Not Dog Friendly. Cake middling, coffee ok, difficult to sit IF you are allowed in as there is a big notice telling you not to move the chairs. Would not bother again.

I took an hot chocolate (which was gluten free!!): it had marshmallows, whipped cream, milk cream and I took a gluten free tart too. The cafe is close to the Unst heritage, the Viking boat and the old Unst house. So if you want to visit any of these attractions, come here for a sweet break. It's always best to book the table in advance as it's always very crowded.

We were greeted with 'we've got nothing left, only tea and cake' I said that was OK, the staff member then snapped you'll have to sit outside. No problem, that's fine I replied. Went in to order said cake - the till's not working you better have cash. I felt so unwelcome. This staff member was downright rude. A bit of a wait for our food to arrive didn't help matters. The cake we had was nice though. I do like the old fashioned tea sets they use.

The first stop at real coffee shop/ tearoom during a cycling tour of Shetland. Great choice of coffee, tea, cakes, and snacks. Quality souvenirs also available. Friendly and helpful staff ( assisted me in making contact with Boat Haven next door). The view from the window looks towards Norway. Close your eyes and imagine a very busy herring fishery that existed here in the middle 1800s. Now seabirds and lap of the tide.

Stopping in for lunch, we had soups – lentil and tomato – and scones. The lentil soup was delightful, with lots of carrots, some potato and bits of peas, and the tomato soup was excellently seasoned, both pairing nicely with the buttery scones. Desserts are the centerpiece here, with an excellent gin cupcake and a Victoria sponge that came highly recommended. It had a nice consistency, tasty, not too sweet, with a berry & cream center, pairing well with any hot beverage. Their apple matcha tea was particularly good and tart, with a strong apple flavor coming through. The location – the northernmost tea room in the UK – is a big part of the appeal of this place, but the food and drink are good in themselves. Sit down and enjoy!

Been going here every year since it opened. But sadly after this years visit I am not sure I would return again. The staff gave off an air of not wanting to be there and that the customers were a nuisance. We pre-booked, arrived on time, but kept waiting to be seated as the staff seemed keen to avoid eye contact, or hiding in the kitchen. Even a cursory “hi be with you in a minute” would have been nice. The welcome was not friendly at all, unlike previous visits. The atmosphere was oddly quiet. Disappointed to see that the menu has been severely reduced to scones, and smaller selection of cakes-had been looking forward to their sandwiches. Soup was sold out but we were not told this until ordering Food order eventually arrived, which was wrong., but we accepted it as we were now hungry The drinks has been forgotten so had to go up to ask for them. I noticed that the seating has been reduced and more “farm shop” items for sale (not actually farm shop at all) The clientele was also just tourists. No locals as previously which doesn’t surprise me if the staff are not as welcoming or friendly than usual. Hope this was just an off day. But a smile goes a long way and takes no effort.

What a gem! We were warmly greeted by 3 lovely ladies who welcomed us and our assistance dog, Dillon, with open arms. The cafe is outstanding, so interesting to look at as it's filled with vintage tea cups, plates, tea pots etc etc. Immaculately clean; NOT a speck of dust anywhere. The food was delicious. I had the savory scone served with chutney, Orkney cheese and apple and a pot of tea which was beautifully served using the vintage crockery (including a tea cosy). Husband had tasty tomato soup. Even the dog was treated to biscuits served on a vintage saucer! The little gift shop is stocked with gorgeously selected hand crafted local gifts and other well chosen items. So, naturally, we treated ourselves to several items. Thankyou to the ladies for our welcome, absolutely 1st class.

I visited today with my hubby, brother in law and sister in law, we were so looking forward to a braw cuppy and a fine bit o cake. I’m sad to say none of us felt the welcome was terribly friendly and to be told the place was fully booked after standing waiting for 10 minutes before even being acknowledged, was disappointing. We ordered take away and it felt like an age to come, even then the drinks orders weren’t right and we had to ask for our cakes, which were sitting in a bag waiting to be telepathically delivered. We sat outside in the beautiful windy sunshine and the whole time we sat there, tables lay empty inside. The wee shop had some wonderful items in it but was off putting as there were no prices on anything. I didn’t want to ask since the place was so busy, so I didn’t buy anything. We decided to head next door to the wee Unst Boat Haven and thankfully the braw Scottish welcome we received there was what you would expect! Not sure I would go back to these tea rooms, and there’s nothing else for miles around!

We were disappointed with our visit whilst on the island - we had booked so no issue with getting a table however we found the quality of the food was lacking. The soup wasn’t good at all. The lamb in the filled roll was dry. Service was chaotic - drinks being brought up twice and they were served after we’d eaten. Food was brought to us when we clearly already had our food. Other tables had to ask for someone to take their order. It wasn’t a cheap lunch as the prices are quite steep. Maybe we just hit an ‘off day’ but sadly our experience wasn’t what we’d hoped for.

