Fab hospitality left my phone and they kept it safe for me , me and my wife had a few games of pool it was a lovely environment

Great local with a great bunch of staff behind it. The food is basic but this place isn't about the food, it's about the atmosphere and positivity when you walk through the door. Pool table, log burner, T.V's with sport etc.. Great place with a good selection of beers.. After the new owner took it over it's turning into great place to go to!

Food was delicious everything was cooked fresh but takes a while to arrive. Steak pie was good and the jacket spud was huge

Went for Sunday carvery. Real ales on tap so one plus point for me. Food served upstairs but not very hot. Not very busy either so found a table easily enough. Would probably go again maybe mid week and see what it's like for lunch. Use the opportunity to take the dog down to the river as the pub is dog friendly too (another plus).

Limited beer options really dated decor although the locals dodo seem to really enjoy the pie here so I rated for food even though I didn't have any

We recently held a baby shower event at this venue. The staff (especially Janice!) were so helpful and really went the extra mile for us. The function room upstairs is a great room to hold events in and it was fantastic to have a private bar too. All of the guests (including the mother-to-be!) loved it...and they especially loved Janice's lovely desserts! I would recommend this pub as an events venue...thank you for having us Janice!

Unfortunately food was not on offer even though it was advertised outside.

Waste of time went there for pie night and no notice of no meals served after 6pm because of bank holiday never again

Very lovely looking pub full of character

A formidable large red brick building situated at the edge of an urban area close to the river. Once through the entrance you have a wonderful space surrounding a large central bar. Friendly staff and good cask ale.

Went Friday 17th March for lunch with mum. We both ordered fish and chips. Both meals not cooked, the fish was still frozen in the middle. Definitely won't be going again.

Took my family for Sunday lunch after reading the positive reviews. Won't go back. Was not an enjoyable experience at all

Carvery is all homemade. Vegetables a plenty with out being fancy. Gratin was yummy. Roast spuds nearly as good as mine. Good value. Our new local.

My wife and I were looking for a venue for a forthcoming reunion with friends. Having browsed the internet we came upon the Victoria Hotel, with an impressive website with very favourable reviews. Having decided to try a trial lunch we drove on Tuesday 30/08 from Methley to the Victoria. Upon arrival we were confronted by a board advising No Food on Tuesday, contrary to what is on the website (Food service Mon – Sat: 12pm – 2:30pm (last orders 2:15). As stated a very impressive website, pity it is not updated regularly.

Food is fantastic Sunday lunch you get loads of meat. Friendly staff. Also meals during week are very nice reasonabley priced

Went as a group of ladies old school pals and had different meals all looked really nice

First time we have been to Victoria Hotel for a long time as we used to go in alot as my sister lived near by. We went for the steak night as it was £28 for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine we ask for well done as my wife likes it that way. The steaks came to our table well presented and looked lovely on our plate. The steaks we're lovely a perfect cooked we sat and had our steaks which we enjoyed. We looked to see other meals coming out of the kitchen which looked nice too. We really liked the Victoria Hotel warm and friendly atmosphere and a lovely place to have a meal and a drink if you just want one instead of a meal.

Absolutely rubbish food it's very bland no taste upstairs as no air con where u sit to eat we had to go outside to eat & left half the food very shocking i like my food i go to other places that are fantastic we actually wondered why it was only £10 on a sunday per adult thats why its that price im sorry but ppl nowadays like homemade food like we do

Had a superb Sunday Carvery as well as the usual meats on offer beef, gammon, chicken, pork etc there were a range of alternative choices such as belly pork in plum sauce, chicken casserole with dumplings, meat pie, lamb shank and other choices. All for around a tenner. Good food, great value and friendly staff. WE WILL BE BACK.

Wry nice pub and staff lively out dior seating and sun shades will come back drinks at little more than usual but. Very good all round

Great pub with a lovely beer garden

We visited again after such a pleasant experience during a birthday celebration during the limited Coronavirus reopening. Last time we were under an open sided tent in the beer garden. This time we ate inside. The bar has a welcoming feel, and the genuine log fire adds to the comfortable atmosphere. The staff were experienced and excellent. We had delicious food. Pie, veg, chips and gravy, and sliced beef, mash, veg and gravy in a large Yorkshire pudding. We were too full for a pudding. Our drinks were perfect. I wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed another. There is a sign behind the bar that says "There is no hearth like your own hearth" (there is no place like home) but the Victoria Hotel is a fabulous place on your travels. There is limited street parking and the toilets are clean.

Nice pub n good selection of drinks but i think it was the landlady who seemed really put out when I said the dogs water bowl was empty and asked for it refilling. Its a dog friendly pub so I didn't think it was a huge ask. She also seemed really annoyed when I asked if outside seating area was heated. Shame really cos I'd visit very regular if she wasn't so unpleasant

Cracking pub! Run by bother Michelle and Malcolm who are lovely! All they have tried to do is build a great atmosphere and serve good food. During the lockdown they also did takeaway Sunday roasts which were to die for! 😍

Massive beer garden and very well run.

Just called in on a quiet Friday late-lunchtime and couldn't have received a warmer welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and what a fantastic beer garden. Everything from heaters in selected areas, cushions and throws to keep warm and comfortable. To top it all - Moretti on draught and great food!! Lovely Landlady too. Give it a try. It's only 5 minutes out of Castleford and only 150 yards from the boat moorings The Victoria sponsors and manages!! What could be better??

I love this pub, I've been tonight with friends who have never been before, and they were really impressed. The service is fast and friendly and the landlady gets stuck in with serving, which is lovely to see the team work. The girls working were friendly yet professional. A relaxed atmosphere in a well presented area. My friends want to come again. So glad it's back open xx

Very pleasant visit today. We had not booked and there was no queue when we arrived, though there was when we left. The back garden was opened up with lots of tables and a covered area, too. Beer was excellent. Families of all ages were present at lunch time. Sunday carvery available. Excellent meaures in place to prevent spread of Covid-19, one way system, hand sanitiser, staff in masks. The service was excellent, no waiting at all. Very friendly place. Thank you for a very pleasant visit.

First time in, nice variety of lagers available, plenty of room outside for social distancing, very nice bar bites of pork and beef meatballs in tomato sauce. Will definitely call again.

Started out well then just couldn't get served, appreciate it was busy but 40 minute wait was excessive - we were sat to the right of the marquee near the children's slide, couple of the tables there felt overlooked. Could see the staff were working their socks off

Had a lovely Sunday meal here. Plenty in portion size, my old bug it could have been a bit warmer. Sadly I didn't see any ale on tap, which had i not been driving, Would have disappointed me.

Recommended by friends to give this pub a go. Six of us call tonight at 7pm. Lovely food served piping hot and nice wine to go with it. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Great evening at a very reasonable cost. Will be returning in the future, most enjoyable evening

Have passed this pub a thousand times. Never popped in. The Boat was closed. We were so hungry. Saw it served meals here and allowed dogs This is now our new local. Food was superb. Reasonably priced. Staff are brilliant. And our Husky was well received

Just had carvery it was lovely lots of vegetables choices I had pork and beef the beef was so tender. I felt really safe they have put a lot of thought into the keeping people safe.
