Not as good as it used to be but still so much better then others. Prices definitely increased but competitive.

It was terrible to see how poor hygienic their staff and owner is. Both owner n workers were eating working in the service area. Touching same hands to customer food . Disgusting. Had to bin food as it was already paid . It is too much overpriced and quality of food is not worth the price.

Sue's House team visited Upney Fish Bar this afternoon to present a certificate for their generous donations to our charity. They gave us fish and chips so tasty and delicious, cod was just amazing.

I visit frequently and always receive a friendly welcome from the staff There is never a problem to cook my fish fresh so that it is still hot when i get back home The menu and price list are visible and clear and payments can be made by cash or card I recommend Upney Fish Bar to my friends and family

I have been coming here for years- the food, service and staff are great. This little chippy has won lots of national awards for their great food. The food is fresh and cooked freshly, decent portion sizes, clean and nice staff. Also the owner is a great guy and always does his bit for the charities in the local community - especially the cancer charities .

The guy is a creep (other stuff are fine ,he’s just very weird and bare in mind i’m a teenager💀) never coming back again like he keeps asking me weird personal questions and won’t leave me alone when clearly i want food and not a conversation with a grown man??? Very uncomfortable, food is banging but this fat uncle with a weird hairstyle needs to calm down💀

The people who works there are a bunch of criminals, robbers, and doesn't know how to treat customers never again I will be going there and will tell all my friends and families to stay away from there. They lack in communications also...and make up their own prices rather from the menu. Not sure about the hygiene levels there either if they are capable of treating customers in a extreme poor manner and on personal level there is no doubt how far they will go with the serving of food. Unprofessional criminal bunch!!! You have been warned. Stay away.

Ordered on Uber eats…£26.00 for large lamb doner and a small one….with no chips and cones in greasy paper - not even a box & no tissue

Doner is terrible. Go to Faircross Fishbar for Quality Doner meat 5 mins down the road. Very overpriced and food doesnt match the price. Even got 5 wings n chips so tiny They charge 30p for sauce. Stupid

Good size fish & chips, and good size Kebabs. Cod was very tasty, but kebab was a little dry for my liking, some people like it like that...but my preference is a lamb doner that is moist.

Order on Uber eats asked for meat and chips with salad and mayo and chilly sauce and got plain can you not read instructions that’s written down for you to follow absolutely cons

I will not be going back, I paid 10-11£ on large cod and chips, this is what they gave me (see photos).

I went to this shop to get a quick grub, I orderd 3 piece chicken and chips, which on the menu board are for £5.50. As I asked the person to put the chips separate and chicken separate as they wouldn't fit in the box , he then charged me £7.30, when I question he said cus u want it separate, so this guy looked at my face and charged me £1.80 more to wrap my food in paper rather then the box. Absolute cunning people. Never return to this shop again. Absolutely poor communication and serving skills, they look at your face and charge accordingly, not the prices on menu board.

Horrible, i got a sausage and chips and the next day i got food poisoning! DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Fish was a bit rank and it stunk. Had really bad out of date after-taste.

What a rip off. Asked for a large chips and served with a small charging me 3.80. Rubbish service and rubbish food. Chips weren't even hot. How much does a bag of potatoes cost eh?! look at your demographic this isn't knightsbridge or Michelin stared food. Luckily we have other fish and chips places close by for locals. One on upney lane near faircross which charge 4 quid for XL chips where 3 people wouldn't be able to finish or another place opposite lidle on longbridge road. If you like mediocre food and extortinate prices then this is your go to. Much better food and service close by. Will not go there in the future. Doubt many people go as I saw 1 customer in there when I stepped in. Note to management - understand your customers. This isn't a quick win business! Won't ever be going there again!!! look at other reviews as well

Every time I say chicken every time they give me lamb

I just went and it's amazing, I am picky with my food but this shop is so good, chicken so crispy and season well, the staff are friendly and nice people. Chips is on point not burn or partly done but done right and crispy, the sausage taste yummy and the potatoes(not really fussy about potatoes) were great.

What on earth is this supposed to be?? It's definitely not the quarter pounder I ordered!!!

Ordered 2 large cods and a large chips. Chips had hair which was cooked in the oil as it was imbedded in the chips. The so called large cods were actually small, very disappointed. Wanted to try it out on the recommendation of family but what a waste of money.

Usually the best fish and chips in the area, well it is when cooked fresh while you wait. However today's large cod and chips was very poor, the fish had been sitting being kept warm and was a million miles away from the excellent fish we usually get here. The chips were barely warm as well.i won't be using this place again unless the fish is cooked fresh while I wait. Shame, as its the first time we've had a poor meal from here.

Food is decent, hadn’t been here for years but decided recently to have cod and fish. Staff just need to be a bit more friendly. I came in one time and a staff on the side gave me one odd look. Maybe they’re not enjoying their job.I even remember years ago when I was recovering from a cold, my throat was a bit croaky so I wasn’t talking loud when ordering my food. One young staff member was saying “huh” “huh” in an aggressive way giving me a odd look. Just be nice to ppl Lool

This is by far the best Chicken n Chips in Barking though it's only my opinion and having eaten their chicken for the last 6 or 7 years. I've tried others but always return to Upney so that speaks volumes. I've ordered their chicken and chips for staff parties and everyone enjoyed them and possibly will agree with me. The owner and his team are friendly, jovial and polite. I live about ten miles away from the shop but never minded the journey for their chicken! You have to try it to know what I'm saying.

Local chippy food is OK... Not too pricey but the food standards and taste have dropped since I first started to go there about 7 or 8 years ago. I'll go there as my last resort.

Friendly staff. Fast food service. Best salads to go with your meal. Best fish- lightly battered.

We still like the cheese burger with chips, but they've reduced the amount of salad and burger sauce. I used to buy plain cheese burger and get salad separately but now they refused to give salad separately.

Been going there since I was in school, love the battered sausage. Big fan of the previous owners and new owners.

First time I've used this chippie..The chips where cold and had clearly been cooked twice as they where over cooked. Also had a sausage in batter which was also cold. The staff all dress up in smart uniforms but there no getting away from you can't dress up poor quality cold food. Would have gone back but as would have meant taking the kids out again.. I won't be back very poor and disappointing

I used to love buying food from Upney fish bar, I used spend £30 to £40 a week for over 15 years, I also recommended them to a lot of my friends and family, but the last few years I have notice that the food quality and the service wasn’t that good, I still continued to buy from them hoping it will improve, instead it got worse, so I decided not buy from them anymore.

The worst sloppiest wet under cooked kebab I've ever had in my life. No care slap dash done. Way toooooo saucey like soup thanks.

I am not a fish eater, but this place does very delicious fish and ships along with Donner kebabs and other stuff 😋

Food was great and the only reason it's not a five star is because the curry sauce was too watery and... didn't have much of a curry taste on the day i bought mine.