This place was highly recommended by a Shetland local. We got the ferries over on Tuesday and arrived at 11:40. The tea room had several reserved tables so we sat on a table set for 6 - there were 2 of us, We asked about soup to be told it wasn’t ready until 12 noon even though there was a board mentioning soup clearly visible. We settled for cake, tea and coffee. The girl who served us was lovely but was very nervous. A lady who I assume was Victoria was making the waitress even more nervous - she wasn’t allowed to cut the Victoria Sandwich cake etc. my husband said Good Morning to Victoria but she just glared at him. The cakes and our drinks were fine and when I paid our waitress Victoria did look over as we were leaving and smiled at me in response to me smiling at her. I guess she was glad we were leaving…….. we met another biker on our journey home and he felt the same about his reception from Victoria….. we are quite nice middle aged people who drink tea v alcohol so I am not sure why some folk dislike bikers….

We had spent the day exploring the northern isles. We’d been for a good walk and were now desperate for a coffee. We’d seen this place on our way past so were happy to come back and find it. We weren’t disappointed. We had both lovely Lavazza coffee and I had the most delicious home made coffee cake. My Husband had a fruit scone with jam and clotted cream (which is actually quite hard to find in Shetland - more often than not is just whipped cream!) It was apparently delicious. This afternoon, on our penultimate day in Shetland, he declared that no where has compared to Victoria’s and he’s sad it’s so far north - it’s just a bit too far to pop up for coffee. If you’re passing in Unst do give this place a try - if they’ve got the coffee cake on it’s really lovely!

Lovely decorated cafe with excellent views. On 2nd September we arrived and were told they were on their winter menu, which surprised us, so the lady reeled out the choices, soup or sandwiches (4 different fillings, lamb, smoked salmon, egg or cheese I think from memory - as nothing was written down). So we ordered sandwiches and soup. The white bread wasn't anything special, brown bread better. No trimmings just sandwiches. Hot chocolate was very large. The bill was a bit if a surprise as £1 was added to each smoked salmon dish and the hot chocolate was £1 more than advertised on the menu. 2 of our part had a slice of cake which was £4 a slice - quite steep really and only OK. I think the fact there was no menu with prices didn't help and the fact that some items had an extra £1 here and there added made us feel uncomfortable. The cafe was busy too, so surprised at the small choice on offer. We also heard a couple talking on the ferry that they had visited the tea rooms which advertised its closing time at 5, and had arrived at just after 4.30pm and it was closed.

Great views but im afraid that's where the good side of the review ends. They only had 4 sandwiches or a soup on offer, which isn't an issue if they are lovely homemade with a nice side salad and homemaker bread.the price of the meal seems to change through the meal. No menu when we arrived were available, but a large one was put up by the time we finished eatting. Sandwiches £4 but we were charged 5 as we had salmon. Nobody mentioned the additional money for salmon. The sandwiches has no side salad or anything. Just came out on a tray. Supermarket bread. The gluten free brrad was frozen and defrosted but like a rock. 4.50 for a hot chocolate where as the menu said 3.50. I think the problem is this is the only place available so they can put out whatever quality and price they want. Would not return. £41.05 for 3 sandwiches, a soup, 2 coffee a hot chocolate a tea 1 soft drink and 2 slices of cake. Scandalous! We did mention this and basically had no response.

Went to the tearooms on a family day out in Unst and unfortunately I wasn't really impressed overall. The menu is quite minimal for savoury items and as a fussy eater (solely my issue and not that of the tearoom) I opted for the 'thick cut ham' and mustard sandwich minus the mustard. Well, when it arrived I could literally see through the piece of ham! Imagine thinner than wafer thin. For £5.50 with a small side salad, coleslaw and crisps I expect to be able to taste my sandwich filling. Another member of our party opted for the tattie and leek soup, tasted good but they found the presence of whole baby potatoes rather strange (not small bite size pieces as you would expect in soup). The crofter's platter looked lovely as did the other sandwiches ordered. The sweet offering was again, a bit hit and miss. Cakes were declared delicious but the traybake items were average.

Was good, nothing really awesome. I ordered a cake and the waitress came with an other one saying the one I ordered was no more available. I stupidly accepted the cake was average ( and dry like it was the last remaining slice) as the Victoria’s cake my spouse ate.

When travelling in January this far north you have to be prepared for the fact that catering is few and far between - which we were! But our 2 other stops at cafes had yielded nothing as closed for winter so this was a welcome sight.

Little gem in style of old tea rooms. Old style teapots and cups with a range of modern teas and other drinks. Tablecloths and sandwich, cake choices. All you'd expect from that genre. Lovely visit.

