Veyso’s Brasserie in East Hertfordshire

The food might be nice, but the service is terrible. The waitresses give you filthy looks and couldn’t look more unbothered to help or tend to you. They intentionally ignore you, offer no level of customer service, and make you feel completely unwelcome. On top of the already very premium prices, you’ll be expected to pay a hefty service charge — despite receiving no actual service or any effort from the waiting staff to make your experience a good one. For the price you pay, their attitude is unjustified. It feels like the team believe the restaurant’s reputation is enough to carry them, and that they no longer need to treat customers with basic respect. If you want a genuinely pleasant experience, go across the road to Nelore — the staff there can’t do enough for you and actually make you feel valued

The mocktails are fabulous! I had mushrooms and halloumi, followed by veggie moussaka. My friend had various meat dishes, which he loved. Very friendly staff, specially Hakan who took the time to chat. Great service and lovely chilled vibe. Complimentary tea - and even a piece of baklava. So happy 😊 x

The pics online are great but seeing it in real life is unreal 👌this restaurant is just drop dead gorgeous ! The atmosphere was incredible and that was topped off with the best dinner date , food , vibe and service I have had in the UK ! Credit to the waiting staff , chefs & owner this is a real gem and highly recommended , will be back again !

£8 for tzatziki… £30 something for lamb shish with only salad? No rice or chips included?Absolute joke with the prices. I’m Turkish and feel ashamed to even think they would charge these obscene prices. Happy to say I saw the prices and walked out with my partner. Good luck charging these crazy prices….

The prices are a little higher than expected however it is worth it as it is A lovely restaurant with lovely food. Aydin in particular provided a very attentive service.

Lovely decor, Very overpriced and poor quality. The decor is absolutely the best thing about this restaurant. The complimentary side of flat bread and Balsamic is also very good. I rarely order a seafood pasta as I have come to the conclusion only the very best restaurants can get it right. At almost £23 the Veyso’s reasserted this theory. The dish was bland, the seafood was dry and certainly not fresh. If you are going to charge that much for pasta I expect you to nipping to Billingsgate market on the same day. I can literally prepare a very generous four portions of very fresh seafood pasta for less than £5 a head. I am afraid you to say you can probably get better at Zizzis. Also, you are well outside the M25, adding automatic service charges is something that should be left to the ruthless capital.

We have been here three times over 2 years and on each occasion have received great food and service. The bread and dips they serve are AMAZING! We had hot starters and mains. All great and portions are generous. Just wish I had room for the cocktails the last time round. Would highly recommend.

Lovely setting however very cold non-welcome by staff. Trying to gain access to restaurant guy could see us and pointed to the door instead of opening it for us. Unfriendly, unwelcoming and overall negative vibe.

Firstly I’ll mention the positives because I have quite to say. The waiters are lovely, they were attentive and helpful and did their jobs very well. The place looks good too but it was a bit too dark for me. I don’t mind dim lighting but I could barely see what was on my plate. Now for what I didn’t like. We went as a big group for a birthday dinner and brought a cake with us as we wanted to celebrate at the restaurant. They didn’t let us because of their “policy” and what a silly policy because I’ve never been to a restaurant and been refused to bring a cake before especially when booking for a birthday meal. Might I add, there was one other table when we were there so who would’ve even noticed that we lit a small cake on ours? The food was what I expected, I had low expectations honestly because I have been to plenty of these “Turkish” restaurants that have mid range food, plated somewhat nicely but made with ingredients that aren’t fresh and served in a dark room for “aesthetics” over quality and taste just for a big profit margin. The octopus was clearly frozen and not fresh, the meat dishes were okay but I have never been to a Turkish restaurant and had no rice or bread with kebab/grill meals because that’s how it’s always meant to be served. There was just an abundance of cabbage and carrot to fill the empty spaces on the plates. They were very stingy on the chicken caesar salad dressing and it was very average. I would pick a £2.75 Tesco caesar salad over that. We had mixed starters and they were all okay but nothing special. Last thing, I didn’t even bother trying the wine. I wasn’t there when the order was placed so I’m not sure if someone on our table picked it or if it was recommended but no good wine comes with a metal screw on lid. Good restaurants with good, high quality wine use cork lid bottles. I’d make my rating an overall 2 but I honestly think this place is overhyped and overrated enough so I have to give it a 1 star. For its price, this restaurant was definitely not worth it. You’re better off going anywhere else in Hertford.

