Wonderful sunday lunch today, food excellent, very generous with size of meal Pleasant staff, but spoilt with poor welcome. Stood at bar for ages to order drinks, only to be told to sit at table & drink order would be taken from table. We then had to remind them that we hadn't had order of food taken by after half an hour waiting! However lovely place, tables beautifully presented.

We slept really well and ate very, very well! Traditional cuisine with taste and flavors… magnificent garden. I recommend!

✨️Stopped here for a couple of ciders after a very long warm walk around the surrounding countryside. Proper country pub 👌 didn't get a chance to try the food we came in when they weren't serving. However, the menu looked delicious. Really nice location put in the country ! 🍻

Absolutely terrific country pub. Smashing staff serving lovely, simple - but superb - pub grub. Excellent drinks range. Ask for the wine list as they have some crackers. Excellent bedrooms which despite being small are clean and beautifully presented. Lovely pub garden as well. All in the heart of a charming village.

Went here with Mid Devon Network Business Network for our Christmas party. Terrific service for us, food was really very good and our host even put on a fun quiz for us. Great time had by all, thank you and see you again soon! Returned today for their renowned Sunday Roast. We were not disappointed! Beef for me and turkey for my wife. Great selection of vegetables, gravy really full of flavour and potatoes cooked just right. Yorkshire pudding is nice and crispy too. It's really good value and their selection of THREE real ales on tap goes down well too. Their service is fast and efficient, you won't be hanging around waiting for long either. Can't recommend this place enough! Book now!

A super nice country pub! We reserved a table with friends. The service is a little long but that's because everything is made to order, so super fresh. The pie of the day (chicken and mushrooms) was succulent. The same goes for fish & chips. The quantities are such that we weren't able to have dessert! We ended the evening playing darts, in a cool atmosphere! And all this for a reasonable price. The staff is attentive, thank you for this moment!

We discovered the Thorverton Arms when we were looking for overnight accommodation for a wedding event being held at nearby Pitt Farm. The rooms were lovely, recently decorated, very clean and comfortable and great value. We received a really warm and friendly welcome with tea and coffee and upon our return from the day's festivities, we were welcomed back by many of the locals and the pub staff for a few drinks before we went to bed. We were also really pleased we stayed for the roast dinner the next day before heading back. It was amazing and again, really good value. I wish we lived closer as we would love to be able to make this place our local. Amazing people, food, drinks and accommodation, thanks so much for looking after us!

Used for a one night stopover on a long journey, it was all we needed in terms of bed, dinner and breakfast. But it’s so much more £££ than we’ve ever paid before, like the rest of them, so can only do this very occasionally.

Great pub for food, one of the "if you want a dessert don't have a starter" pubs because you don't have room for both. Great starter is the mushrooms in sauce. Have extra bread, as you will need it to soak up all the sauce at the end. Pie of the day very good and veg all well cooked. Burger with cheese is also very good. OK, it's hard to find, and the roads are narrow, but it is really worth the trip. Update 14th June: I had sunday lunch here today, all 8 of us had a great Sunday lunch, a good selection of veg and plenty of very well cooked meats, pleasant and attentive servers, in all a very good experience. Will be back again in the future.

Came up this Sunday for a roast dinner and wasn't disappointed. Amazing portion, a good selection of veg and meat options. Friendly staff and very welcoming. Left very satisfied and will be returning in the future 😊

A lovely Country pub very tastefully decorated inside and out. Friendly welcoming staff with good choices of drinks. Food is of the highest quality and all reasonably priced. I would recommend anyone to visit if they are in the area. Also a great place to stay if visiting the area.

We had our works Christmas party here, we choose to have a buffet, and it was amazing. So much choice and quantity, the quality of the food was great too, so tasty. I cant recommend highly enough, we will be booking for this December too.

Delicious Sunday roast and excellent service

We didn't stay in the hotel but we had a very nice meal.They staff were very attentive. The Christmas decorations were lovely and the restaurant was fresh and inviting.

Sunday Roast was divine! We met up with some friends from Cadbury and had the pleasure of enjoying Sunday roast here. The place was packed with tables being relaid and occupied within minutes of the previous setting departing which is testament to the quality of their food. The plated roast is delicious, cooked to perfection and plenty of it. Everything was cooked perfectly. Desserts were also heavenly and the only photo I took as we didn't even come up for air whilst devouring the roast! 11/10 and highly recommended. Great food and great value,

Went to the Thorverton Arms on a Saturday night for some food and a drink. Wow the sharing platter me and my sister shared was amazing! Such good value as we couldn’t even finish everything. Great selection of drinks to wash it down. Great atmosphere and made to feel very welcome. We even went back the next day for the Sunday lunch with our Gran. We all loved that, great portions and most of all was absolutely delicious! One of the best roasts I have had out in a long time!

Lovely beer garden great food and a lovely selection of ales.

Steve & Mandy are very friendly and welcoming, both are hard working with a lot on their hands with a grade 2 listed building.

Our room (No. 3) was not brilliant small with a pokey window in the corner but then again we were traveling with our dog and you never get the best rooms with a dog. A little below par for pub accommodation. Cool north facing at the front. Rear rooms are south facing, sunny but perhaps warm in the high summer. Food, both dinner and breakfast, was outstanding and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff who made us very welcome. Breakfast time was less well organised, the tables were set for dinner as if they did not expect us. Nice pub with great sunny beer garden well worth a visit. We had a bad start to our stay as we found out our room was at the front that was scaffolded and sheeted so you could not see out at all. Not the pubs fault but they could have told us in advance.

We have had Roast here at the Thorverton Arms twice and it was the best. Great choice of meats, veg is amazing, potatoes cooked just how we like them just excellent. Need to book though to secure a table as fills up quickly. Staff very friendly and work hard to please everyone.

Nestling in the beautiful green rolling hills of Devon, the Thorveton Arms is delightful Inn and the Hub of the village. We received a great reception upon arrival from Steve and Mandy, the proprietors. The rooms were clean and tidy, a great atmosphere in the bar and the food was excellent. Arrived as guests; left as friends.

New chef, amazing fresh food and really nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Local pub , great sunday lunch and pub is dog friendly

As tourists from New Zealand staying at the Thorverton Arms was one of many highlights touring around Devon. Steve and his family are wonderful hosts along with the patrons of the pub that made us feel very welcome. The service was fabulous as were the breakfasts and dinners we had. Strongly recommend a visit to this quaint village with the beautiful thatched roofed houses and friendly locals. A visit we will never forget. Wayne & Diane the friendly Kiwi's

Really enjoyed the Sunday roast here. Huge portions, tasty food, incredibly friendly staff, especially David. We were there for a 'big' party at very short notice and they absolutely took it in their stride. I would recommend this pub for a good Sunday lunch or a fun family party. Five stars!!!

What a little gem What a great place stayed here for two nights as my daughters wedding party was at the village hall do not to far to stagger back !!! The landlord Steve is a really nice guy Nothing was to much trouble. All the other staff were also very friendly and they all made us feel at home The full English breakfast was amazing and the rooms were comfortable and prefect for our needs Of I am every around there again this is where I will be stopping.