We were quite surprised to find this wonderful little place near the edge of the world in northern Unst: great sandwiches, soups, and pastries. When you’re the only place to eat you might cut some corners, but none of that here, it really is quality. It’s combined with a gift shop in which we bought several very attractive local items. I didn’t note how late it stays open, so check ahead. People who consider it overpriced need to consider what it costs to bring in supplies.

We had a pleasant break here. The location is wonderful and the drinks and cakes we had were nice, though not special. It was very nice to have proper cups and saucers and a real tea-pot for a change, but I did feel that it was over-priced for the area. Having said that, it was the only tea-shop open when we were on the island and it was reasonably busy.

Recommended to us by various friends on Mainland Shetland, it was certainly a delight to find somewhere so pleasant on Unst, which is very remote and obviously not noted for its fine dining !

We've had a great homemade chocolate cake and very good coffee. The room is nicely furnished and there is a small shop next door. If you plan to go there for lunch you should reserve a table, they might be very busy.

I’d heard Victoria’s was a must when visiting Unst, and I agree completely! Victoria bakes pretty much everything each morning so it’s fresh and fabulous. The cakes and scones are generous and delicious, and the welcome is second to none. As a family run tea room this was a lovely stop on our travels. Go when hungry though!

Great view.....but it does tend to get blocked as cars park in the way! A bit confusing as to how you order.....but once that was sorted the food was nice! It gets quite busy at lunchtime in July...but it did seem a popular place.

We saw there were many really good reviewers for this on here but sadly we must have visited on an off day. It is a very nicely decorated vintage style tea room, and is all clean and bright. The welcome we received however was a bit lukewarm and we were some time in confusion about if it was table or counter service. Eventually I ordered at the counter, and found half of the things we wanted they had run out of, this was at only 1pm midweek. No alternatives were suggested. We then waited over 40 minutes for a relatively simple order. Bearing in mind we had booked our table I thought this was unacceptable. Others who arrived some time after us had their food before us. The food itself was a mixed bag. Between very nice cakes and quite poor platter, soup and average sandwiches. It was a tad expensive, but this is to be expected. As we left we saw people eating meals that weren’t on the menu or board so obviously others were given choices we weren’t... very strange. My advice, if you have time pop in for coffee and cake if you have plenty of time, but if we are visiting Unst again we will bring a picnic instead.

This is an amazing and unusual place - an absolute ‚must‘ see and visit. If you are looking for a really nice cafe to enjoy not only tasty food but also a great view, then this is the venue. The tea room has a contemporary yet cosy feel. Whilst waiting for our tea, hot chocolate and salted caramel cake, we browsed for really nice gifts in the adjacent room. The entire place oozes charm, the service is efficient and very friendly and the cake is to die for! We cannot recommend it highly enough!

Welcome to Britain’s Most Northerly Tea Room - Victoria’s Vintage Tea Rooms. Queen Victoria would be pleased by the vintage teapots and teacups. We received a warm welcome, a delicious meal and a beautiful view of the ocean. We came in as guests and left as friends. A highlight of our Unst Adventures. Highly recommended.

It’s more of a good cafe than a restaurant and it is also a caravan and motorhome site plus wigwams ( colourful wooden weatherproof huts). It’s at Braewick not Brae which is 15 miles south. It has all the facilities that a caravan/ motorhome site needs. Electric hook up, drive over drains, black water disposals, clean water available, good parking surfaces. Problem is it takes a bit of finding these facilities! Even the pitches take a bit of locating as only a couple are numbered. All the rest have been washed off, blown away etc. The showers are looking old and are difficult to manage. There is a playground and the beach is 5 mins walk but bear in mind this is 1000 km north of London, nearest neighbours are Iceland and Norway so the water is refreshing. But the views are spectacular cliffs of red rock and in the sea a set of rock stacks (the drongs) look like a Viking longship turned to stone. Wonderful to look at at midnight. You might see Foula, 40 plus km away. There are blow holes through the cliffs, take care. The Northmavine musicians play at Hillswickplus informal dancing for a great night out but it’s a 5 minute drive or an hours walk. Great place just needs an update.

What a privilege to enjoy the Cullen skink and fish and chip meal. This is an out of the way place to visit but should be on everybody's Journey! they do not serve lunch until 12:00 sharp! no exceptions! So instead I had a shot of the whiskey liqueur at 11:00 in the morning; whereas, the locals were consistently coming in and getting a breakfast sandwich made on a homemade roll. Btw, it is inside the fishery University on the main floor. the food was amazing!

Fantastic value for money, great food cooked while you wait, they say breakfast sets you up for the day well the large breakfast will keep you going all day and more. It was the only place open when the boat comes in at 7.00 but was an oasis on a dreich morning, superb.

Right by the ferry terminal so the ideal place to wait for a crossing. This is popular with workmen and with families. They serve a wide range of food and drinks. From snacks to full meals. From breakfasts to afternoon teas. I enjoyed a coffee and a tray bake. Would have called in twice more during my visit to Yell but it was closed.