Lack of welcome and in general the staff were uninterested in helping or serving us, even after we went to ask for an order to be taken (getting on for 20 minutes after arrival). When asked, allergy information was lacking/felt unreliable - based on the responses of staff that were unconvincing and all too nonchalant, we left and found a better welcome and professional kitchen management not far away.

Excellent service from umut and enis, made me and my friends have a very memorable experience. The cocktails made by ersin were one of a kind. Would definitely come back!

Booked here for NYE. Was advertised as £25 per person with live singer, dancers and DJ etc. We had a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival which was nice but the entertainment was pretty poor. Food was lovely as always with large portion sizes. We ordered two cocktails which our waiter dropped, this didnt bother us as it’s human error and it happens. However, after waiting 15 minutes again for our drinks, we asked if they were on the way and his response was “We need to prioritise other tables as it’s getting busy now”. We were shocked by this response as it was not our fault that our drinks were dropped and of course it’s going to be busy NYE. We waited around 25-30 minutes for our drinks to come out to then be told a couple minutes later that we needed to leave soon as someone has been waiting 30 minutes for our table. This didn’t make sense as we had a 2 hour booking so we were more than entitled to our table. We were also not even offered to see the dessert menu whilst waiting for our drinks. Poor service and disappointed after spending £250.

Had great expectations for Veysos restaurant in Herrford for a family member's 16th birthday. . We checked a few days beforehand that the restaurant could cater for her allergies and were told yes she can have the chicken shish that would be fine. When we got there last night they said that she couldn't have the chicken as its marinated and would not be suitable for her allergies. Surprisingly they offered to WASH THE CHICKEN! Are they even aware of how dangerous this is? We were also informed only one balloon was allowed and the birthday cake that we took for the birthday girl who has allergies we were told only she could eat it and not us. On entering the restaurant nobody greeted us with a smile or hello in fact the person who spoke to my daughter when she came to the restaurant about allergies argued with her and was very rude. Would never set foot in this restaurant again luckily next door was Lussmann's restaurant who welcomed us and even provided the candles for the cake and a beautiful meal for everyone. if you want a lovely reasonably priced meal in Hertford look no further than Lussmanns.

Daughter booked a table for her birthday for tonight and she rang to cancel because one of the party died last night !!!! Was then told we have to charge you for cancellation including the person who has died !!! I know they have a cancellation policy in place but there are times you should show some compassion . You have today lost a hell of a lot of future customers with your disgusting behaviour 🤬🤬🤬

Very overpriced for what you get !Took my own gluten free pitta bread to have with hummus ,rice was extra with Chicken shish,came away feeling very hungry !Miserable waiter ,so not happy experience ……the only good thing is the decor !

22 of us had dinner there on Sat. I need to start by saying our waiter was very good and he did his best. Most of the staff were lovely. The food was average, some of the people at our table received substandard, tasteless mains or raw meat which was unacceptable. They served humus without flat bread. Who does that. It's very overpriced and frankly not worth what they charge per item. I've eaten in many Turkish restaurants over 30 years and never had started of main courses arrive without rice, bread, chips. They charged for absolutely everything. And to add insult to injury despite many of us pre ordering, we waited two hours for our food. How this place stays busy is amazing. Personally, i will never set foot in this restaurant again.

Having booked a group of 20 for a Christmas meal we were happy with the high price for food having been told there was live entertainment. Upon arrival we were told that there was no entertainment. The restaurant looks lovely, we agreed to stay. An hour in and we got our starters, that were small but of a reasonable quality, I had 4 tiger prawns for £12.50. Another hour and 15 minutes later we all agreed that we had waited long enough for food, it was now 22.30 2 hours after we had arrived for our booking. At £36.50 5 lamb chops arrived for one of our party and he paid £7.50 for an additional bowl of chips. He was upset not only by the small portion but the aggressive and dismissive attitude of the manager. The complaints were rolling in and the waiter decided to call a female guest disrespectful while I was eating my meal. I had remained silent and agreeable to that moment. I asked who was disrespectful to the waiter and he told me to walk outside and talk about it like some tough guy. The manager and possibly owner was standing clenched fisted and looked very intimidating, there was no understanding or empathy offered. We were seated near the kitchen and it was clear for an hour or so before our food had arrived that there was problems with the service. I left feeling treated like dirt and was very upset at a spoiled gathering. I refused to pay and left my name and number Avoiding this overpriced theatre and find somewhere more hospitable in Hertford As good as the food may have been the hospitality was dreadful

