The Sun Inn in Sunderland

We went here for a family meal, my wife and I had a fillet steak each, unfortunately the quality of the fillet was rather poor, they were both chewy and rather fatty, we have had fillet steaks multiple times, unfortunately this was the worst.

Have not been for a while, food was great and the staff look after you. Friendly will be going back

I showed up 10 minutes before food services stopped,snd the lovely kitchen team made me a meal. After a very physically and mentally taxing day at work it was what I needed. All staff were lovely, very friendly and pub atmosphere with a dining room next door.

In amalfi for a meal and it was delicious and the staff very friendly and also very reasonable prices if you haven't been yet for a meal you will not be disappointed highly recommended

We visited Amalfi with friends and will be returning. The reception was warm and friendly which relaxed me straight away. Service was prompt but not pushy. The wait for food was acceptable. The waitress was very personable and ensured we had all of our orders before leaving us to eat. The quality of the food was excellent. My lasagne was full of content and flavours. The mixed salad was fresh and tasty. The waitress was attentive but not hovering. The whole experience was like going to a frinds house for a meal, friendly and relaxed. The restaurant was busy but did not detract from the experience. Well wort a visit.

Me and my boss decided to try this place after been disappointed with a rival neighbouring restaurant. We were pleased with everything food quality excellent and consistent service is both great and they make you feel like you belong or are family (just a feeling I have while there). We have now visited many times with family or friends and work colleagues or clients and everyone we have brought have also enjoyed there food and general experience for there first to the establishment, one friend lives literally opposite the place and had never visited even tho the current owner had had the place for I'm sure over a decade. I highly recommend to dine here never tried coming in as a bar drinks only customer but it always seems to have people in there. Food excellent ... service brilliant even when busy and staff make the atmosphere both comfortable and if you are a bit of a character and joke a little the staff have a just as good comeback. Hope to see review reader in there.

The food was very nice. a very talented chef, nice and cozy restaurant. The staff was great but the young lad needs the correct training and would be a good asset to the business.

The food was impeccable and you couldn’t ask for better service. It is such a lovely restaurant, we would highly recommend The Sun Inn - Amalfi’s.

First time we have visited Amalfi and we will definitely be going back. Food was absolutely delicious. A big shout out to Maddie and April who served us and were very attentive and polite, a real credit to this restaurant.

We popped in on Wednesday night with the Dog for a drink and the quiz. What a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The quiz was great fun. The service was excellent and the atmosphere, people were fabulous. Well done and don't change

Went to Amalfi's tonight for my birthday , staff fantastic couldn't do enough for us and food was amazing. X

Had a girlie catch-up and everything was spot on, big thumbs up for food.. we all had different mains and all were excellent. Lasagne was delicious and one of the best I've had.

Should use this place more often, great atmosphere lovely food at fair prices, and i can get Guinness.

First time here at the weekend and it won’t be my last. Restaurant nice and warm, food delicious and great service. Looking forward to going back.

Tucked away in houghton what a little find food was nice staff serving very helpful and a nice little place to visit for meal and drink give it a go

This was the best steak I have had in years. We got lovely appetisers which were free and beautifully tasting. Service was so friendly, kind but so knowledgeable about the menu. I haven’t been to such a wonderful restaurant in ages. Thank you for an amazing night, it was a fabulous evening x

Met friends at 6 so able to take advantage of Happy hour. Selected pizzas and pasta £7.90 with other dishes like chicken milanese 9.90. Complimentary olives and bread brought straight away so I got lots of olives as not a favourite of friends but I love them. Starters and mains were BIG so pleased I just had main of pasta amatriciana. Every one cleared their plates and not a bad word was said so must be good! Coffee with hot milk and little chocolate for sweet rounded off lovely meal. Staff could not have been nicer. Small car park at rear but off road parking for a few cars at front

Starting with the warm welcome from the 2 waiting staff until leaving we had an excellent dining experience. The food was first class especially the paprika sauce on the Pollo Gorby it was delicious. I only wished I'd had room for a pudding. ❤️

Wonderful evening, Italian food was delicious, staff were so amicable. We will be back in force.. please keep this fabulous restaurant a secret because I don’t want to queue. Thank you again for looking after us on what has been our first outing.

First time here and it definitely won’t be the last. Service was super quick and portions are huge especially as they are off the happy hour menu. The staff were lovely and very attentive. We always had full drinks and no request was ever an issue. Thank you for an amazing meal.

Always love visiting this restaurant, made to feel very welcome by owners and staff. Food always lovely, nice presentation and always arrives hot. We've tried lots of dishes on the menu all very tasty and always a nice choice on the specials board. A good choice of beautifully presented desserts too.

Almafi restaurant. Excellent food, beautiful dining room. Superb friendly staff. Made you feel so welcome. Great sense of humour. Love it. The portion sizes were big. We had the early special menue. Great value for money. Will def be back.

Superb Italian food - very friendly service and child friendly too. Plenty of choice for all tastes of Italian across the starters, pastas, pizzas, puddings, liqueurs and hot drinks. Can really tell that the ingredients used are of great quality too. Would really recommend Amalfi if you enjoy Italian food.

Great food in my own home village

Enjoyed another delicious meal here. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The staff are attentive and so friendly. On this visit we had a friend from Kent with us who was very impressed with the portion sizes, especially the garlic bread with cheese. The food was served hot and very appetising. Definitely recommend this eatery.

Celebrated my 60th birthday there last night with 18 friends and family, this homely Italian restaurant has an amazing atmosphere run by April front of house who is definitely a force of nature and her husband Steve in kitchen. They somehow managed to serve 18 assorted piping hot meals to everyone with military precision in double quick time. We don't go out for meals often but this little restaurant has become our fav. place to go and never been disappointed by food or service there, not many places where you walk in for a meal and leave as one of the family but this is one. April, Steve and staff do a fantastic job, I cannot thank them enough for brilliant night, as always I enjoyed the meal but this time 18 others said the same.

We just called in for 1 drink. The bar is a bit rough and ready.... Looks a bit of a 'dive'. Not the best bar I have been to. I have been told that the restaurant is very good.
