Tommy's Cafe in Torfaen

Great food, amazingly quick service and will definitely be returning. Their menu has a lot of variety and I’m excited to try something new on my next visit as well as a glass of bubbly or maybe even a cocktail. A local gem!

Great place for brunch, good coffee and excellent well presented food. Probably the best bacon anywhere. Their brownies are also to die for. Have taken family members and they are also impressed. Can't wait to try an evening pizza now that they are licenced.

Having heard great reviews of this relatively new independent, we were left extremely disappointed! We arrived at Tommy's today and placed our order at around 13:10. Understandably it was busy at this time but having waited until 13:50 no food had arrived. Further guests who came in at around 13:40 recieved there meals before us. To top off this horrific visit, the staff initially sat on the table next to us eating food served by the kitchen! Not only this but they could also be seen eating whilst going in and out of the kitchen. I understand everyone is entitled to breaks but to see guests sat for so long with no update or acknowledgement was disappointing. A full refund was recieved but no remorse or apology from the unattive staff! Hospitality is a difficult place in 2024 but without basic people skills/staff training. The venue will struggle to fulfill its potential.

Great fresh tasty food, food didn’t take long even tho it was very busy. Tasted as good as it looked highly recommend I cannot wait to come back

Food was average for the price and the service was not great location is great for eating before you go to town I definitely will try the take away option and sample more of the menu

We recently moved to the area and decided to give this place a go after visiting the nearby 'What' store. We started out waited patiently behind a customer who was very, very unsure of what they wanted. No big deal at first but five minutes became ten minutes, which then became fifteen minutes of waiting behind one single customer. Rather than manage the situation, perhaps by moving on to the next customer and coming back to her once she decided what she wanted, the staff member just kept offering new permutations of things she could have. It seemed like every time the customer would finally settle on an order, the member of staff would say 'right, I'm upselling here but...' and would proceed to offer other things she could have, which then spiralled her into even more umming and ahhing. It eventually got to the point that we just had to leave empty handed. All in all a very weird experience, bordering on surreal. I'm sure he had good intentions and will try to defend it as 'good customer service' but it was, in fact, the complete opposite. The lack of awareness and ability to navigate that situation wasted everyone's time and lost these guys some business.

Awful food and waited ages for our food. The buttermilk chicken coating was burnt and the chips were full of fat. Would not be coming here again!

Absolutely stunning, putting this out there, the best breakfast I've had in ages. You must try this venue.

The first time we eat at Tommy's for Breakfast. Food was excellent, very clean and staff were very polite! Definitely go there again!

1st time visit to this litter cafe with daughter, son in law and grandson. Small cafe, very busy. Daughter ordered her food just before I did. 3 breakfasts for her, 2 for me. Hers came our relatively quickly, and we expected ours to be straight after that. I It wasn’t! They had long finished their food before ours arrived. In fact another table of 4, that arrived after we did got their food ahead of us. We asked one of the servers about our food, and was told ‘it won’t be long’. Took another 10 minutes for ours to arrive. A good 35 mins after our daughter and family were served theirs. Saying this, the food we had ( omelette and regular breakfast ) were very tasty.

We’ve been a couple of times now to give this place the benefit of doubt. I’m not a big fan to be fair. We’ve had to wait ages for our orders, got meals at different times, had to remind staff we were there and had to ask for our drinks as not made. We went again today, got inside the door and was abruptly told they were closing and to come back again. No thank you, I don’t think we’ll bother

We were really excited to try Tommys Cafe. The photos always looked amazing on their social media pages. We ordered Pepperoni pizza and the spicey chicken bao buns on the Uber ears App. The pizza tasted like shop bought pizza. It was below average. The boa Buns were stale & the chicken itself under the batter had no flavouring or taste. The biscoff pancakes were fluffy and tasted amazing but were so dry and needed more sauce. The cream that was provided was warm and tasted sour. We are gutted as we’ve been looking forward to trying Tommys for a while, but sadly with what we were served tonight was more favourable on the eye than on the palette. Great ideas. We will be back if there is improvement.

Had the small breakfast with added black pudding, food was excellent and would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Keep up the excellent work.

We have been 4 times now. And I have had something different every time I’ve visited and all have been amazing. Fab service and amazing food. Would highly recommend. I am slightly obsessed with it. A must have!!! Breakfast Pancakes French toast Fresh orange juice Brownies/ blondes by Beth bakes all in one place perfection. I am I need of trying the baguettes as they also look amazing. And also the evening menu is on my todo list. Again can’t recommend enough!

If you want a full English breakfast, GO HERE! Honestly this was the best cooked breakfast I have ever had, cooked beautifully, flavour full sausages, crisp hash browns, tasty mushrooms. Will definitely be going again to try some of the selection of cake items I...