A big surprise in a cosy part of Hertfordshire. Eclectic objects bring a cosmopolitan ambiance but you still feel the Mediterranean effect in your surroundings. The food is as good as it can be. Friendly staff and good table service.

Hey, we had a great time! We went with friends for a three-course brunch with bottomless prosecco and bellinis. It was really nice, the food was tasty, and the bellinis kept coming. The staff was super professional and attentive. We'll definitely be back. We also had a couple of cocktails to end the lovely afternoon.

I have been coming to veysos for the past 8 years and they never disappoint, They looked after us during my fiancés 28th birthday and the service was second to none, Thank you for an amazing experience x

Such a shame this restaurant has unfriendly staff, takes the shine off of a visit even though it's so nicely done out. The couple we went with are from out of the area and they felt the food was good but no better than other Turkish restaurants they have been to at a much lower price (It is expensive) As a result we will not choose to spend our money here again.

My first visit. I ordered a steak. I was delighted. The meat was very juicy and tasty. Very friendly staff. The restaurant is Excellent. The prices are very affordable. Will definitely come back..I recommend visiting the restaurant.

Food mostly good, though starters too large and lacking finesse. Lovely lamb shish- quality meat and cooked to perfection. Pushy waiter who irritatingly kept asking if we wanted to order more/ upgrade wine etc- found this annoying abd patronising.

Rude greeting from the hosts, make me feel uncomfortable the entire meal 6 members of staff bunched up watching me eat. Sat us next to the toilet door. Ruined my dad's birthday. Wouldn't even let him have his birthday cake. Food was mediocre and price was ridiculous. Crystal kabab in cheshunt is better.

Hmmm fell short sadly on this occasion. Food was average at best but plenty of it, however on this visit it would have been best if less was more. The live singer was way too loud and the PA system wasn’t the best and quite distorted so needed to be toned down by a couple of decibels. We looked at the desert menu but because dinner had been so average we didn’t fancy desert. We thought we would have fresh mint teas but noticed they wanted £4.45 for a cup of hot water with a few mint leaves thrown in!!! As there were 6 of us we were not going to spend £26.70 on boiling water. As a sort of joke we said to the waiter we were happy to pay £18!! He said he would ask but no the manager not only didn’t come over but would t come over!! It was all a bit tongue in cheek but we were shocked the manager wouldn’t come and see us even if it was just friendly banter and said sorry we can’t change the prices and yes I agree that a 1500% mark up is a bit steep but my hands are tied. We are all in business and we all know that in order to survive properly you have to deliver and provide fab customer service and everything was below par. I hasten to add we can all easily afford £4.95 but none of us like to be bent over and shafted with a mint bush! £105 a couple which is average today that was with only 3 glasses of wine so hardly any booze but the food was not up to scratch. Sorry 😞

The stars are for the food, not the service. If I could give the staff 0 stars I would, the host and wait staff were rude and unaccommodating, we asked several times for things like tap water and they continued to not be delivered, despite not being busy with anything else. The meal was nice but too expensive for what we got. I got a small serving of VEGETABLE Mousakka for £17.50, you can get a lamb one for £20. I’ve had better priced meals in Turkish restaurants. At the end, we were told we couldn’t have a print out of the bill? I’m sorry, what restaurant doesn’t print you an itemised bill, after payment we still had £100 left on the bill for service charge which in our opinion was not deserved. The staff continued to repeat we had to pay because it was 11pm and they were closing the till but kept ignoring that we were asking for an itemised bill to pay. The attitude was poor from the host and staff and it put a damper on the occasion we were all out celebrating. This was 17 guests that will all never return.

Delicious food, great service (Selda always looks after us) reasonably priced and I will certainly continue to come here as I have for years!

