The Tavern In The Town Rugeley in Cannock Chase

What a wonderful place! Quaint, relaxed and really tasty food. We’ve tried to get reservations here a couple of times with no luck, but finally got a table for 4. The atmosphere is lovely, really clean, well decorated and staff wonderfully helpful. We ordered everything off the tapas menu and can honestly say that every dish didn’t disappoint. The ingredients were fresh, colourful and radiated flavour! It’s not often you go to a restaurant and can smell the freshness and authenticity of the food when you walk through the door, but here you 100% can. The cocktails were delicious and it was so nice catching up with friends in a really nice intimate setting. Every staff member was friendly, informative and just genuinely nice! I think a huge factor with this place being so great is the owner, really relaxed, very normal and not at all pushy or OTT. Well done to you all, we’ll definitely back, hopefully sooner rather than later 🤞🏼

This place really is fantastic. The food is always outstanding and the cocktails are delicious. We are so lucky to have you so near. The owners come and chat and the waitresses are lovely.

We had a brilliant night at the Tavern in the Town. Sarah, our waitress, was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered every dish on the menu and every single one was cooked to perfection. It has a very informal and relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely visit again!

We are so lucky to have this little gem in Rugeley! Visited with friends and we chose the Tapas O…M…G amazing! Fabulous menu choice with lovely platters if you do not want Tapas. Lovely Quirky decor with a lovely atmosphere too. The staff are amazing, so friendly. They also sometimes have themed nights and live music. If you haven’t been, you absolutely must!!!

AMAZING food. We love love coming here for our dinner. Barry and suzie are so welcoming. Cannot do enough for you. And the food… OH WOW! I urge you all to book a table and enjoy some wonderful food.

Me and my girlfriend decided to have a change and decided to have Tapas. The restaurant is really lovely and well decorated with a good atmosphere. The owners and staff were very knowledgeable and the food which was Tapas with a bit of a twist was really good. We had the Nachos, Potatoes, Chicken Tikka, Beef Chimmicuri , Paella and Meatballs and enjoyed all of them, the Meatballs are some of the best I had. It’s a credit to Suzie and Barrie that they come up with this idea of opening a Tapas bar in Rugeley and kept it going despite the COVID and cost of living crisis which has affected everyone and I would advise to book early as the restaurant is very popular. Thank you very much and I would hope to go again and recommend it to anyone

Visited with another couple on 3rd December. This is a lovely little tapas restaurant and our second visit. We ordered one of everything off the menu and it was all delicious. Staff are really attentive. Also had the bonus of a live singer/musician who was great and a few of us were up dancing. Reasonably priced, great food, atmosphere and live music. What more can you ask for! Absolutely recommend this place and we will be returning soon I’m sure!

We wandered in off the street just for a drink and ended up having cocktails, good beers and stayed for dinner which is tapas style dishes. The sharing platter was enough for 4 people and at £17 excellent value for money. The rest of the dishes were imaginative and very tasty. The staff were exceptionally helpful and very pleasant, we'd highly recommend coming for food and drinks!

Popped in for a lovely drink and a bit of tapas. The food was amazing but more importantly the staff treated us amazing especially Meg with her unique cocktails making skills.

we went for a meal and it was absolutely brilliant first date with the love of my life and the staff made it feel like heaven. service was incredible could not go to a better place. recommend for all.

I go to rugeley regularly as my friends live there. We decided to try something different than the local pub. I have never had tapas and wasn’t sure what to expect. The place was decorated lovely with a homely feel. The food I chose, which was the paella and the nachos were excellent and presented well. All tapas are £5.50 each. As for the caramel cheesecake that was divine! The owners are lovely people who make you feel welcome. Will definitely go again and try others on the menu.

We had a mixed tapas - pork taco was beautiful and the loaded humus and the meatball … everything lovely cocktails and service cant recommended enough relaxed atmosphere for a good old catch up

The food is good size portions I had green salad which was so fresh and tasty Hummus with pitta again the hummus was full of flavour this came with cucumber celery and carrot sticks amazing size for a tapas And the poor man’s potatoes OMG these are TO DIE FOR best flavoured tapas potatoes I have ever tasted. Beautifully decorated place such friendly staff will DEFO be back for more THANK TOU

First timers tonight and now we are wondering how we have never been before food 10/10 atmosphere 10/10 staff 10/10 but way too cheap 8 dishes and wine £54 with live music

We visited on Friday night my wife had visited before with friends and raves about the meal and experience therefore I went with high expectations. We had 5 tapas dishes and a Meze dish. Every dish was excellent and the staff were lovely. Can not recommend this place enough. Great meal, great setting and great value. Also recommend bar number 3. Which is a coctail bar oposite the tavern. Lovely coctails.

We were in town and thankfully they had a cancellation as we wanted to try this place. Food was fab! Every dish was delicious but my fave was the bruschetta. Will definitely return again.

Although not fully open, they do a excellent takeaway service, and the Tapas we had was delicious, can’t wait until we can visit the restaurant.
