Years ago I would use hannas gourmet burger (gourmet burger now.) but tried dope burger back when it was just in front of water front and the owner was still there flipping burgers. The dope sauce had me hooked. The guy worked Christmas day giving out free burgers to the homeless which was a nice touch and nice to know he cared about the local community. So to say the least when wag wan opened I was thrilled. Its sad to see that it's been a slow decline ever since. First orders was started been late, then staff started been rude and flippant when you would enquire about your order. What took the biscuit and was the straw that broke the camels very strained back was our latest order... We ordered through just eat to find prices had gone up, with everything that was happening in the world we thought you know what they are a local business and built around good ethics so what the hey. We ordered and had a estimated delivery time of 60 minutes. I did my best to chat the misses up see if I could pass the time and get lucky but she declined as there would still be another 53 minutes until the main course but promised me afterwards I would get the desert. After 75 minutes we decided to call the number provided only to find out we had not only rang someone that sounded like an extra in pineapple express but the number provided was in fact the Beverly road shop. Needless to say we was bemused. Left with no way to contact the store we tried the number on google, this time to only be answered by a voice mail which sounded like Kevin and Perry. With no other choice and now having waited a whopping 2 hours we requested our money back. Guess what not only did I not get lucky that night but we have also not received a refund or the take away. So with a heavy heart I will not be returning as a customer after many years. How ever all is not lost we returned to what is now gourmet burger and I must say, they are far the superior burger, wings, and customer service is impleciable. I look forward to trying everything else on the menu as its cheaper too.

WAGWAN CHICKEN... WOWWW... well what to say about the food here.. ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING 💯.. probably the tastiest food to grace my mush 🤪🤣.. the flavours are just beautiful.. my order was Gluten free & thankfully can say I've never been cross contaminated here.. we had the jerk brisket & jerk chicken thighs & every mouthful was a reggae-dance in my mouth.. certainly excellent value for money & the staff are always helpful if you can't decide what you want.. the chicken brisket burgers are incredible and the Buffalo sauce they do is insane with a burst of heat & intense flavours.. 🤪🤪.. Try it. You won't be disappointed.. Thanks you guys at Wagwan.. be back soon 🥰🥰👍👍

Order some food on Saturday night they only sent half the order and got that wrong! Rang up asking for the second half of the order and to correct the burger that had sent, to have them rudely say they don't know when they will be able to send it and after questioning him, he just put the phone on the side and ignored me for about a minute until he hung up on me!! I rang back they didnt pick up and when they finally answered they just told me to request a refund. No apology from them and they still haven't refunded me it was almost a £40 order!!

You should probably just get McDonald's instead... We pre-ordered our food for delivery and yet it was still an hour late. Some of our food was missing. Our brownies had been put at the bottom of the bag and subsequently had been crushed by the food on top, this also caused burger grease to leak into the brownie packaging. Overall, the food was mediocre, the delivery was terrible and you should just save yourself £30 and get a McDonald's. Perhaps Dope Burger should spend less money on pointless branded bags and packaging and invest in better delivery practices.

Ordered tonight and safe to say very disappointed in wagwan this time around, burger buns was soggy with the paper stuck to the bottom of it, temperature wise was none exisent on both burgers and the very small portion of sweet potato fries, it's a shame as this was the best burger place in Hull at one point, won't order again from here

Food didn't arrive despite saying it did (may be a deliveroo issue to some extent). Couldn't get through to them to fix the problem, only get a slightly aggressive answer phone message.

Ordered food on Friday evening via just eat, after waiting an hour and a half app said food delivered. It wasn't, called number put through to.dope burger who gave me an invalid number for wagan. Finally got a number that just kept ringing. Eventually dope burger got them to deliver the food. A burger missing. By now 2 hours had gone by. Food was freezing cold and wasn't nice,.milkshakes hadn't even been made properly. When I called wagan about the missing burger , they were very rude, agreed to.deliver but it never arrived. Basically they've stolen £8.50 from me. , which isn't a lot but it's the principle ill never use again and won't be recommending. Appalling service, Appalling food.

