I ordered this for takeaway off the back of a recent food review video I had seen. I wanted to try the short rib doughnuts with dipping sauce. I also got the Vietnom fries as a main meal. They forgot to send the dipping sauce with the doughnuts...so although they were nice, I think that the sauce would have made a huge difference to the overall taste. Then onto the Vietnom fries...I got the one with sticky short rib and was really surprised how bad it was. The short rib was far too salty to the point it was not enjoyable, I ended up throwing most of it away (which I never do). I got my money back on the doughnuts because they were missing a vital addition but still feel like I am owed a full refund for just how bad the whole thing was. Truly a shame as I was expecting big things...

What a shame! We dined at Thief Street on Saturday night around 5pm and managed to find a table quickly. Vibrant atmosphere as you would expect for this time of year and looked forward to our food after having seen so much of it on socials - but appearances in thia case are deceiving… We ordered the nom noms, the manc rib burger an the and the boneless bucket to share and try them all. The burg meat was cooked well, but the marinade tasted solely of 5 spice and was very runnie and was pooled in the bottom of the service basket and made the bum soggy. The chicken in the bonelss bucket had a good batter but it was dry, very dry! It is served with slaw and a pot of gravy but like the burger marinade, the gravy was extremely runnie and lacked flavour. The nom noms were nice, very sweet but the dipping sauce balanced it out. We left most of the chicken and fries and half the burger and made the staff aware who offered to send a manager over but we refused as we wasnt trying to rip anyone off, just give honest feedback. Overall dissapointing.

A nice bar which doesn't get overly busy, we visited on a Saturday night and didn't take too long for a table to become available. They have a lot of craft beers available , the one suggested to my partner was green, he found it very nice! The food was good but there was a minimal amount of sauce on the chicken which made it too dry but overall it was a good meal. The staff were great and theres a few bar games you can play too

Been looking forwards to trying it for some time but sadly, it was just ‘ok’. The chicken wasn’t really very juicy and the coatings and sauces were all way too salty- and I’m a savoury person! Didn’t bring it up in the restaurant because it was just ‘fine’ but I’m still on the search for some good saucy fried chicken in Manchester!

The food was amazing. Not much atmosphere, but we went during lunchtime, so it was very quiet. Tables left dirty even though it was quiet, but the food was worth the money and worth the travel. Would recommend and would visit again. Paid £36 for this platter

I was really hyped up for this place because it was advertised highly on Instagram and looked delicious. However was left disappointed, we ordered the £30 bucket which was definitely not worth it. The chicken barely had any meat on it, it was more coating than actual meat and the coating actually tasted a burnt and overly done. It was difficult to bite into the chicken, even when dipped in sauce. The nicest thing was probably the slaw it came with.

The single worst dining experience of my entire life! I have never left a restaurant with such a bad taste in my mouth. Me and my partner had seen this place on TV and thought it would be a really fun night to come and try some Korean fried chicken and potato waffles. How wrong we were. Firstly the chicken we received had clearly been prepped at least a day in advance, over done coating, that was mushy on the inside, woody texture of the chicken. The waffle was so under cooked to the point that it tasted like wall paper paste and burned on the outside. I took it too the bar and once the bar tender decided to stop sitting on the back bar I was told I simply do not know what I'm talking about that this is how potato waffles taste . My decade of working in kitchens and bars I have never seen such poor customer service and I have never left so much food in my life. For the best part of £30 for two meals I feel like I have been ripped off and I will never be back. I advise anyone who has seen this place to avoid like the plague. There are hundreds of great places to eat i ln Manchester!

Great venue, really enjoyed the Cantonese style pork and waffles (was a little too heavy on the hoisin sauce) so would be best to share 😅 will come again though

Tried this place for dinner some time ago. Ordered few bits (maybe too much) which were enjoyable. The only minus thing I’d say is that the food is very heavy, and most of the menu items are deep fried. The bon-bons were delicious, definitely my favourite. The venue itself is nice too, it was a bit crowded but not rowdy. They have different games you can play. Would recommend.

Was on the list as a must visit for our most recent trip to Manchester and Thief Street did not disappoint. We had heard about the Nom Noms and the rumours are true. Explosive flavour with rich tender short rib meat masterfully coated with sticky siracha and glazed with the dipping sauce. Only down side is the portion size for the price - will still maintain 5 stars but hope they consider throwing an extra one in there It’s situated in Gasworks brew bar which is a perfect location, plenty of taps to choose from and particularly enjoyed the flyby darts Will be sure to visit again.

First time visiting this afternoon as we had seen it advertised on Facebook Reels. Gluten free options clearly labelled and we were really happy with our food, it was delicious. It wasn’t particularly busy when we arrived but it was a very nice atmosphere and wish we had arrived a little later as I’m sure it would be great! We didn’t play any of the games available as we didn’t have much time but they looked like great fun!

on our trip to manchester i visited this place with two friends. the reviews seemed to be good and the pictures seemed appetizing. the experience however was not as great. although we ordered together, one of us did not get his food when the others did. we had to come to the bar to ask where the food went and the waiter acted very uninterested and cold. the food quickly arrived with a short “sorry about that” from the waitress. the food itself was pretty good but it got cold while we were waiting. the venue was also colder than expected, so we had to wear our coats inside. the experience would have been much better if the waiters were at least a little bit friendlier or more willing to correct their own mistakes.

