The Swatters Carr - JD Wetherspoon in Middlesbrough

Went on Bank Holiday Sunday (this review is about that day), service was fast and the staff were fantastic. Got a bit busy but still served within minutes, saw they ID'd a few people which was good. Toilets are a bit of an issue, need to be seen to a bit more often. Have been here many times before and shall go again, 2 pints (Coors and Cider) for £5.92, brilliant price, great staff.

Typical weatherspoons... alright cheap food. Drink didn't come even though I was sitting at the table. Good selection of drinks

A swear wetherspoons is what Prometheus should've given us over fire. Never not in the mood for that large mixed grill.

I work allover the country and use every spoons bur I have to compliment the staff and work they put in at the swatters Megan Morgan duty manager John they never stop and are very polite and friendly obvs as an outsider lol you have a good team here mr Martin keep them

I didn't visit I went to my dentist 2 doors down and paid for a check up. 😂

We came to visit and it was a fantastic night. Only thing is make sure that you come early for a table gets very busy quickly. And the toilets were not in Narnia😂😂

Middlesbrough's central watering hole. It welcomes everyone. I was bowled over by the cheap cost of a grey goose and vodka. I got 2 doubles! I can't remember the exact price (probably due to the 2 x double grey gooses/geese?) but it was very easy on the pocket (phone). A classic weatherspoons that ticks all the boxes (besides the long walk to the toilet, this walk was shockingly short!)

Really nice food, absolute bargain

Went to this wetherspoons 2 nights in a row, I would have given it a 4 star if I only went for the one night, however the second night was not so good. The lady behind the bar was pleasant But when I asked if I could have rice instead of chips with my steak she asked some arrogant bloke with a black shirt and pony tail, who just grunted a “NO” without even looking up at me, I then asked if I could have an egg instead with exactly the same arrogant grunting “NO” without making eye contact. My request was something they do in our local spoons, so I didn’t think my request was extreme or awkward. if I wasn’t with the family I would have told the guy where to go, he must be losing the pub customers…but he’s arrogant so he doesn’t care. When I finally got my steak ( ordered medium rare ) it came to me well done. Not good

Not enough space around the disabled toilet chairs too close so larger wheelchairs or walkers could get in without difficulty.

Great pub in the Boro .not been in there for a long time . Would recommend you give it a visit.

Everything you'd expect from a spoons

Went for a few drinks with friends. It was a good atmosphere, and the pitchers of cocktails were great priced and went down a treat. The security guards and the staff were friendly. A good night out.

Lovely place but a lot to walk out of the city centre a nice pub though

Wasn't a great experience and you'd think on a quiet day it would be good. Food was cold and the drinks arrived after the was eaten.

To be fair they did a really good breakfast, ordered on the app from my table and it only took 10 mins to come. All arrived hot and pleasant service

This was a fantastic pub for a visit, providing great aesthetic pleasure with its stripped back design! This includes the brick walls and pillars, counter is smartly presented in itself. Staff were friendly and I enjoyed a pint of Czech beer, sitting at the comfortable seating!

Had several pints of beer here with my friends a couple of. The bar ladies and guys were super nice and friendly. Would go back once my friends are around. Y'all should check it out.

Far too busy on a Saturday night, no seating and not possible to hear yourself think or talk, real nightmare will definately not return

Typical Wetherspoons pub. Good selection of real ales. Efficient service. Standard 'Spoons fayre. Usual 'Spoons crowd.

Very nice pub and with TV playing fa cup on BBC?? Huge toilet not very clean. I don't know why they say that has more floors were they closed? Relaxed atmosphere only one lady bouncer on Saturday evening. They didn't ask me what drink I wanted so they have charged a premium one but no big deal.

Great value for a meal and drinks. Customer service was first rate at the bar and very easy to order meals. Staff were polite and very welcoming.