Delivery was 45mins late after pre-ordering at 12pm. Burger bin and lettuce was soggy, fried chicken was tiny and not crispy. Really disappointed in my purchase. Maybe next time I will pick up the food myself. I feel it was sat around a while waiting to be delivered. Loads of grease in the bottom of the bag

Im all seriousness is this a joke? £7.50.. no toppings or anything. Literally picked up two chicken thighs and dropped them in a tray. Don't even taste any different to something id grab from asda deli. Look at reviews were they are covered in toppings etc. Do you need to spend £20 on them to look remotely exciting? Would never come again

Called in this evening after watching the BBC2 programme and watching a you tube review. Massively disappointed, the staff seemed uninterested and didn't seem to know what was what, the food was Luke warm and tbh fairly tasteless, I so wanted it to be good but I'm sorry it simply wasn't.

Burgers are great, also try the bajangas, so much food in one tortilla!

Ordered from here plenty of times and I'm well aware that the delivery time is overly hit and miss, and they sometimes forget items, but tonight it came and the 2 portions of chips were freezing, curry was half portion at best, as well as the fact that there are normally about 5 of those courgette type items in there but tonight there was one and it was hard to chew through, the chicken strips were cold too and they forgot the blue cheese mayo dip - Complete waste of 29 pound. Won't be ordering from here again.

This is the only decent burger place in Hull were I actually really enjoy the sides too!! Dope is a good burger, but the chips are overprices and rubbish! If you have a big appetite and want decent sides with your burger this is where you need to be :D

Ordered via just eat as usual and food came after an hour as advised (we live a fair distance away so glad they deliver at all). Unfortunately they had forgotten to put in sauces that we had requested - a quick call to wagwan and they advised they would deliver these ASAP. To be fair I didnt really expect this swiftly due to previous reviews but in all credit to wagwan, the sauces arrived 20mins later (we live a 20min drive away) along with a brownie as an apology which was very nice. Contrary to some we have never had anything but good service from wagwan even as above when they make mistakes (everyone is human). Will continue going here as the burgers are the best by a mile in the UK

I ordered beef curry with spiced rice and Bajan cheesy fries. Firstly it was over half an hour late, that wasn't much of an issue, it was still hot. The beef curry was very oily but it also had crunchy burnt bits in like it had been burnt on the bottom of the pan and scraped off, however the diced beef couldn't be faulted. The rice was very tasty, the best part of the meal. I wish I hadn't poured my curry all over it. If I was to give any sort of criticism of the rice I would say it was oily. Apart from that, it was delicious. The cheesy chips tasted what I can only describe as strange. I had one mouthful and threw it away. I don't like giving bad reviews and I love carribean food but they need to up their game a bit. I think my rating of 3 (average) is generous to be fair. Sorry Wagwan :(

Appalling service. Ordered via app. When food was 30 mins late I contacted the restaurant and was told it was on its way. 30 mins later still not arrived, so I called again and was told it had left 30 mins earlier but the delivery driver had a s#*t load of orders and it might be a while. When it finally arrived items were missing and incorrect. When I called to discuss this they were really rude, blamed the app and said it was it their fault. Looking at recent posts I'm not the first who's had this sort of service - AVOID!

Unbelievably bad service. Ordered food via Uber app. After delivery was 25 min late, called and told by very unfriendly girl it was on its way. 30 mins later still no food, called again - very rude man said it had left 30 mins ago but the driver had a s#*t load of orders. Eventually arrived 90 mins late, one item wrong and one item missing. Called back only to be told it was Uber's app's fault. No apology at any point. Avoid!!!!