Went in for a quick bite to and food was great! We got the salt and pepper fried chicken with waffle fries, would highly recommend. Unfortunately they didn't have the viet nom nom which I wanted to try so will have to go back. The spacious bar easily accommodates walk ins and service was relatively quick

Yet again, Tiktok brought me here 🤣 It took us a little bit to figure out that Thief Street is in fact in The Gas works Brewbar. I must admit I walked past the A board several times but I obviously can't see for looking. I will start with the atmosphere and the service. Now I'm aware that Tief Street has no control over the service itself that Gas work provides. The staff were a bit meh, not a service to be very excited about, from the bar staff. There wasnt a long wait on the food so i am not going to give a bad service review as Thief Street were prompt with their side of the service. The atmosphere was really nice otherwise. Loads of people there appearing to really enjoy themselves. Not too loud. Now to the food ... The menu is nice and simple, not too many or not enough options. I only came to taste the Viet nom noms, I'll probably come another time to taste some other stuff on there. I also ordered the Mac'n'Kimchi because mac'n'cheese and kimchi .... I mean why not right? Soooo... The Viet nom noms, you get two, decent size doughballs? and the price is good. I will admit that I loved them, the sauce they come with is also really good. The only thing I would say is that It would be nice to have a juicier meat filling and then the viet not noms would be amazing even without the sauce. Thats the only thing I can complain about, otherwise the flavours of the filling were really complimented by the sauce. The texture of the dough was nice and soft with a crisp exterior. It was the perfect combination of sweet and savory with a little sharpness. I was really looking forward to the Mac'n'Kimchi but I was slightly disappointed. I never had these two things together so I have nothing to compare it with. You get 3 mac'n'kimchi bites, good size and price appropriately for what you get. I can't figure out if it was the mac and cheese with kimchi or the addition of the udang mayo that didn't agree with my taste buds. The bites were nice and crispy on the outside, the inside was dangerously close to being dry though. I'm a bit on the fence with these. All in all not a bad experience. Looking forward to coming back again and tasting some more things on the menu and maybe trying the mac'n'kimchi bites again with the udang mayo on the side this time around.

The food was good, but it took one hour to get a side dish (that is all we ordered), which in my book (busy or not) is a bit of a joke. There seemed to be only one guy serving and to his credit he was super busy and working hard. They look understaffed on the floor for the volume of people they serve. Help the waitor out! Get him some help! Food was great, but like I said...1 hour for a side dish is just unacceptable.

Inside of the local bar Thief Street serves delicious fried chicken, super crispy and juicy inside - some of the best fried chicken around. Also a very honourable mention is the viet nom nom's, I could go there just for them absolutely delicious!

A cool place to have drinks and chill with your friends. However, I wouldn't recommend the food; I got a chicken burger that came cold, and taste wise wasn't anything amazing.

Had some really lush food here, The Korean BBQ. Had to wait a little longer than I thought I would (barely 25 mins, well worth the wait) but I was really impressed with how they handled it. Just when I was starting to wonder about my food Lee came over to let me know it was on the way. When Will brought it over I got a free drink to say sorry, no prompting... Coming from a hospitality background, very impressed!! 100% come again if I'm up this way!!

It was hard to find until we discovered Thief Street is the food menu for the GasWorks pub. Nowhere was there a sign for Thief Street. Find a menu on a table and order at the bar. The service was fairly quick and the food was yummy.

Located inside of a unique hipster or young professionals bar filled with tasty options and traditional non-tasty beer options, Thief Street is an actual hidden gem. My wife and I stumbled around confused, looking for Thief Street for about 5 minutes appearing like lost dogs until we saw Thief Street with food options on a menu near the bar. But let me tell you! The food... omg. There wasn't a single thing that didn't hit the mark. We saw the place in a social media video and just happened to be in Manchester the next day. We had the platter for two which came with two loaded spicy chicken sandwiches, loads of incredibly spicy (described and asked for) tenders, a delicious cabbage salad, and some relatively basic but well dressed french fries. We also tried both appetizers and they were the kind of dishes you hope to see as a unique item and receive something close to what was described. The result was the opposite. The bites were legitimately better than could ever be expected, and perfectly described. I found out three days later after thinking I had food poisoning that I have an ulcer. I credit (with a 5 star review) the level of unique spice to triggering that discovery -- something I clearly have enjoyed too much of in my life. Recommend to all!

Food is to die for. Quality menu and flavours. We were able to adapt the dishes (i.e. no chillies ect). Had the Malaysian Thief Waffle which was so delicious and perfect portion size. Food came quickly and was a nice spot in the sun. Staff were helpful. Only down side was paying £4 for a pint of tap coca cola

The kids brought me here on Father's Day and it was great. Great location in the centre of Chorlton, small yet varied menu. Catered for both coeliac and children really well (we got the kids waffles with sides which wasn't on the menu). Quick, efficient and great value.

I could eat here everyday 50 times a day, the food has never been better. You are greeted by a fantastic patio area with a relaxed pleasant atmosphere and that's just the start of the story. I had the Korean BBQ waffle which was super. Dad really enjoyed his salt n pepper wings. Would I be wrong in saying it's probably one of the best eateries in Chorlton?. Enough said.

Had to wait a long time to get a table. The waiter told for walk In it’s first come first serve but he kept on prioritising other walk Ins with more than 2 people. The food was nice but not worth the wait. The Pho in china town is much better.
