Excellent food (especially the yam pottage) and great customer service plus it was my daughter’s birthday today and the staff were so kind to give her free snacks and a drink. Would surely recommend and visit again and again.

I think the food is really nice here but why do you get so little for so much money? £14.50 for rice, plantain and 3 tiny bumps of meat or 2 pieces of chicken, one which is practically meatless. You don’t get your money’s worth in my opinion. Real shame.

Firstly I have deleted my old review because I have raised my concerns directly with the owner who was very receptive and took responsibility for the poor standards I experienced and I respect that highly. The owner asked me to order again which I did, I ordered Bitterleaf egusi, peppersoup, Peppered gizzard and Jollof and ayamase. All the dished were honestly fantastic the bitterleaf had that bitter taste that I love the peppersoup was delectable sooooo tasty the jollof rice was spot on and I’m yet to eat the Ayamase but I’m sure it will be great. I’ve been eating here for years and I will continue to frequent this amazing business. Also the customer service has improved I had an issue with my order and the person I spoke to really went above and beyond to make things right. Well done team please keep it up. Thank you!!

So we are going to start things of with the positives and negative’s. For the one and only positive the food was good. Now comes to the negatives, the table was dirty and we had asked multiple times to clean the table and they never got to doing it. Next, not only that the table was dirty but they hadn’t supplied us with cutlery, clean cups, the walls where a faint yellow(which personally disturbed be quite a bit) and they didn’t even open the van for us in the bottle. Their menu was misleading as the prices on the menu is different from the the final price quoted, we noticed this when the final bill was produced and when we complained they insisted we pay their own amount, we insisted we will only pay the amount we saw on the original menu. FYI - please confirm the price of food before ordering. Finally, we were asked to pay £2 each for eating at the restaurant lol… that did not happen. Their food was good, however customer service needs improving!!!!

Very delicious Nigerian food and good portion size too. The moin-moin was great! The plantain was nice, soft and sweet. The suya was very nice too. If you're someone who loves prawn in their fried rice, don't expect prawn because that wasn't included. The yam porridge could have been softer though. Overall, it's definitely worth eating here and I will definitely be back again for more!

Worst service. They dont even deserve a one star at all. ordered my food way before and requested to collect it myself. I paid and just before the time I received a text from them saying my food is ready. I went there and the lady that spoke to me first was very mean. You can’t just expect that everyone who walks into the restaurant is nigerian and speak to me in one of their languages i am ZIMBABWEAN. She then asks me if I ordered before i told her yes and she asked what I ordered i told her wanted to show her the text but she seemed uninterested. She went inside and a guy came out who kept asking to see the message and email for my order and then told me my food is not ready . But how when they sent a message to say its ready. Asked me to wait another 5 mins. When he beought the food I collected and as i was leaving he called me back to say i have to pay yet i paid everything online. He insisted that it says i should pay by card. He asked another man and they spoke in their language and kept asking which website i used and how much did i pay yet i had email and text showing that i paid. Why put up services they’re not well versed of. I was so furious when i left their place.

This is not the first time me and my family have ordered from this restaurant. I would say each time the food could be greasy or the meat very dry. It’s not always nice. Anyway today dated 01/08/21 I ordered a take away and picked it up from the restaurant. I served the food to me and my family. My 16 year old daughter was absolutely disgusted to find a dead fly in her rice. Not just one but two. I am furious!!!!! I checked through my dish and noticed pieces of plastic. I refused to let my partner and two other children eat their meals. I would never ever hand my money over to that restaurant again!!!!!! You have made me and my family feel sick. You should be ashamed of yourself……… No one is picking up the phone so I can complain. I am raging!!! DO NOT EAT FROM THIS RESTAURANT..!! I will be reporting your restaurant first thing tomorrow…!!

Google needs to come up with a -10 star rating. It's unfair and unethical that I could mislead people by giving them a 1 rating. They don't deserve it. Horrible terrible experience. The food was definitely not fresh. Placed a huge order and got sent packs of utter rubbish. The plantain was probably fried ages ago and the warmed over for my order so it came all burnt and oily and disgusting. It didn't even have any taste. To mask the fact that the soups and ayamase were not fresh they packed in thyme and salts and seasonings that did not cook completely Thrashed every single thing and ordered for Chinese. These are frauds masquerading as an African restaurant.

So I need to bring this to the attention of the management, when ordering soups on either Deliveroo or Uber Eats after selecting what soup I want it then asks me to add either meat fish or assorted for an additional £2 which brings the whole price of the soup to £14 then once you add delivery cost the whole order comes to £16. I am perplexed by this because whenever I’ve ordered in the restaurant it’s been around £12 (meat included) I’ve tried asking the staff and they seem oblivious however I find it hard to believe that no one else has brought this to their attention. If the soup is £14 then make that clear on the app I.e. remove the additional £2. The price change should also be reflected in the restaurant menu. Can someone respond to this as I’m sure I’m not the only person who would like to know this is. Thank you.

Very disappointed, was having a house warming so I called to place an order on Thursday 30/Jan/20 about 21.03 for collection. A very disgruntled lady answered the phone and after putting in about three orders asked me to repeat my whole order, so when I was going to the top of the menu to start again she goes. “ hurry up now, I’m attending to customers”. As if I was chaff leather. So I asked “sorry are you too busy today.” She goes “yes” and ended our conversation. So sad, I had about 15 friends visiting and we wanted something traditional. I guess it’s pizza time.

Victoria's Kitchen seems quite authentic. The aroma of the place takes one away to a foreign land... you could easily close your eyes in the gents toilets and believe you were walking on the bank of a sewer in Lagos. Speaking of the toilets - they could do with using some bleach to get rid of the mildew around the handbasin. I expect the reason that they don't display their council food hygiene certificate prominently in the place has something to do with the fact that they either don't have one or their rating was so poor that they don't want to brag about it. The food is fine if you don't care about it having no flavour or chunks of bone in your food that you could easily break your teeth on. Every dish was far too spicy for my kids to eat (even the spinach with beef - foolish me ordered with mental images of something like a Lamb Saag with beef - it was more like chilli with some spinach and chunks of not-quite re-hydrated dessicated meat.) None of the food came across as being cooked with care or love. I'm no chef, but I can cook a lot more edible meals than that with the same ingredients. The staff were too intent on watching football on TV to worry about serving customers. That didn't matter, the place was almost empty anyway. Easily the worst African food I've ever had - and I usually love African food. I hope I don't have to go back there again.

Unassuming small restaurant (go for the food) with good original home cooked African menu with welcoming and friendly staff, will definitely visit again. James