It's MarKO Talking from BBC Radio Tees Studio went here about to weeks ago a female friend of mine got in touch with me had not seen her in 3 years meet here at the swatters Carr for just a couple of coffees nice cosy place warm seating nice and cosy staff friendly and nice when the atmosphere is like this it make u want to visit the place again and again sorry i cannot rate the food because I did not order any but I would recommend this place to the public take your girlfriend or your mates or a get together meeting

Loads of room, great beer selection, and the staff are always friendly and efficient. The lunch menu is top-notch. Good selection from the deli, including a pint of brewdog for £8. You literally can't fall off.

One of the best pubs in middlesbrough

Smelled like boiled cabbage, had one drink and left!

1st time in Middlesbrough town centre, and wanted dome food, before going to a local boxing show. This place is obviously popular, as was packed to the rafters! We got burger & chios, but bit disappointed when it arrived as nor many chips, or salad, so a small grumble. The staff however were excellent, and a bottle of brown ale, and a pint of Guinness didn't even come to £6! So great prices. I'd still recommend a visit however.

It's a little bit dated now.....used to be really good, now average, studenty and quite eastern European. Better than a squatters car....just

The food is reheated, not very nice to be honest with you, chips I had weren't very nice, it was soggy. The beer is cheap though and they have a good array of ipas etc. Nice setting and busy during early afternoon.. Which is a good sign.

It's a wetherspoons pub so you know what to expect. Just so happens it's always excellence.

It's wetherspoons. It is what it is, however depending on day and who serves you depends on what they charge you. Same orders but never the same price.

Best selection of beers and ales anywhere,. Serves really good breakfast

We were refused entry because my boyfriend was “wearing tracksuit bottoms.” Your pub is not posh enough for a dress code like that. I never had this issue going alone, so that’s just blatant discrimination of my boyfriend because of the way he looks.

The food is as good as a spoons gets to be honest, can be pretty busy at certain times/ certain days so be aware of that before you go.

Sank loads of real ales here during my stay in Middlesbrough with Siyu. However, I did get sent home for my ID by the manageress in the rain, at the ripe old age of 29. Haven't been ID'd in years. A compliment I suppose

Staff were so lovely!! Me and my friend were harassed by 2 homophobic men (which is why i've docked the stars for atmosphere) and the staff helped us and got them banned and made sure we were safe so we can't thank them enough - Sean, Luke, Ryan, Becky, Meghan and Amy were all amazing!!

Had a vegetarian breakfast this morning and I regret it! The food was funny and mushroom wasn’t cooked properly. Its been 8 hours after I had the breakfast and I still feel sick! Btw the staff working there are all lovely and respectful but the food was 🤢!

We tried this place today as not many places are open today ,I got a small breakfast which was nice I wish now I had got the larger breakfast my wife had eggs Benedict and enjoyed hers too and swatters Carr is very near where I live ,I will be coming more often that's for sure

Pub was packed, but still good service by staff.

Miss the resolution :( but the swatters is a good alternative I suppose. Service is lovely as always but it tables often left with plates and glasses on them for a while. But spoons food stays 10/10

Good 'Spoons pub, good selection of beers, all reasonably priced,food selection same as others in the franchise, does get very busy and noisy on a Weekend. Seating area outside and good wheelchair access (toilets immaculate).

Simple, tasty good that is very reasonable priced.

Great Central place to eat, food was extremely good value as always at a Wetherspoons, we had breakfast it was very good.

Cheap and cheerful usually with a good atmosphere. In a good location.

It's a weatherspoons. There are some issues with ordering as is typical of a Weatherspoons ie. Ordering a dish and getting less than it says on the menu, (says 8 quorn nuggets, and the dish arrives with 6 etc.)

Love the staff and never to busy when I go in

My steak tasted flimsy. I'm pretty sure there's more texture on my couch at home. In fact I put my ear to it and still could hear the moo. The actual pub it's self looks alright but I witnessed one of the benifits Britain cast members run in and urinate on the floor. They were quick to clean this up and make use of the gentleman's golden liquid by adding it to my pint. delicious.
