Trawlers Catch in Mid Suffolk

The fish and chips used to be excellent but the last good quality food I had from here was in spring 2023. Not sure if the owner changed but food certainly. The cod is always very good, but the chips are actually not edible each time. The smaller chips are so dry and hard that they go to bin each time. Only the larger chips are ok. Yesterday I ordered chicken strips and they were hard and dry. Looked and tasted like they were re-heated or re-cooked. What happened to this quality chip shop?

So badly organised, I waited 45 mins with 3 other customers and can’t understand why 4 orders take 45 mins. If you are in a rush or hungry I wouldn’t bother risking it. Not amazing quality food or service either

Ordered online as thought it would be quicker. What a big mistake that was! Had been there for 20 minutes before our order was even passed to the cook. Service has always been very slow and tedious. Would have been quicker to go home and cook something.

Great food and very tasty will be returning fantastic fish not greasy and enough chips for 2 people

Food took 20 minutes to come and was a simple order. We were one of the first customers and all of the others got served, and their food way after we ordered. I understand you are working hard but when I got my food I had family waiting in the car and they were not happy as they hadn’t eaten since lunch. I also was very very unhappy to see a hair in my food

Poor portions, scampi an chips come in a small box, no salad with scampi like moat chip shops. Sure i had all the left over chips very bitty

I pre ordered this evening and was told to come in at 7.30pm to collect. I did so and still waited another 30 mins for my order. In fact a busy take away was empty by the time I was served. How can fish and chips take one and a half hours despite being pre ordered 45 mins before. Never again.

Food isn’t to bad bit hit and miss . One day nice and another day poor . Leave food on top of counter left to long .As kebabs get to wet and pitta bread gets very wet and soggy . . Also no card machine so cash only and they forget your waiting and your food is. Left on top of counter

Absolutely rubbish and will not return. Waited 45 mins for 2 cod and chips. People who ordered theirs after me received them much soon, when I asked for the second time where my order was I was told they were still cooking my fish, not sure why others fish was cooked before mine. This is not the first time they have messed up our order or we have waited far too long, but gave them the benefit of the doubt, but after this will definitely not be returning. If you want to wait 45 mins for your order, received cold food and terrible customer service I would highly recommend this place, as for me I will take my business else where.

This Chippy has the best chips about !!! Just a shame their service is poor. (At best) I have booked collections frequently and rarely ready on time anymore. So Friday 4th November left order for 5 large cod and chips . Portion of large chips and Curry sauce and peas. Not the hardest order to put together . Collection for 6.30. Ordered and paid for the day before. So arrived at 6.25 pm and got told about 10 mins. At 6.40 got told there were others in front and would have to wait, even after I questioned the fact the order was for collection at 6.30. Finally got my food at 6.50 and they still forgot the curry sauce !! Needed to collect at 6.30 as we had plans. It’s a shame that no one takes ownership of the staff on the counter as the food they serve is really good quality and I enjoy it.

Amazing chicken kebabs fresh salad sauce not needed. Perfect every time . My son tells me the fish cakes are great

Had to remind them that my 2 curry sauces were sat on the side. Got home and missing a portion of chips. This has happened a few times before. We give up now and will take our orders for a family of 6 elsewhere.

45 minutes after ordering purely chips and kebabs I felt the reasonable need to ask about where my order was, fortunately the weather was fine and mild as I stood outside with many other frustrated customers, some frustrated with waiting for a ridiculous amount of time and others who had their orders handed to them incorrectly and some on more than one occasion. The management control and the the ability to designate duties around many young members of staff was embarrassing to watch through the window from the outside, it was more representative of a pantomime or kinder gar-ten . On questioning I was told they were just waiting for chips??? When they had clearly forgotten about my order placed nearly one hour earlier, perhaps because of incoming phone orders they clearly couldn’t cope with, or from the crowd that was waiting or more so increasing and irate outside with me. Little wonder they are advertising for new part time staff on the window, completely unfair on the working generation of tomorrow, awful service and when we brought the order home it was missing sauces. Any longer I wish I had ordered breakfast cereal, a disgrace on a service of fast food………

I was one of a few customers who ordered in person, most ppl ordered by phone, (this appears to be the only way to get what you want and within a decent time scale clearly) having been told they didn't have any large cod and tried to pay by card and told it was cash only, I said it was unusual as covid times etc... and to use the cash machine across and car park. And was made to wait 20 minutes outside for my food whilst those that order by phone came and went with their large cod, I was standing directly outside the door and knew my food was ready a good 10 minutes before I got it as I could hear it being called. When my food finally came out to me my name was shouted aggressively by the woman running the shop, was made to walk over to her everyone else's got delivered to them. Why was I treated differently to everyone else? Was it because I wasn't a regular? Had short hair? Am a little on the large side? Didn't phone my order in? Terrible customer service will not be returning.

