From the moment we entered until we left the service was spot on, staff so friendly and helpful food was really nice and good size portions Would highly recommend and would be definitely paying another visit

Sign outside says Real Ales, but they only have one (disappointing) Very friendly & welcoming staff.

Food and drinks were absolutely amazing. The staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We brought our little dog who was also welcomed with treats and cuddles. Can’t wait to come back!!

Disappointed after visiting on Saturday 6th July 2024. When I arrived with my three children I told the waitress we didn’t have a booking and if that was ok and she said we are really busy so you will have to wait which I explained was fine then she asked my son to take his bike outside which we were trying to do as the floor had just been replaced. He was 6 and was trying his best however a family in front of us had a large wheeled buggy and that was apparently fine. I tried to order drinks at the bar but was told to go back to my table as it was table service! Ordered our food and the order came incorrect. We had been waiting so long that we just ate it as we were very hungry. My two youngest wanted a dessert but nobody was interested in asking and I didn’t go to the bar as I was told it was table service! Won’t be going back. They were only interested in accommodating the large group of people in the restaurant and not a family of 4. Slow service and very average food. Chips were undercooked and I felt very under valued as a local customer.

Perfect family meal with grandchildren looked after by Claire who was most helpful and attentive. Food was delicious well presented. Garden was a bonus, children enjoyed the swings

Really lovely pub food with a good menu and delicious food very good value.and really good service. The pub has just had a make over and has a nice feel.I would of given five stars if it had been cleaner .

The first impressions of the Wheatsheaf Inn from outside are that it looks old. It is, which is an indication of its history, but do not be despaired, for delights await you inside. As an Aussie we Aussies would love to have a place to eat and drink as good as this. We arrived on a Sunday which was a bonus because the Sunday Lunch, served up in the rustic decore with a meal fit for a King and Queen and was assured to satisfy even the most ravenous of appetites. It did, and a casual glance around at the empty plates of the customers was indicative that the meal was going to be good, really good, big enough to fill my Aussie belly, and those of my friends and family. There is ample parking outside and plenty of room in the lawn area with tables to host guests. Kids might find plenty of space for outdoor fun. Aside from the cosy interior there is a colourful "cart" for want of a better word which looks like it might be intended for pizzas or other outdoor eating. The food was delicious, the drinks were cold and the friendly staff were ready to engage in a few laughs. Manager Clare and other team members Alana, Laila, Andrew and Tina looked after us like "2 Bob Watches". Thanks to all for a really good time.

Went for Sunday lunch with family. Booked in advance. We did book a table but sat outside as weather was lovely. Staff super friendly. Food was beautiful. Didn't have cash to leave a tip. Will recommend for next time. Will return.

Excellent food, the hamburger with chorizo was the best I have had in a while. Reasonably priced and the staff were first class and very helpful. We will be back.

On arrival, young girl was very helpful, very polite and professional. I had Sunday lunch which was very nice, all the trimmings and was given an extra gravy boat which was nice. Overall, nice, quiet and friendly staff, food and prices fantastic.

Went for Saturday lunch with the family. Good selection on menu and very reasonably priced. Felt like the food was home made, will certainly return!

We loved the friendly atmosphere at the Wheatsheaf Inn. They couldn't be more helpful. If you have a four-legged friend with you, then enjoy the bar and its friendy customers. It is a great camper/ pub stop, enjoy!!

stopped here with my parents and best friend before we went to beamish the next day. cosy and warm atmosphere, especially at christmas time. service made the food taste even better, some of the kindest staff i’ve ever met.

The food was amazing. Really good friendly staff. They made us feel really welcome. Unfortunately, a table next to our table, the language was disgusting.

Had an absolutely amazing Sunday lunch here today. Everything beautifully cooked with melt in the mouth beef. Real Yorkshire puddings and plenty of fresh veg. Staff lovely too! Will definitely be back.

Popped in for a quick Sunday lunch. A meatless dinner and a lamb dinner.. absolutely beautiful. You could eat either inside or outside, also takeaway. Staff were great. Service was great. Food and drinks are really good value. Very clean and welcoming. We will be visiting again soon.

Not very good on customer services, never check if our meal was okay and I had to wait 30 minutes for a main meal when everyone else on my table got there's then her to come over and say I haven't charge you for your meal when I said it twice to her.

Wonderful food fantastic staff great place to eat.

I first went to this pub and had just been taken over by it's new management and they are excellent. Very friendly and staff are very friendly and helpful. I had a meal and it was top class home cooked good quality and excellent value. We have been in every week twice a week since November and I would say it's a 10 out of 10 rating for quality value range and staff pleasant. I certainly will keep coming back and I do reccomend to all my friends and family

Me and my girlfriend enjoyed this restaurant very much. The food was outstanding, the portions plenty and the customer service spot on. Would recommend to anyone in and around the local area and beyond. Will definitely be visiting here again 👍

Basic pub with a lovely charm .They do a fabulous cup of tea ,preheated sturdy cup that you can get yer finger through to lift it .The brim is thick and feels substantial. Served on a saucer with side biscuity snack .Enough in the pot for 2 servings too . They sell beers too .oh and good food .

Been visiting regularly on Thursday nights for a while now. Friendly, down to earth pub. Reasonably priced drinks. The owners are lovely & welcoming. It's a dog friendly pub too, if you want to pop in after a walk. Large car park outside & easy to find. Big beer garden outside too when the weather allows.

We came here for our Sunday roast, absolutely stunning to say the least. Proper home cooked food, not commercialised rubbish. Food cooked from scratch by the owners and their staff, who I must say could not be more attentive and helpful if they tried. Perfect meal, brilliant staff, nice warm and welcoming feel to the pub. We'll be visiting again, no doubt about it.

Called in for bite to eat, car parking was good. Inside looked a little dirty lots of dead fly's on the window sill. I ordered mixed grill and garlic bread with cheese as I was starving, it took about 30-40 mins to arrive looked ok but was a bit of a token gesture the steak and lamb chop I don't think it could be any smaller. Started to eat it and soon discovered everything to tasted like the sausage must have cooked everything in the same pan. Garlic bread with cheese tasted greasy, someone in the kitchen drowned the poor thing in garlic oil. This place has potential though. Ps Clean the window sills!!

One of my favourites great food, lovely friendly atmosphere, the Owners are salt of the earth. Definitely a place you can take all the family including your 4 legged bestie. 🐶

Found this place by accident while cycling The C2C. What a find! Beer garden great, food wonderful and the staff were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch( there were 8 of us). Service spot on, reasonably priced as well with homemade chips!!!

Very good beer in the bar foods ok.good price beer a good price also.on the food. You can take dogs in to bar and eat in the bar area as well owners have working dogs nice dog people highest recommendation ☺️

Nice dog friendly place. We sat outside as had 3 dogs with us large grass area for them to run around at first as we were the only ones there later a few more people with dogs came so must be a popular spot.

Arrived with a big group of friends. Booked ahead. 4 families with around 20 people. Very friendly welcome. Drinks served promptly. Food ordered and was brought in good time. Not a scrap of food left, even by the fussy eaters! The hand cut chips were lovely as was my BBQ bacon cheeseburger. Wife had the lasagne and ate it all. Kids had the ham and pineapple pizza and loved it. Would recommend and will return!
