Been here many times over the years, and is usually a good place to eat but tonight was very disappointing. Food was very mixed; meat was being rushed out and not cooked properly; turkey had no flavour; potatoes crispy on outside but like thick soup inside; peas were like bullets; green beans like slime. Very disappointing. Think we’ll be giving it a miss until things improve

Regular once a month gathering for a group of retirees. Good value roast lunch in pleasant surroundings. The lunches are organised and managed by Toby Carvery's Vicky. Excellent host always cheerful, friendly and well organised. Vicky has been doing this for some years and ensures we all have a good time and the tables are laid out to accommodate a mix of small groups. With thanks Paul

Had a lovely meal and experience at Toby carvery today. We were served by Carla who was very welcoming and efficient. Kitchen manager, Johnnie, addressed the needs of our son fantastically (dairy allergy) and was great with our kids (definitely went above and beyond to make our meal brilliant). Would definitely return.

Great food and lovely wait staff, Irene was amazing and provided a great service and welcoming feel to the restaurant thanks to her hospitality we had a great meal would come again.

Really impressed with Toby Carvery. Great food and super service… most notably Ellie who was really helpful. The kids especially loved their sundaes!

Food is amazing!! And the staff are great!! We visit regularly with friends. It’s a lovely atmosphere,great for a catch up!

Disappointed to say the least, cups were dirty , plates were dirty and scratched badly, no spoons for tea and coffee, nobody greeting you at the front so I was telling people to go straight to the bar as no staff have been there all morning. 5 builders walked straight in and started filling there plates up without paying! They brought their own knifes and forks in so a free breakfast! 1 staff was constantly in the kitchen talking instead of greeting people. Really poor service. I expected better.

Always a fab evening here. The food is good, meat and selection of vegetables really varied. But the main reason we return is Irene. She’s a superstar, and remembers her customers, what they drink and their favourite desserts. A true Toby Carvery legend!!!

Always enjoy the occasional carvery, especially when I was sent a voucher for a £6 carvery, and it's just up the road! There was a mix up over our booking I'd had an email saying it was cancelled..a very helpful lady sorted it out when we arrived. The carvery was good and a nice selection of vegetables. Irene was out waitress she was lovely and very efficient.

We always enjoy coming to Toby East Hunsbury. All the staff are so welcoming and the food is always good. Tonight we had Amy as our server, she’s so friendly and really looked after us. She’s a great asset to the team. We look forward to our next visit x

We come here occasionally for lunch or dinner as we live close by. Always met by friendly staff and the carvery is very good, with a good choice of roasts and very wide range of vegetables. There is also an a la carte menu, but we usually have the carvery!!

A lovely Toby roast for my mums birthday. Kids all cleared their plates. Beef was especially delicious. Our waitress was Elle. Drinks were waiting for us on the table when we got back with our food and plates were quickly cleared away afterwards.

Met by very chatty lady showed our table, didn’t like it so given another in a lighter area with no issue at all. Bar staff were smiling and happy. Met chef at carvery he was lovely & joked with us. Explained about the cut of beef, it did look nice. He listened to what we wanted. Food was yummy. Vegetables cooked to perfection, mash wasn’t lumpy, and gravy was tasty & hot. 😊

where do i begin , went for breakfast with friends as havent been there before and wont be returning as it is a dreadful place for breakfast , queued up to get our breakfast from self service buffet OMG what a disgusting site , black pudding wasnt a lovely fresh black colour it was a horrible dark grey with orange patches so it look more rusty than fresh , the eggs were all hard and ripped to shreds so i asked for fresh eggs and black pudding to be told the black pudding had just come out which wasnt true as there was about ten of us in the queue and i said what they were all thinking it wasnt edible it was fit for the bin , the chef brought fresh eggs out now and the tin with the dried up eggs should of been taken away and a fresh clean tin with freshly cooked eggs bought out but OMG no the new fresh eggs were tipped on top of the old dried up eggs so i said what are you doing you should take the old ones away and put the new ones in a clean tin and what a surprise he looked at me gone out then the waitress said i will move the old ones to the side , now what training is that , other tins were empty and just left there and nothing replenished absolutely disgusting , now a front of house managers job is to keep an eye on the food levels and the freshness of the food so that its appetising to the customer she should of got all that replaced as if it was me as i am a front of house manager what was there for the customer wouldnt of left the kitchen in the first place , its no good sitting in an office you have to be alert and on the ball so all customers get the best experience and want to come back but no she came out the office gave us our money back and that was it , no apology i told her to look at the food the chefs were bringing out for your customers and she just said i will so casual as if she wasnt really bothered at all as if you have your refund now go , not very professional , thats the problem people are employed who arent passionate about there job in hospitality and it shows there otherwise she would of got all that food removed and freshly appetising food brought out but that started to happen as we were leaving but it shouldnt take a complaint to do this , the front of house manager should of been there to see what was coming out for the customers but no one was there so really bad management and they dont care , we wont be returning
