The Whistlestop in Rochdale

We stopped while waiting for the train on our way to see the Gruffalo on the East Lancashire Railway. We had a couple of cafés which were really nice and our two children had hot chocolates with marshmallows. Then we took a couple of sausage rolls for the train. The staff were great, even giving us cupholders to leave when they could see we were struggling with kids, hot drinks etc., after the train arrived a little early. We will definitely return if we take the train again.

Great cafe and service in such a niche way. If you are or aren’t a train enthusiast it doesn’t matter. The hot chocolate is lovely and the steam trains are just a bonus. It can get busy when a stream train does arrive and priority is given to its passengers as they only have a 20 minute turnaround..

Really friendly and welcoming staff. Enjoyed a posh bacon sandwich and a lovely coffee. Nice to have a local place to have a brew. Bouns seeing the steam trains .

Always a warm and friendly welcome from caring and professional staff. The barista coffee is well made and as for the top quantity cakes, what can I say? Simply can't get enough of them! The hot 'n spicy sausage roll is a tempter too...but in truth the varied menu offerings will satisfy most needs. The latest offering is a bacon butty, served on brioche style bun...yummy, yummy said my tummy..

Four of us called in and found it to be a great railway carriage that had been turned into a cafe with fantastic food etc. The staff said they only been open for 7 weeks. The staff Michelle and Jenny were both very friendly and you could have a laugh with them.