Always have a good fish & chips from here. Owners very welcome & accommodating. Can order by telephone to save waiting. Very clean .

Phoned order in, to collect at 6.15, arrived on time had to queue outside, finally got in the shop, food not ready. Told fish was in the fryer, please wait outside. 6.30 went back in the shop told your fish has just gone in the fryer. I said I was told that 15 minutes ago. Went back outside. Saw a notice in the window “ telephone your order in” Now what is the point in that as the food isn’t ready for the collection time. Finally got my order a 6.50. Will not be going there again

As an NHS key worker working on front line I must say this owner is only interested In lining his pocket , he is so disrespectful , a small polite request to maybe use both his doors to property to prevent infection was disregarded , he is only interested in making money , and as I left he told me not to come back , believe me I will not return , but I will go to work on ITU tomorrow night and try my best to help , please think twice about using this awful fish and chip shop , food was awful also , and staff side by side , not safe

Very pleased that Trawlers Catch is open for business. Great fish and chips! And so handy to have them close by.

Trawlers Catch opened its doors yesterday 21 of January 2020. I have once again had the best fish and Chips in town .

Never again 3rd time I've been overcharged or given the wrong meal Check your order before you leave

On 3 separate occassiions latelyI have purchased food from the Trawlers Catch . The kebabs and fish as excellent but on all three visits the chips have been dreadful. They are discoloured at the ends i.e. grey, the chips are dry and tasteless and basically not edible. Whether they are using 'cheap' potatoes I don't know but I will not be buying chips again from them as it is like throwing my money away as we never eat the chips due to their condition Pat

Reliably good. Regular customer, never disappoints. Fish moist, kebabs tasty with fresh salad and tender chicken.

I've probably used this shop a little too much! But everything is just so good! The fish they've usually supplied has to be divided as it's bigger than the box! Sausages, saveloys, pies, and kebabs are also on offer, and the portion size is usually quite large!I won't stop coming here!

Freshly cooked, good quality fish and decent chips. Can be busy at times. Generally parking available.

Went there as new. Is a lovely fish and chips shop and have good portions sizes. Not greasy and no bones to pick out not like round the corner fish and chip shop.Would recommend this fish and chip shop to everyone. Very friendly staff was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. Def be going back.

Was supposed 2 b a medium piece of cod but as you can c it’s obviously not, normally this place is good but recently it’s gone down hill, obviously time 4 a change !!!!

Travelling home around 8.00 on Thursday and we were too tired to cook, so opted to call in at the Trawler’s Catch.

I visited at 8.30 pm on a Friday evening only to be told they had sold all the chips in the fryer and would not be putting on anymore because it had been a busy evening and it was nearly closing time. They don’t close until 9.30. They were quite rude about it when I pointed out that there was an hour until closing time. Usually a decent place that I’ve visited a few times but now I will not return. Shame.

Cooked to order so be prepared to wait a few minutes. A medium portion of chips is ample for two of us. And the Medium fish is quite large. The kebabs are A1+

Not your average chippy. Went for fish and chips and realized a much larger selection. Burgers, nuggets, pies... We got ours to go. Two orders of fish and chips plus gravey and mushy peas for under 15 quid. Everything was delicious.

Nothing better than Fish and Chips from Trawlers Catch on a Friday night.

A good fish and chip shop, that also sells the best kebabs in the area,the fish and kebabs are cooked to order, so if busy, you could wait up to 30mins. but well worth the wait, you know it's fresh, and not been under the glass for three hours!!

This is more than just a chippy, it does great kebabs too. Plenty of staff means that service is snappy and fast. A regular stop off for us for its quality.

Love having this place in the village.

This is an innovative fish and chip shops, fish is cooked to order as well a do are kebabs but we only use it for fish and chips.
