Lovely food and friendly staff. Portions are a nice size. Just a lovely feel to the place. We will definitely return if in the area again. Chicken kebab was the best I’ve had !

Outstanding high quality food with great service. Not been in for a few years but we remembered it was good before. Now it's just on another level. We'll be back soon with friends as something this good needs to be shared.

First time at this lovely small restaurant. The food was excellent, and the lady who was serving was very friendly and polite. Hummus and bread were tasty, and Imam bayaldi was amazing. Definitely would be going again.

After a long day of walking at the coast, we were really hungry and hunting for some good food. Following the great reviews, we chose Meze and hoped it would be just half as good as promised. Unfortunately, our dog was not allowed inside and had to stay in the car close by - but also understandable as it is not a big space. We were served quickly and friendly, had our beverages in minutes. Selecting from the fair sized menu was quick - a variety of starters for my wife and just a main for me. I am glad, I did not fall for the delicious looking starters because the mixed platter for 2 is really plenty and I couldn't have eaten anything else. Our order arrived within 15 minutes and we were delighted. The starters tasted fantastic, very well seasoned, not too much of anything. My charcoal roasted lamb kebab was the highlight of the dinner - the quality of the meat was premium and grilled to perfection. It was definitely among the best lamb dishes I have ever had. Compared to the regular pub food, Indian or Italian restaurants, the value for price relation is fantastic. Thank you for the great service and the wonderful food. What a great find outside of our hometown Berlin with thousands of Turkish restaurants. I absolutely recommend Meze if you are visiting or if you live here and have never bothered.

Cute venue with some personality. The food was fresh and tasty. We opted to just get the mezze starter and that was plenty of food for two people. Staff was great and friendly. Love this place.

Had an amazing birthday dinner here! Gem was fantastically knowledgable about vegan food and fed me and my family a delicious vegan meze and mains. We drove 45 minutes to visit and will definitely be back

Great food with great atmosphere! Quite different than usual Turkish restaurants that do just kebab. They serve real turkish cuisine and it is very delicious. We ordered mititi for our daughter and it was super delicious as well.

Had a lovely meal here tonight for my wife's birthday. This place is a hidden gem in the Darlington area. Friendly atmosphere and highly recommended. We will definitely be returning in the very near future. I would highly recommend the mixed kebab which was cooked to perfection. My wife had the Chicken supreme which was delicious. The staff and the owner were very friendly. This place had lovely decor and the Turkish lamps look amazing. I don’t normally leave a 5* review, but this business highly deserves it.- Many thanks for a memorable evening.

I have been coming here for many years and I visited with friends last night and it was excellent. Meze for starter and a mixed kebab for mains, absolutely delicious and great value..... there is nowhere any better.

Thirteen of us visited Meze on Thursday 20th April 2023 for dinner which we pre booked well in advance. Meze had been recommended by a colleague and boy did it not disappoint. The service was outstanding, as was the food, and everyone commented on what a lovely place it was. Other people have said it in their reviews but it really is a hidden gem and only a few steps from the Theatre. I would thoroughly recommend visiting; outstanding value.

Tonights steak night mainly but, sirloin steak, rib eye and mixed meze served even though and cannot fault the little gem of darlingtons restaurants. Portion size was very generous and service was fast and cooked perfectly.

Have been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. There is a good atmosphere, and although the menu is not extensive, the ingredients are always fresh, beautifully cooked and of generous proportions, and I would particularly recommend the mixed starter. There is a good range of drinks and the service is excellent. Would recommend strongly.

Didnt expect this place to have such great food but I was wowed from the first bite 😍! They have a selection of halal food too which was brilliant and the staff were amazing! Natalie looked after us and made sure everything was okay 👌 food portions are huge too! Was extremely happy with the food and service. I will be returning😁

Awesome food, great value. Ordered food for 4 people, spent £50 but impossible to eat all that on one go there was so much food. It was tasty and fresh. The girl on the phone (I think she said she's called Natalie) was very kind and helpful with picking right meals and stuff. I will definitely order from them again.

We had a wonderful meal here on the eat out to help out scheme. Very generous portions in our mezes left us almost not needing our mains. The mains were also generous and very tasty.

Lovely small restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful, food delicious. We had the meze starter followed by shish kebab and chicken shish kebab, all excellent. Atmosphere very genuine, reminded me very much of tavernas we have been to whilst on holiday. Not upmarket just lovely and honest.

Update as of 28/09/19 Its been far too long since we visited our favourite Turkish restaurant. We finally got an opportunity to go and we couldn't be more excited. With a bottle of the efes draught, it was time to wait for the culinary experience we've being craving. The mixed meze as always did not disappoint. Made up of 8 small portions of turkish style tapas, its a great way to start a meal. Then when you think your finished out comes cheese and spicy sausage. Enough food for four but undefeated we readied for the next course. Oh Don't forget the freshly baked bread that accompanies the starter. The İskender has to be the restaurants signature dish. Lamb, beef, chicken, pitta topped with some Turkish butter. This dish puts any mixed grill to shame. In the handful of years I've been coming here, the iskender just gets better! As always we enjoyed conversation with the owners, who are always a pleasure to talk too. This is by far one of Darlington's hidden gems. It deserves more recognition, for how lovely the resturant is. You'll struggle to get a better experience anywhere else. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you for another lovely meal. 27th of August 2018 Ate here last night which probably makes 6 or 7 times since our first time. Over the years its just better. By far one of the most underated restaurants in Darlington aswell as been one of the best. You don't associate Darlington with good food. Maze is the expection! Family run, authentic Turkish food cooked by a very talented chef. Washed down with the meds favourite lager EFES. If this restaurant was in the centre we would all go. As its a hidden gem off the beaten track only the lucky ones get to eat at this amazing restaurant. Thoese that appreciate good food will enjoy this restaurant. A warm greeting awaits you from the mum and daughter who make you feel like family. The food that will send you into a food coma with its generous portions and tastes that put you in the heart of Turkey.
