The Swatters Carr - JD Wetherspoon in Middlesbrough

Staff are friendly and it's a good location for hitting the town.

I went after 11 on a Friday, it was surprisingly quiet, as it is a spoons the prices are incredible

great place but compared to other wetherspoons the staff pull the pints with just a little more head so for instance at the wetherspoons at the gate in newcastle you get like 5% more drink in your pint not not a big deal when the drinks are cheep but it does lose the place the 5th star

Update to a visit. Wetherspoons are doing a "beer festival" most beers at £1.99. Arrived at 1130, and the place was pretty full with people having breakfasts or snacks. The people were coming in, in increasing amounts all afternoon, which led to the volume going up several notches. A lot of the beers that were offline on the last visit were now online with a great and varied selection. Wetherspoons are doing exactly what is needed to get punters in and succeeding spectacularly. More power to their elbow, I only wish there was not a lot of the others following suit

Good night out, plenty of room and food available

Last 3 times we had food here not edible. Tonight had a chicken shwarmer wrap freezing cold wrap.very minimal filling. What was in it was running out the wrap like water. Won't eat here again.

Love the staff and I'll advise you to not go in when Middlesbrough fc are playing at home as the pub welcomes the kind of people who wear a stone island badges on their t-shirt.

I have been going to this pub for a while, and it’s great because it attracts a diverse crowds 👍. and the staff are spot-on. I've had the food here before, and the breakfasts have always been decent. However, today I arrived a bit late and decided to order JD Wethersooon’s “Pub Classics” fish and chips instead. After all, a picture tells a thousand words….!

Typical Wetherspoons worth the short walk from central Middlesbrough. I enjoyed a lovely pint, or 2, of Citra for only £1.99, how do they do it?

The swatters carr. In Middlesbrough is the only weatherspoons left after the resolution closed down. About a year and a half ago it's now the cheapest pub for a cheap ale at £199 a pint.

Repeatedly asked for a cold glass for a fresh pint, Repeatedly got a hot glass and asked to leave??? Training 😂

We popped in for some food and a drink. Day trip to Middlesbrough on the train whilst on holiday in North Yorks Moors. Another good Spoons nothing to fault. Staff cleaning empty tables is always a good thing to see. The toilets were very clean too. Food, curry all round, was good and came quickly. All good then.

Visited Saturday 15/06/2024. Was quickly served, and excellent value.

A bit rougher than I would have expected for a Wetherspoons however it is always busy, friendly and a lot of happy customers. Smokers are well accommodated outside in the beer garden area, the food is honest pub grub, fair prices for food and drinks, sticky carpets, toilets are so so.

Excellent for service no more than 2 mins at bar to be served and it was busy

I was in there for less than an hour and a group of girls in the toilets push me about a little, distract me and they took my bag. They stole my cash, card and phone. Apparently there are pictures of these people circulating the pubs locally warning that they are thieves. I know it doesn't attract the best clientele but this experience was something else.

Went on Bank Holiday Sunday (this review is about that day), service was fast and the staff were fantastic. Got a bit busy but still served within minutes, saw they ID'd a few people which was good. Toilets are a bit of an issue, need to be seen to a bit more often. Have been here many times before and shall go again, 2 pints (Coors and Cider) for £5.92, brilliant price, great staff.

I work allover the country and use every spoons bur I have to compliment the staff and work they put in at the swatters Megan Morgan duty manager John they never stop and are very polite and friendly obvs as an outsider lol you have a good team here mr Martin keep them

Middlesbrough's central watering hole. It welcomes everyone. I was bowled over by the cheap cost of a grey goose and vodka. I got 2 doubles! I can't remember the exact price (probably due to the 2 x double grey gooses/geese?) but it was very easy on the pocket (phone). A classic weatherspoons that ticks all the boxes (besides the long walk to the toilet, this walk was shockingly short!)

Really nice food, absolute bargain

Went to this wetherspoons 2 nights in a row, I would have given it a 4 star if I only went for the one night, however the second night was not so good. The lady behind the bar was pleasant But when I asked if I could have rice instead of chips with my steak she asked some arrogant bloke with a black shirt and pony tail, who just grunted a “NO” without even looking up at me, I then asked if I could have an egg instead with exactly the same arrogant grunting “NO” without making eye contact. My request was something they do in our local spoons, so I didn’t think my request was extreme or awkward. if I wasn’t with the family I would have told the guy where to go, he must be losing the pub customers…but he’s arrogant so he doesn’t care. When I finally got my steak ( ordered medium rare ) it came to me well done. Not good

Not enough space around the disabled toilet chairs too close so larger wheelchairs or walkers could get in without difficulty.

Great pub in the Boro .not been in there for a long time . Would recommend you give it a visit.

Went for a few drinks with friends. It was a good atmosphere, and the pitchers of cocktails were great priced and went down a treat. The security guards and the staff were friendly. A good night out.

Lovely place but a lot to walk out of the city centre a nice pub though

Wasn't a great experience and you'd think on a quiet day it would be good. Food was cold and the drinks arrived after the was eaten.

To be fair they did a really good breakfast, ordered on the app from my table and it only took 10 mins to come. All arrived hot and pleasant service

This was a fantastic pub for a visit, providing great aesthetic pleasure with its stripped back design! This includes the brick walls and pillars, counter is smartly presented in itself. Staff were friendly and I enjoyed a pint of Czech beer, sitting at the comfortable seating!

Had several pints of beer here with my friends a couple of. The bar ladies and guys were super nice and friendly. Would go back once my friends are around. Y'all should check it out.

Very nice pub and with TV playing fa cup on BBC?? Huge toilet not very clean. I don't know why they say that has more floors were they closed? Relaxed atmosphere only one lady bouncer on Saturday evening. They didn't ask me what drink I wanted so they have charged a premium one but no big deal.

It's MarKO Talking from BBC Radio Tees Studio went here about to weeks ago a female friend of mine got in touch with me had not seen her in 3 years meet here at the swatters Carr for just a couple of coffees nice cosy place warm seating nice and cosy staff friendly and nice when the atmosphere is like this it make u want to visit the place again and again sorry i cannot rate the food because I did not order any but I would recommend this place to the public take your girlfriend or your mates or a get together meeting

Loads of room, great beer selection, and the staff are always friendly and efficient. The lunch menu is top-notch. Good selection from the deli, including a pint of brewdog for £8. You literally can't fall off.