We had booked dinner with a group of friends, one of whom had a newborn. Veysos does not allow any children of any age in their restaurant and we were asked to leave.

I don’t normally bother writing reviews, but after an anniversary meal at Veyso we were left disappointed. We wanted to try something new from our usual, but wish we hadn’t bothered. The restaurant is decorated nicely and is impressive when you walk in. The welcome from staff was not as impressive. The food was ok, tasty but nothing out of this world. The starters was 3 little prawns social distancing on a plate. They looked kinda sad. Next was mixed shish, again 4 pieces of meat neatly presented. This arrived before our starter plates had been collected, of course we helped by clearing our plates away, but not even a thank you or smile from the waitress. We then had to find someone to order another drink, no one came over throughout our whole meal to see if we were ok or needed anything else. To be honest, it felt like we were an inconvenience, and not one member of staff (from the several we saw) smiled or was friendly towards us. Shame, but we would not return or bother recommending this place to anyone.

Below average food. Lamb was pink. Coming from North London where every other restaurant is Turkish the price did not reflect in the quality of food.

Was recommended this place after recently moving to the area from North London where there I’ve eaten in multiple Turkish restaurants. Ordered a cocktail to be told they didn’t have the ingredients. I was offered a cocktail not on the menu but apparently was nice. Well it wasn’t. When asked how it was by our host I was honest. About 20 minutes later I was offered a replacement cocktail on the house. Ordered a mixed shish, the lamb was completely pink. I didn’t want to complain as felt I had already been negative about my cocktail. When our host came to take our plates she noticed the pink lamb and apologised, said she would speak to the chef. She didn’t mentioned anything more to us about it. The bill came and it was £70pp. We did have a three course meal, 1 alcoholic drink each and a coffee so I’m not disputing the price but was very disappointed in paying this for food that was way below average. The restaurant was not very busy for a Saturday night. Nice music and a great live singer. However due to lack in quality of food and the host not acknowledging this I won’t be returning. Go to Lussmans next door - bloody incredible 5* all round!

Absolutely appalling. Me and my girl friend went and the waiter kept trying flirt with my girlfriend and was staring at her and making sleazy comments. They were very rude and when asked why the food was taking so long they said that’s how it is we are busy restaurant They then served us a platter and substituted items of their choice. Instead of saying some of the items were unavailable they just substituted with items we didn’t want too much of. When I asked why they said we have the option to go elsewhere I like to give everyone a chance but seriously this place is overpriced and food is not even great.

Maybe Sunday late afternoon not the best time to go. Had lamb / chicken kebab. 3 bits lamb / chicken Carrot, red cabbage etc. surprised it wasn’t served with bed of rice. That was xtra. Also had tomato & avocado salad. Sent back salad. The bits of avocado was rock hard. They must’ve been aware when trying to cut it in kitchen ? Wasn’t worth the money. Decor fantastic

Wow ! Inside is stunning, ambient and gorgeous. From the moment you arrive the service is 5 stars. Seated / served in minutes , how many times do you go out and you are seated and wait 15 minutes for a drinks order ? Not here .. the food , I’ve eaten at “other” Turkish restaurants and the food is cooked and bland , the food here is stunning. You can taste the effort put in and the portions are superb. I will definitely go back , great food , amazing venue and fantastic service , thank you

Upmarket Turkish themed restaurant - although they had no Turkish wine and the menu is a bit eclectic. We asked for a table in the garden, was told it was closed for work then watched several groups get tables out there! Clearly we weren’t special enough. It was ok but was hoping for a Turkish meal and there are better Turkish restaurants locally

Very happy to have found a genuinely good authentic Turkish restaurant locally. Even us Turks can be quite picky with our food but I couldn't fault Veyso's. Friendly staff, nice vibe and great food.

We’ve just eaten here. The ambience is wonderful but my vegetarian moussaka was rock solid on the bottom. When I complained she just said I’ll tell them. No apology at all. Very disappointing. My husband enjoyed his food but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

Delicious food I really enjoyed the atmosphere here food is very on point as well. The staff are very friendly and and very good with the service making sure that the customers have everything they want. I would highly recommend trying this place out especially on a nice date night.
