The best meal I have had in a restaurant ever.... Period. Staff were great, talked me through the traditional dishes . I chose the hanging marinated steak. On the first bite my mouth exploded ! I can not put into words what it tasted like.... You just need to try it. Do not go anywhere else in .... Also brilliant atmosphere, everyone was smiling, chatting and enjoying some of the best food I have tasted in my near 50 years on this planet! Booking is essential I walked in at 6.10 pm and there was one table being served.... Come 6 .30 it was packed ! I challenge you to be disappointed!

Really lovely Mediterranean restaurant with a pleasant ambience. We went for lunch today and were given a warm welcome and shown to our table straight away. Chose pizza and a spaghetti dish with tomato sauce. The food was delicious and promptly served. Staff were cheerful and attentive. Will return one evening to try more dishes.

Yes very friendly and good food

A portuguese gem in North Wales. Food was yummy, however I’d expected more Portuguese dishes. Its offers a mix of Portuguese/Italian cuisine. Decor is very traditional and feels like Portugal. 🇵🇹 Overall cleaning was top knock, and toilets were smelling fresh and cleaned. I’d recommend for anyone visiting Colwny Bay, as it’s worth a visit for some Portuguese roots.

Was really looking forward to going to this place as we had it highly recommended. Started badly with a wine glass with lipstick all over it on our table, that would usually be an instant no for me. It was made worse when I saw a member of staff in the back picking his nose! This was once I’d finished my meal, very off putting to say the least! We gave them the benefit of the doubt, food was average, very very garlicky. Over all, rushed service, and on a freezing cold evening there was no heating on. Won’t be going back

Second time coming due to living far away but the food was amazing and the staff are so friendly, it really feels like great service is a priority. Previous review: Really tasty food and really friendly staff. Everything we had was great but the pollo leonardo da Vinci was especially nice and tasted really fresh.

Full marks to the family that run this wonderful Italian/Portuguese restaurant. They accommodated us ( a party of 14) at very short notice, and made us feel so welcome. The menu choice is split Italian/Portuguese and all the food we chose was delicious. Thank you so much for a great evening.

A lovely family run restaurant serving authentic Portuguese food - a really hidden gem. We often visit on Fridays on our way back from the office to celebrate the end of another working week. Service is always wonderful and our usual order of various grilled meat dishes is always outstanding.

The Carneiro na Pedra (lamb on a stone) was so good. Best lamb I've had in a long time. I was able to cook it to my liking on the stone which remained hot for ages. Such a great experience. The owners and staff were very friendly and made sure we we ok with everything. We will be back. I am already recommending people to go here. Muito obrigado 👍🏻

Went for dinner. Great restaurant with friendly attentive staff. Good food and lots to choose from. Popular, so you have to book a table. I had a mushroom starter (which was plentiful and nice) and then a beef dish. Again, very tasty. The place was busy and tables turned around quickly.

An excellent restaurant for an intimate celebratory meal.

Six of us dined and we all enjoyed our meals very much! Reasonably priced food and drink, but the quality wasn't affected by this. We will definitely be going again soon! The service was great too

The food at virgilio's was delicious. The lamb was really tender and the rosemary really enhanced the flavour. The olive with bread starter was beautiful and just right for a starter it was not too big. The amereto crepe was full of ice cream which I really enjoyed. The portions were just the right size so I enjoyed them without feeling too stuffed. The atmosphere was great and it made us feel like we were in Portugal not Colwyn bay. We loved the way they bought the lamb screwer to the table and stood it on a large stand on the table. My wife also enjoyed the lovely pizza and crepe. We will certainly go there again. Thanks for a great evening out.

Arrived with some trepidation having looked at the dining opportunities in Colwyn Bay. But low expectations blown away. Fabulous restaurant. Run by people who give a damn and have a passion both for food and service. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful place! Great atmosphere, really lovely staff. The food arrived quickly, piping hot and delicious. You are not rushed when you have finished which is handy as we were too stuffed to move. Fantastic value for money as well. We will be back.

What an amazing place. Feels like a slice of heaven in the centre of the Bay. Could have easily believed I was in the Europe sunshine. Food was first class, I had the Espetada Mista; the flavour and textures were intense! So delicious.

16 booked at 7:45pm cannot fault anything. The service from the get-go was A* nothing was a problem. All members of staff were faultless. The dishes were better than what I've tasted in Lisboa. 10/10.

We had dinner at Virgilio's twice during our stay in Colwyn Bay. They serve great Italian choices as well as grilled steaks and Portuguese Espetada. Our dinners were delicious and nicely presented by very friendly and welcoming staff. We highly recommend Virgilio's for a wonderful dining experience.

Seen a comment saying it was the best food in north wales and it lived up to expectations. Everyone ordered something different and each meal was amazing, highly recommend

I love fish. I eat fish whenever I can. And this was the best fish meal i've ever had in my life. A whole sea bream cooked to perfection with crispy, well seasoned skin and soft juicy flesh. The chicken wing starter had the best fruity, spicy hot peri peri sauce you can imagine. My wife's orde of big juicy well grilled prawns was also amazing and the whole family were lovely and welcoming. I will come back to Colwyn bay just to eat here again.

