Returned to the Wee Café, only to find that it has now closed down. Very disappointed, as on previous visits it was very nice, always busy, and the food was good and reasonably priced.

Love when I visit Johnstone and get to go into no 47! Best poached eggs ever :) Food is always piping hot and it doesn't take forever and a day to get your order.

Soup and a sandwich I asked for. The soup was lentil, delicious, thick, wholesome. The sandwich was tuna mayo, but the salad I got was gobsmacking: a giant dinner plate full, delicious salad, super fresh. Tea with all that was well-brewed A really great place to eat. Great value for money. Slaìnthe! Rod.

On 8 May 2019 it was my 57th birthday, and I went along to my favourite local cafe for a bite of lunch with my sister and partner. I went in beforehand with some balloons which David said he would gladly stick up on the wall. When we arrived he had also put up a birthday banner in the corner next to the window, where I like to people watch. We were served in the usual welcoming manner by David and his assistant. As requested we had our hot drinks along with our wonderfully presented food. For my side salad I asked for some kind of dressing and David brought me a little dish with salad cream. The quirkiest bit of the visit was the surprise presentation of a piece of chocolate crispie cake (which David knows is my favourite) with a sparkler on top. It gave me a good giggle at a time when I am recovering from a long period of illness and this small gesture made my day. My sister Joanne had never visited the cafe before, but I'm sure it WON'T be her last visit, and of course, John and I will also be back!

Just popped in for a quick pint. Nice bar area with 2 big screens. Pint of Tennents, Boe Violet and Slimline £10.15 Don't think they serve food other than bar snacks.

The Spateson Inn is under new management and what a great job Susan is doing! It’s now much more of a community hub with books to read, board games to play, food offers and local community groups meeting there to do their thing. It’s bright, well-lit, modern, airy, spacious, welcoming and warm. I’ve only tried a few dishes to eat and both were good. It also has free parking, is dog friendly and on the bus route. Outdoor seating is available too for the nicer weather.
