Turtle Bay in Colchester

I had never eaten at Turtle Bay before. When I walked in there was a great atmosphere. There was music, and I was able to choose where I sat. The staff were polite, friendly and professional. The service was excellent. The mocktail was ready quickly and the food I ordered arrived quickly and was hot. It was very tasty and beautifully prepared. I will be returning again soon.

Went for a bottomless brunch and it was amazing! Food and drinks were delicious! The staff was great - special mention goes to James who looked after us and made our experience very enjoyable!

Family weekend lunch booked on a Saturday. Waited 20 minutes. Ignored by waiting staff. Left. Avoid weekend lunchtimes unless you’re after bottomless brunch. The staff seemed focused on mixing cocktails.

Visited for drinks but the staff did not really seem to want us there. There were 3 tables available but when we sat at each one we asked had we reserved. We had not reserved but it seems insane that you do not allow people who are present to sit and drink. I have been to other Turtle bay restaurants where they would do anything to keep us on site but this one couldn't wait to get rid of us. Luckily Colchester has many alternatives so we were able to spend our money without being made to feel like second class citizens elsewhere.

Did the bottomless brunch. Rudest waitress ever. Poor service, blunt, extremely slow on the drinks, generally rude. Drinks tasted like dishwasher tablets, food mediocre. Have never done a bottomless and been worried about asking for more drinks. Equally never done a bottomless and left sober, very disappointing. Really, really poor. Would not recommend.

I had the garlic pit prawn, the crispy chilli squid , plantain and the garlic flatbread. the garlic pit prawn was good and the squid was tasty too. However, I didn't enjoy the garlic flatbread; it was too dry for me. On the bright side, I loved the plantain. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the cocktail, the classic mojito, as it was watered down and tasted too diluted to fully appreciate. The same went for the red leg spiced rum. Despite this, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was great. Overall, we had a good evening dining.

Alex, our server was very polite and was very impressive with his cocktail making skills, food was delicious and delivered fast. Will come back soon, would recommend to anyone with a taste for new experiences and soul food and amazing cocktails.

We had an awesome experience here, went for bottomless brunch and couldn’t be happier with the service we received. Our server Fran was super attentive and made our visit super enjoyable. Colchester has definitely been our best Turtle Bay experience to date, and we are will definitely be back soon !!

honestly wasn't expecting much from a Caribbean chain manned by almost entirely white staff, but was pleasantly surprised! if you have a blue light card definitely do use it - it's 20% off food + free cocktail(s!), altho you have to faff around with downloading the turtle bay app etc etc. try the goat curry - it's lush.

Conrad always provides great service! Always welcoming, friendly and helpful. Lovely place for great drinks and food. Cannot recommend enough!

Update: a return visit to Turtle Bay in Colchester. We were served today by Conrad, who was diligent polite and helpful. Sunday roast is a delight here and today's pork was as good as the previous beef. Still very happy with the dining experience here. This was my first visit to Turtle Bay although I have heard it is worth a visit. The staff were friendly and helpful although the service was slightly slow. We went for a roast dinner and it was incredible. Drinks were 2-4-1. I would like to go back when I am not driving! The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable although the music was good but a little loud for old ears! I would have liked to stay longer to try the dessert menu but we had somewhere else to be. This is a town centre eatery so there is not parking in the immediate vicinity.

I was excited about eating here but left a little disappointed. The two starters were lovely. Mac n cheese balls and calamari which we shared. We both had jerk chicken breast with rice and peas and slaw. The chicken was dry but well seasoned. The rice was dry and needed a sauce or gravy. There was supposed to be gravy but I didn’t get any. Service was excellent.

The whole experience was amazing, the waiting staff were very knowledgeable and attentive, Rachel welcomed us to our table and the service was 100%. The food was delicious, so many beautiful flavours, especially the rice and peas, yummy!

Food is just about adequate, "two for one" cocktails are twice the price they should be. Service is friendly though.

Fran was excellent. We had the reggae roast and bottomless. Food was on point and cocktails flowing.