I was a regular customer until my experience last night. The delivery turned up one hour late and was incorrect. No slaw, normal chips and incorrect burger. I'm not so bothered about the delivery being a bit late if busy but to have it incorrect and then have to wait another hour for the correct order has put me off ordering from this takeaway in the future. The correct order also had a burnt bun and was not up to usual standard. Not what you expect for £20.

Service was terrible. Ran late so I called up. They were unpleasant but said it was on the way. 45 minutes later than that I called again to ask and was told it was my fault as we had ordered from kingswood. Was then made to speak to the manager who was also unpleasant and made out it was my fault the food was late. It is good food but I will not order it again. It

Absolutely gorgeous bajan sauce, the star of the meal. The boneless thighs were juicy and flavourful. Chilli mac and cheese was good. I got the wfc blue cheese and bacon burger, not sure where the blue cheese element was however, the amount of American style cheese, bacon and sauce made up for it. The chicken burger was delicious, good size and had a really flavourful coating. Would recommend this place the most out of the dope places.

I have discovered a treasure 🥳. Its a world class burger shop. All ingredients are top quality. The meat is meaty and delicious, the bun is tasty, the chips are serious, sauces are from heaven. I pronounce this shop is my official go to for burger

Best CHicken burgers in the whole of the UK. I've lived in London all of my life and this is better than any gourmet chicken burger place there. Also the customer service is second to none. I run a business and I can tell when businesses care about their customer satisfaction and these guys/ladies certainly do. I wasn't happy with something and they went over and beyond. If you are reading this wondering if you should try one of their burgers then what are you waiting for? Try it and you won't regret it!

If you're expecting the speed of a typical fast food burger outlet, then you're going to the wrong place. Everything here is freshly made and cooked to order. The chicken and the burgers are just so tasty, and try the sweet potato fries, you will not be disappointed. If you have room, try the milkshakes, a true taste sensation, and really thick. In the pre Covid-19 days, I've been known to do a 60 mile round trip for their food. If you're in Hull, visit this place, and keep it going in these difficult times.

Been here numerous times & every time the chicken burgers have been amazing. Really tasty food & big (Hull sized) portions. Meat lovers paradise! There is very limited choice for vegetarians though. You can choose a between a vegan curry or a vegetable burrito, which is quite bland (apparently).

I ordered a delivery for 8pm and it originally turned up at 5.20, I informed the driver and they did bring the food back again at the correct time. The food was really good however, I ordered a blondie in butterscotch sauce and just received a small piece of brownie. Overall nice food but seems very pricey compared with other amazing take aways like Poco and Pizza Hot.

Not only was it 2 hours late the burger cold and greasy and chicken wings was red so wasnt even cooked properly what a embarrassment

Quite simply the best street food I’ve had in Hull! A little taste of Jamaica in a quiet corner of West Hull and even though Wagwan Chicken has been open for 3 years, this was my first visit...it will NOT be my last. Recommend the chicken bajanga, like a Jamaican burrito, need to eat more Jamaican food. EAT HERE

Great variety, well cooked and very reasonably priced. Lots of choices is sauces from sweet barbecue to Korean hot. Better than KFC anyday.

Came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and came back as food was amazing would fully recommend .

We placed an order for 4 people (a reasonably large order so we assumed it may be a little late) on the app at around 9pm, we received a confirmation email upon placing the order and was expecting the order to be delivered by 10pm. With no food by 10:20pm we called for an update on the order, to be informed it was our for delivery. By 11pm we still had not received our order, so called again to be told our order was not received by the takeway at all and they had closed down for the night. I was disappointed by the lack of communication from the restaurant, as a first time customer I will think twice about going here.

Food is good but staff taking order very rude. Constantly saying what because she couldn't hear. Gave me a 1/2 hour waiting time. 1hr 30 mins later and a call to the shop where the manager and her were shouting down the telephone the burger arrived. Good food but rubbish order taking and delivery time soon the rubbish service will over take the good name and good food. Love the product but the for the money and the way we were treated not again. A piece of advice give at least 1.5 hours for food to be delivered if you are lucky that is.
