Vulcano Etna in Colchester

How lucky we are to have this place in Colchester. The food was delicious and the portions generous when compared to many chain Italian restaurants. We had a tasty selection of breads and olives to start , followed by delicious arancini and then a sublime pistachio tiramisu. Relaxed and friendly service too. Highly recommended.

A very quaint restaurant. Food is very good quality, tasty and reasonably priced. Tony and his team are chatty and attentive.

Wow! What an absolute gem of a place. We had the most amazing time, from the moment we entered, a very warm welcome, to the delicious food, everything was perfect. My partner who is usually very hard to impress (!) found everything wonderful and said it's been a very long time to have food at this standard. The owner, Tony was friendly and engaging, we loved the atmosphere and sat outside after dinner for a good couple of hours watching the world go by (with a very good bottle of Chianti!) I highly recommend. Thank you again Volcano Etna!

Amazing food with outstanding and friendly staff, highly recommend. The canolli was hand made on the spot and the drinks were excellent.

Cosy italian restaurant in downtown Colchester, run by a true sicilian guy. Warm hospitality, good food (and I am italian!). The arancini were great, and service impeccable. Also the "cannoli" dessert a treat that had nothing to envy to the ones in Sicily! Well done!

There were eight in our family party and the service was second to none, Sicilian owner, Tony, was friendly, efficient and helpful. The restaurant is very small, only 25 seats downstairs and another 20 upstairs, so booking would be essential. The food is all home cooked to order and was absolutely delicious, the best Italian food I've had and very reasonably priced.

We had a really enjoyable night out at Vulcano Etna. Traditional and authentic, high quality Italian food. The starter of mixed meats and cheese was fantastic and we loved the pasta for our main course. The desserts were also great. Good selection of drinks on the menu too.

We visited for dinner last night as a group of 4, what a lovely place! The hosts were friendly and funny without being overbearing and the food was absolutely delicious. The portions of food were huge, you won’t go home hungry that’s for sure. Lovely evening, delicious food and reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning for a second visit!

Truly amazing! Real Italian food, home made, great value for money. This is the kind of quality Italian food I havr only experienced in London so well chuffed we’ve got this in Colchester! Grazie 🤩

2nd visit to Etna and once again was excellent food with fantastic friendly service, really is a great Sicilian restaurant, a real must place to eat in Colchester

What a find! We had a fantastic lunch here on Valentines Day. We chose 2 different starters and 2 different pastas from the lunch menu, which, at £15 for 2 courses or £20 for 3 courses, was incredibly good value. We chose the Caprese salad and the Arancini, both were absolutely delicious. Both of the pasta dishes, Rigatoni with pesto & ricotta and Penne with Nduja were incredible, so tasty and full of flavour. We couldn't resist the Pistachio Tiramisu, and were glad we didn't! Everything we had was absolutely perfect, made with the best quality ingredients and prepared beautifully from scratch. We can't wait to go back soon for more of the authentic home cooked Sicilian food.

My brother recommended this place for lunch. Everything was homemade and cooked to perfection. The owners were very welcoming and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. We were not rushed out and had plenty of time to enjoy a three course meal and coffee. This was the first pistachio tiramisu I’ve ever had and I cannot wait to revisit and have it again!

We couldn’t decide where to eat. We searched locally and found this place. Thank God. How lovely. Simple menu, fantastic food. Lovely choice of drinks. We will be coming back again and again. We loved it.

We were visiting a friend in Manningtree who booked this restaurant as she knows I love authentic Italian food. Having visited Sicily & loving the cuisine there it was so good to come here & be served exceptional food. We were greeted by Simone & Antonelli who were fabulous hosts. They were so friendly & keen to please. We ordered food and were told it wouldn't be quick as it was all freshly made by Mama. When it arrived we were blown away by how fabulous it was. Every mouthful was a joy. Incredible flavours & fresh homemade pasta. For dessert we all chose Canoli which was prepared by Antonelli in front of us. Wow! This was delicious and took me back to our days in Sicily. He also gave us a sample of the homemade pistachio tiramisu which was also delicious. Mama came out from the kitchen to chat to us & we complimented her on her amazing food. We would highly recommend this restaurant for fabulous authentic Sicilian food & the best, friendliest service. We live more then a 3 hour drive away but will definitely back!

Popped in for breakfast having read good things about this new Sicilian cafe/restaurant and wasn’t disappointed. The menu is small and on arriving we were told that the cooked breakfast was unavailable but mamma would make us a tasty omelette. My N’djua and mozzarella panini was lovely and my partner had a fabulous omelette topped with pesto, and a bagel with cream cheese on the side. 3 fantastic coffees later and a bill not much more than £25 to pay we were very happy customers. This is an independent family restaurant which has only been open for a week and we were introduced to the whole family which was a nice touch. At the moment there is no alcohol licence which will be in place in a fortnight, but in the mean time customers are encouraged to take their own drinks if they choose. If you are a fan of reasonably priced, well cooked Italian food then do pay a visit to support this little gem.
