This place is a gem! We stopped by on an extremely blustery night on Mull. We ordered a burger and fish and chips - portions were very generous and fish was best we had in Scotland. Because of the high winds and rain, we could not enjoy our dinner at their dining area and had to eat in car but enjoyed talking with the owners.

Amazing little find. The best fish and chips on the island. Reasonably priced and very tasty. Really friendly couple running the place too - 100% recommend.

Good size Yorkshire portions of haddock and chips. Battered fish fresh and super tasty. Other options available. Outdoor undercover seating around a large fire pit . Be aware of limited but regular opening times but well worth planning a visit.

Called here on Thursday night. I think we werevthe first customers of the day. It was 5.50pm and should not have opened until 6 00pm but she cracked on a cooked us (3 people ) the biggest and tastiest haddock I had for a long time. The lady who was cooking was married to a Yorkshire man and you could tell as he was collecting the monies. Had some good banter whilst we waited and then we were on our way to our accommodation. We had Haddock chips and mushy peas and it came to £31.00 which I thought was great. Only problem is lack of parking as its a narrow road and muddy on the verges as I got my trainers dirty. Small price to pay for a great meal

Best fish and chips on the island. Burgers are excellent too. Highly recommended their double venison cheese burger😊😋! Quick service, very friendly owners. She is cooking deliciously. We will be returning soon!

Ordered takeaway for the family. Portions are large so we split. Fish and chips, chicken and burger all prepared well and tasty.

Mmmm .. we came here after reading the reviews in Tripadvisor, and sadly it did not live up to its billing. Don’t get me wrong, there was nothing ‘wrong’ with the food, but it wasn’t great by any means .. but it did appear to just be frozen, catering packs - the kind you get from booker or Costco. It was well cooked (great batter!) but pretty bland. The location was quirky and nice, and it was ok value (£45 for a family of 4). I guess my expectations were set too high by the reviews - don’t go expecting award winning food … but if you are looking for value, unusual and convenient it’s well worth a visit.

Friendly staff and excellent food. I had the Scottish burger with all the trimmings it was great. We where staying in a camping pod just next door. Only wish the fire had been on but we will be back next visit to Mull.

The best haddock and chips at a very reasonable price. Good service and a pleasant ambience. Visited with 4 teenage grandchildren and everyone agreed it was the best bought food of the holiday

We turned up 5 minutes after closing time due to being stuck behind a bus on the way there from the ferry but they still accommodated our request for a well needed meal. We can’t thank you guys enough and only wished we could of hung around a bit longer to have a decent chat but our tight schedule meant I had tent erecting duties to attend to at the campsite. The food was amazing and the location and vibe of the place is awesome! Thank you again and we will come back if we return to Mull. (Within the business opening hours) and if you’re ever visiting the antique place near Dundee be sure to let us know! All the best !

Hidden away along a small lane we nearly didn’t bother to negotiate it in the motorhome. So glad we did. Freshly cooked fish and chips that were so tasty. Very friendly team. If you have a motorhome just park near the main road and it is only a couple of minutes walk. Definitely biding on our future trips to Mull.

They advertise themselves as a hidden gem and they truly are. Set in woodland with a real fire, this place was a most unusual find but we were very glad we did. Our plan was to pick up fish and chips and go back to our campsite, but we opted for the Angus and haggis burger and ate in or out as was the nature of the place.

A very late review as we visited last July! I'm rubbish about this reviewing thing - must do better As we were stopping locally, I popped in earlier in the day and ordered and booked a collection slot for later. Slight wait when I got there as I think the people before me were feeding the 5000 and had a massive order! Had a great chat with Tim & Diane (the owners) who were lovely - travelled 230 miles and found out that Tim's brother lived about 10 miles from where we live! Right back to the review, the service and food were superb. The venison burger was fantastic. What more could you ask for? So we could get the holiday cottage sorted for leaving, we went back on our last night on Mull and ordered different things, got fish and chips this time - these were just as good as the things we had on our first visit We are going back up to Mull this summer again and we will definitely pay another visit.

You place your order, they cook it to order, you eat outside on benches & tables round a fire pit. It was rainy and chilly but the food was hot and fresh, the man was friendly and chatty and we would definitely return

The Taste of Mull is a fish & chip shop with covered, outside tables to eat at. Fish & Chips were marvellously delicious and they do mushy peas (a must!!). And the proprietors were very friendly and welcoming - they come from Yorkshire, so of course they would be!!

Tim and Diane’s fish and chips are quite simply excellent. Delicious fish in superb crisp batter, great, proper chips. If you haven’t tried them, you really should, now!

Delicious fish in a beautifully crisp and clean batter. Chips are real, perfect size, crisp on the outside, and soft and fluffy in the middle. Tucked away down a little lane in Salen, well worth the visit.
