Twisted Treats in Colchester

I love this bakery so much. I find it such a warm and inviting environment, and have encouraged many of my friends to go as well. The staff are very kind and helpful as is the owner Jo. I attended the Galentine's Day event with my friend and have seen there is an upcoming Easter event too! I would recommend this bakery to anyone and wish it every success in the future :)

I have known Jo since I studied at University and always knew she would do something amazing with her passion and dedication to her work - her cakes are incredible and so amazing. I won a competition through Instagram and was sent the yummiest brownies! Thank you so much they are incredible, everything you have achieved is amazing Jo you should be so proud of what you have created.

I live a while away from twisted treats but saw how tasty their brownies and cookies looked so requested them to be shipped for a birthday. The team were so lovely and helpful, shipping the items in time for the event and sending a mix of all the delicious chocolate I requested. Thanks again!

The brownies are always delicious- the only problem = choosing which one(s) to try. I didn’t have a coffee this time but they have really good coffee too. Ecclefechan was an amazing new festive discovery- if you like mince pies try these!!

Highly recommend! I've been twice to Twisted Treats, once with a friend, and most recently with my partner and daughter. They offer eat in or takeaway, and have a great selection of treats - its actually really hard to choose. Inside the shop they also have a section where you can buy items from local creators such as jewelry, and tshirts etc. I also spotted a little dog station that has water and dog beds so they are most definitely dog friendly. Everything about this independent shop is lovely and well worth a visit (or multiple!) A bit on my visits, both times we were warmly welcomed by the staff who are lovely to speak to and very helpful. My friend and I brought a selection of different flavour brownies and blondies to share. They were so rich and delicious! We sat in to have a drink & catch up and enjoyed the beautiful decor. On my second visit my partner and I took our 9yr old in for cake but ended up staying for lunch. Again we enjoyed the beautiful decor, this time with added festive decorations. There were also games that we could play to keep us entertained while we waited for our food. Between the three of us we had sausage roll, mac & cheese toasties, and pizza party toastie. All were extremely tasty. We took away a selection of treats including brownie, cupcake, a brookie pie, and a baked bone for the dog!

I’ve visited Twisted Treats several times since it opened and their brownies and blondies are amazing, staff are always really friendly and it’s just a great place to visit!

Best brownie I have ever had. Have tried brownies from other places after but I swear ,nothing compares to twisted treat brownies! They have different cakes and funny names

Twisted Treats have a fantastic range of fun and delicious treats available, including several vegan options! Their vegan sausage roll is amazing. We had previously visited the old Mersea location but popped in to the new Colchester shop to pick up a few Halloween treats which were fantastic. The staff are really helpful and friendly too.

Delisious desserts, my favourite coffee (Paddy and Scott's), vegan sausage rolls a quirky comfortable enviourment AND, best of all, dogs are not only welcome but have a water station, blankets and treats! My favourite place to go for a sweet treat and to relax. I can't recommend this place enough

Really yummy cakes with great variety! Was also dog friendly which i appreciated with my little one. Havent been to the TC location yet but I am sure its even more fab than the old one in Mersea x

I love all the goodies I have had from Twisted Treats. The treats are well priced for an independent bakery and I love that they are unusual in flavour and style compared with other treats from other bakeries. The shop is decorated beautifully and has a great selection of gifts from other local independent stores which is a really cool touch. It's really nice having the option to eat in or to takeaway the treats (or more treats) for later. The staff were very friendly and made sure I had everything I wanted. There was a bit of a queue when I was in there last but I think they were training staff so that is understandable, and I would rather wait for their amazing items than I would go to somewhere else that wasn't as good or wasn't a small business. I can't wait to come and visit you guys again.

I've been a fan of twisted treats since 2018 when we had some of Jo's creations at village green. I used to get a treat when she had her market stall on the university site on a Thursday and now I'm so excited there's an actual store in Colchester I recently got the brownie cornflake cake (mine and my partners favourite) and a box of the 4 for £12 to share with friends and family. I love the kinder Bueno brondie which is like a mixed brownie and blondie batter. If you like something super indulgent (you only need a bite of it) then go for the death by Oreo brownie. Their drinks are to die for too and they support local small businesses by selling some of their items in the store such as earrings and dog treats. They are also neurodivergent inclusive and on Wednesdays have a few hours where the store is quiet. There is seating upstairs so it's also a good place to read a book or study while you enjoy your treats.

Twisted treats is worth a visit! For all the artistry and thought that is involved in creating each delicacy, it makes each treat incredible value for money. From each bite you can tell that the staff at Twisted Treats are passionate about their craft. Indulge yourself, support small business and walk out feeling like Charlie Bucket when he won the golden ticket.

Fun bright decor, amazing bakes, and service with a smile. What more could you want? If you’ve got a sweet tooth this is 100% the place for you. Pick from an array of brownies/blondies/cakes/cookies and so much more. And if you fancy more of a savoury note, then their sausage rolls and toasties look just as good. Then you get to the drinks, great coffee with a bunch of flavoured syrups, and seriously good milkshakes. They feature a great range of small businesses of which all sell different products: jewellery, prints, crochet, dog biscuits… and speaking of dogs … it’s dog friendly too! Safe to say, I’ll be back again for sure.
