Tribe African Restaurant in Lewisham

Had a lovely meal here with my husband … very tasty ogbono soup and the jollof was sweet … all of the meat was very tender and well cooked! Nice music and staff .. what more can you want 😍

One of my best experiences at an African Restaurant. The homely ambience and prompt service was quite refreshing. I enjoyed pounded Yam and egusi soup at Tribe, and the prices were very reasonable for such a high standard meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to seasoned African food lovers and people who want to experience African cuisine for the first time.

Restaurant not family orientated, food bland and cold, majority of food advertised was not available, services very poor, presentations very poor, food was a disaster.

I went there yesterday 20th June with family. The food was not nice and not fresh. I asked for semo not available my aunt asked for a number of things and it was not available. The customer service was off putting, I should have known it will only go down hill from there! I will not recommend this restaurant! DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!

Visited this restaurant for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. The ambience was great, and really CLEAN! Caught a glimpse of the kitchen and it was sparkling clean. The food was delicious. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. An all round great experience. Would go back any day and refer people.

I visited Tribe African Restaurant on a recommendation by a friend that had eaten there, and I must say I am glad for the recommendation. The interior design really catches the eye and place oozes of character and class. The decor suggests a delicate touch and contributes to a homely atmosphere that is easily felt thanks to what seems to be a stellar sound system with televisions well placed in the space. Service is timely and coupled with brilliant presentation while the staff are personable and attentive. The pepper sauce that goes with the grilled fish is definitely something i'll come back for. The Tribe grilled fish is my recommendation, the portion is very good and highlights the fantastic taste and presentation that the place displays throughout. I will definitely be visiting this place again. It is a breath of fresh air that is highly needed in a sea of African restaurants that leaves a lot to be desired.

I was on the bus heading to Surrey Quays when my eye caught something that looked new in the Evelyn Street Square...mmm I thought i will definitely have to check this out. now a couple of weeks passed by and yet I did not get the change to be nosy and check what this hidden place has to offer. Anyways my lovely sisters came from Paris and Nice for a visit , and after a full day of shopping we were discussing about our dinner ( trust me we spend most of our time and money on food when we are together) we wanted something good, filling , full of flavor and homely ...LIGHT BULL MOMENT. Girlsssss there is this new restaurant...sorry African restaurant near me and i have dying to give it a try why don't we just try it tonight . It didn't take much convincing off the bus and straight ti Tribe Africa we go. As soon as we entered the restaurant we wowed , the decor and atmosphere is welcoming , peaceful , warm no aggressive colors and loud Nollywood/music playing at the background unnecessarily ( now I love a good Nija dish but let's be honest most time the settings are not great ). You can tell that the owners have an eye for detail and wanted to create something distinguished and that was achieved (now im not architect or interior designer however my other half whom work in the industry went there a couple of weeks after us and was pleased by the interior just as much as the food ). Anyways lets talk about the service and the food , we were greeted by Conrad *Director* we welcomed us to the bar area as we were ordering to take away , offered us some drinks and advice my sisters on the menu ( i didn't need no help lol nothing was unfamiliar to me ) we place our order and had a lovely discussion with Conrad , I will not say he has great customer service , because you could simply tell that he is a genuinely nice , passionate , dedicate person( he even offered me a drink for my daughter and let her play with the bell ). Food arrived in a timely manner and off we went to devour our meal , now we couldn't get home fast enough ...we got cosy and BAMMM silent in the house as we started to CHOP. The flavors , freshness , and size portion was mwahhhhh *doing the Italian gesture * i had to share mine with my daughter and trust me she didn't want me to share ( at only 10months old lol ). We were simply happy , happy with our discovery , happy to have met Conrad, happy that it is just around the corner and happy with the food. So guys if you are looking to take your other half out for a great meal , or maybe a family dinner yet again any sort of celebration i will highly recommend TRIBE AFRICAN. Don't just take mine and my stomach words for it , book a table , be impromptu...YOLO and just go have a nice meal with the TRIBE family.

The food and service at Tribe Is outstanding! The cocktails are heavenly and will certainly tantalise your tastebuds. The ambiance is very warm and engaging. I was particularly impressed by the friendly and hospitable staff as they certainly went the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. I will definitely be returning soon.

My friends and I went to this beautiful restaurant called Tribe African restaurant. The decor was beautiful, with a little touch of Africa. The food was delicious. We all was introduced to a drink called the Chapman very tasty and sweet can be made as a Virgin or with alcohol. And the owner was so friendly and welcoming. And another thing I loved was the bathroom had all the essentials that a women would need from perfume, hand cream etc. Will definitely be going back there again. :)

The food is super good, I really enjoyed the assorted meat pepper soup I had. The portions are really good and the taste is wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Cosy, lively, freindly and tasty and wonderful African food in town. Its a place I can call home, chilled and the food is absolutely great...That fish is really tasty and my recommendation..I have my lunch when I am home working..

I absolutely love this place!! From the clean elegant decor, chilled music vibes and great food. Tribe had easily become part of my Sunday routine. I come after church for a lovely authentic, sumptuous meal. This is my 4th visit and I’m steadily working my way through the menu. Lol. The grilled fish was lovely and quite generous that I had to share mine with a friend. Love the Yam Pottage, the jollof and nkwobi! 😋😋 My staple is the Yam, eggs, plantain and stew, I believe it’s called Triblette on the menu. Try it with some suya! And thank me later! It’s a bit of a distance for me to get to but it’s well worth it. Highly recommended!!!

Fantastic restaurant, the decor is absolutely amazing!!! Great food, great atmosphere, excellent and customer service ...to top it all, the food was delicious. I have a fetish for seafood! Myself and the hubby came together for lunch and we ordered the tilapia fish with Yam, Plantain and Salad. It was awesome!!! I will definitely be back with my friends so they can have a taste of my experience!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😍😍👌🏽

I love Nigerian food but I do not eat meat or fish so it is very difficult to find a restaurant where my carnivore husband and I can it! Tribe Restaurant is clean and elegant. The background music is not overpowering. The food is well presented and I had the best yam pottage in years. Delicately spicy, freshly cooked and green! I will go back for egusi and amala.

This restaurant is one of the best African restaurants in London. The food is amazing, interior is lovely and it’s a good place to take friends and family to. You really don’t need to be African to go there. It is simply a lovely place to be. I would highly recommend this place.

The food was fantastic, I had the seafood Okra, this was so fresh and delicious I could not believe what I was seeing. The restaurant space is so clean with crisp white linen on the table. Ambient music was coming from a Bang and Olufsen...