This was our first ever visit to this lovely restaurant we were walk ins and they were fully booked but they managed to find us a table.( the mark of a very good restaurant) it is family owned. The service is second to none and the food even better. Hubby had the pollo franco( chicken in a cream mushroom and white wine sauce which he said was delicious-and I had spaghetti aurelia spaghetti with prawns, clams in a tomato and white wine sauce.which was equally delicious .

What an absolute gorgeous find in Colwyn bay. We have been visiting Llandudno for years and only just found this gem. The service, staff, food and atmosphere were spot on and we would highly recommend visiting. We will definitely be returning there soon.

Myself and my partner took our mum's out for a Mother's Day meal this afternoon. The staff were absolutely fantastic they were completely on top form. 👏 There was a young girl and Pedz the son who were working there on front of house. Very polite, nothing was a problem, checking to see if our food was okay. Our food was presented perfectly. We had starters and mains and there no complaints only great compliments on the food it was delicious 😋 Highly Recommend this restaurant 😊

Lovely place. 5 of us went , 2 couples and our teenage daughter. The food & service were lovely. It’s a small restaurant with a real pub next door . Perfect. We went in and were greeted by friendly, professional staff who looked after us impeccably. We will definitely return when we visit the area again. Food was tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced.

Visited on a busy Saturday night for another family celebration and yet again came away very, very happy! The food here is faultless. Every dish ordered by the 6 of us was delicious, generous and Just left us looking forward to our next visit and planning what to try next from the fabulous and varied menu. As well as the excellent food, for us what makes this a little gem of a restaurant, is the staff. Family friendly hosts who go out of their way to make you feel welcome at their restaurant and can’t do enough to make your evening enjoyable. Celebrated my 40th birthday and honestly the food was delicious, the staff are amazing, so friendly, welcoming and went above and beyond, great atmosphere and all round fantastic. Thank you to all the staff you are amazing .

This unpretentious restaurnat in the centre of Colwyn Bay is a real delight. The owner and his staff are very welcoming and attentive. It is Portugese ... so please don't call them Spanish or Italian! The food is definitely Mediterrainean, but with a subtle Portugese twist. We started with the Funghi Fritti and the Croquettes de Baalhau (home-made fishcakes). Both starters were perfect. For main we chose the Pollo Cacciatora and Picado de Frango (Chicken). Again,both dishes were excelent. Prices are reasonable, and we will certainly return!! (PS. I rarely rate anywhere as Excellent)

Excellent range, food and service

We called in on a Tuesday just before 6pm. We shared a rump steak skewer with Portuguese rice and mixed vegetables - absolutely delicious! I had warm crêpe filled with vanilla ice-cream, topped with whipped cream and butterscotch sauce for dessert and my brother indulged in a chocolate ice-cream sundae. I'd been a few times before, it's a favourite restaurant of mine in Colwyn Bay but it was the first visit for my brother and he loved it too.

Virgilio’s accommodated us at short notice despite having two large parties booked in. The service was timely and the food was excellent. The staff were really attentive and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely delicious food. I went with 4 friends, we all had something different and each of us thoroughly enjoyed it and would like to go again. Staff were very pleasant and professional, restaurant was very busy on the evening we went and it was a lovely atmosphere. Even though there were a lot of customers we could hold a conversation without being drowned out by other tables. It’s a long drive but I will definitely go again.

We really enjoyed our meal here. Sea bass dish was very much recommended and spinach cannelloni was also delicious. Organic Portuguese wine on the menu! Good service and the manager was around to chat to everyone on the evening too. Visited while on a short break but would definitely go back.

Me and my mum went for a meal here recently. The atmosphere when we came in was absolutely lovely. Throughout the night we were amazingly looked after by all of the staff. You can really tell this is an authentically ran family restaurant. We shared a couple of dishes as our main and everything from the seafood to the meat was incredible. I’m allergic to gluten and the gluten free options were both plentiful and tasted amazing. Had a lovely chat with one of the floor staff and despite being fully booked and busy they made the experience feel genuine and personal. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Best food in north wales, never disappoints

Fabulous family restaurant, would highly recommend. We’ve been going annually for over 10years!! We are always greeted with warm smiles, great customer service & fantastic food. I would highly recommend the tuna steak.

It was such a pleasant time. The food was amazing, the staff friendly and professional. The vice of the restaurant is cozy. Being from Portugal seemed like I was back home just enjoying a night out.

My wife and I visited here for her birthday. We had been looking forward to this treat and it did not disappoint. We both commented that this felt like a top restaurant in London. The service, atmosphere and food were all of the highest quality. Well done. The Blue Steak was perfect by the way, thank you so much for making my wife's birthday special.

A fairly good meal with good friends here tonight. The main course was very tasty, let down a little bit by luke warm chips and a salad that didn't look freshly prepared. The desert was made up from packet crepes with tinned cream and was disappointing considering they are not that hard to make. The background music seemed to get louder and louder as time went by, which was a little annoying 🙄 but overall it was a good night. The staff were great and very attentive, but I'm not sure that that's enough to have me racing back there anytime soon. Still rating it a 4 overall.
