The Soul House Restaurant & Cocktail Bar in Walsall

Went for a birthday meal at this restaurant yesterday was a big party of us and the service we received from are waiter deshane was excellent the food was amazing and very good value for money. Have to say haven't been to a great restaurant like this in a long time was really happy with ever part of my experience. The atmosphere was so relaxing and the music selection was spot on. I will be recommending the soul house to my family and friends. This place is a must to eat at.

The order was not correct, but they happily changed it no issues. Wish you had desserts!

Lobster and cocktails 10/10. Worth every penny.

This review is constructive critique; Alliyah did the best she could, considering the time differences from Canada to the UK in booking a party of 25 for my Mom's 80th. Seating for such a large group was awkward. Some food came out swift but so unorganized (sides should be on the same plate) or delivered with the chosen dish. As a result, servers were holding food shouting who ordered X, Y, or Z (market vibes). One guest at our table was served his food when everyone had finished (will he come back or recommend)? Generally, the food was not hot, 4 of the 5 lamb chops' orders were not enjoyed, one being chared. Signature dishes were okay, but the block it's served on is not practical. Our lobster people enjoyed their lobster. The water containers left a lot to be desired, chipped, and unclean looking. (Cant go wrong with staintess steel). Thanks to the chief who had two large parties to cook for, the girlie behind the bar who listened without being offended the wait staff who had it all to deal with and the young security guard who I had a great conversation with. Would I come again.... absolutely 💯

this place is an absolute joke there customer service is terrible they don't answer the phone and it's impossible to book, when we actually managed to get a booking (after numerous calls and messages) my friend also threw up around the corner after eating here so definitely wouldn't recommend

We chose the Soulhouse for our 2023 Christmas works meal. There was a group of 10 of us. We booked in advance and had a brilliant service organising the menus and orders in advance. Service last night was outstanding by a fantastic and lovely guy called Rion. What an absolute top guy! The food was stunning and they also catered really well for one of our guests who has a dairy allergy. The atmosphere was wonderful and we had a really special night.

We decided to explore this restaurant as we've been referred by some friends. Booking beforehand is highly recommended and absolutely worth it. Smart-casual dress code - check with restaurant for accurate attire. Check with the restaurant about child-free evenings, as some evenings children under 18 aren't accommodated, which creates a pleasant atmosphere for couples wanting to have some bonding time, such as date nights. Larger groups can also be accommodated. Restaurant is clearly visible from roadside by outside signage stating "The Soul House." Free parking on premises with ability to accommodate 20-30 cars. Under-roof smokers friendly area in parking lot outside main entrance. Wheelchair accessible entrance and dining experience. Upon arrival, we were met by a doorman who was courteous and checked our booking. Inside, we were met by a sharply dressed hospitality worker, Reon, who was very friendly and welcoming and asked us about our seating preference. We asked for a table for two, secluded and intimate, which he was able to provide. Reon's service throughout the evening was above standard, allowing for a comfortable and relaxed experience. We were offered a flask of water for the table. The table was dressed stylishly minimalistic. The ambience and decor of the dining hall can be described as clean, stylish, modern, and chique, and somewhat intimate with dimmed lights and table candles. Seating for larger groups at one end of the dining hall is lit more than seating at the other end for smaller groups or couples, which lends to the romantic atmosphere for intimate couples. The decor and wall art is motivational, featuring pictures of famous artists with quotes. The bar area is eye-catching with well lit bottles of top-shelf products. The aroma of the venue is one of soul food, creating a good atmosphere and tantilising expectancy. Music is abundant, featuring mostly Soul music tying in well with the name, decor, and food. It's loud, however, not overbearing, and conversation can flow easily. The cocktailmenu is varied with the choice of either alcohol or alcohol-free. We tried the Mango Swim, which was above expectation. It can be described as a wonderfully Caribbean taste with mango flavour as the high note with a subtle background flavour of coconut. Thick yet smooth in texture: Delicious, and we opted for this as our drink of choice throughout the evening. There is a wine list also. However, we did not explore this option. The menu is varied in choice, yet minimalistic: not be overbearing. The menu can be described as a mix of Caribbean and Southern cuisine: exceptionally tasty! Our starter comprised of creamy garlic mushrooms and scallops. Well worth the expense! We've had scallops at high-end Michelin restaurants before, but the Soul House scallops top the best of them! Only down side was that a piece of crusty bread would have done well to soak up the creamy-buttery sauce of the scallops. For the main, we opted for a platter to share (for 2), which gave us an experience of most of the menu items in one dish: The Soul House mixed grill: Lamb, Jerk-Chicken, Chicken Wings, Hake and King Prawns. Every single item was prepared to perfection. The dish looked visually appealing: art on a plate (the photos do not do it justice). Often, one finds that food is good, but with each mouthful, it doesn't get any better. This is not the case with this meal or restaurant. The food is great (not just good), and every mouthful gets better. Tasty and tantilisingly seasoned, whilst being visually appealing. Some hints of spice-heat, but nothing scorching. The fish had some bones, which was expected, however, can catch you off guard. The lamb was exceptionally tender and juicy. The king prawns were well prepared and cleaned. All of the chicken options were decadent and mouthwateringly flavourful, with crunch skin and texture. A very great experience. Thank you to Reon for supperb hosting. Thank you to the chef also, who also made eye contact and was friendly. A great place and new favourite: highly recommended!!!

A few minors but nothing to deter from returning. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Tasty food. Fantastic value for money 💰

I want to like everything about Soul House as it has the potential to be a great spot. The vibe here is great, the live entertainment and the ambiance is awesome! They need some work in providing a great service. Some of the people in my group unfortunately had uncooked chicken and some were very pleased with their tasty meals. The cocktails are also very nice.

Great food, lovely ambience, fab background music, friendly staff

The venue is nice but soon as you walk in your get greeted by a bouncer in a balaclava. Service was fine but the main took an hour to come after the starter. They missed bacon off the burger which didn't bother me but after we split the bill in the group of 8. As we are walking out they stopped to say we owed more money and they calculated the bill wrong, this error is the reason for the low score. They don't have good customer service and will ruin there own reputation and not care if you don't come back over £12 extra after the bill was approx £400. Its a shame as it has potential but still runs like a backstreet carribean restaurant. They should have been embarrassed about the error but treated us like it is your own mistake. I can support a business like that and won't be coming. Good luck to them, hope they get there act together. The singer was great though but the music is too loud you have to shout to talk to the person 2 seats away.

Decor on point. Staff well presented and good mannered. Food was very nice . We got to try abit of almost everything because we had 10 adults and 2 children. Washroom facilities excellently clean and very pretty. Would highly reccomend and we will definatley be back with the rest of the bunch

Went there 2022 and the food was amazing as was the place..went back tonight and what a change..the food was dry and tiny portions..the ladies toilets were unclear and had a strange smell..so many flies around my son and partner were put right off their food and left most of it..they did half his bill to be fair but just spoilt the night..the music is good but much to loud for a restaurant..unfortunately will not be returning

It was okay the food the food came out a bit slow The party I was with had their meal and I was still waiting about 10 minutes for my meal.

There was 14 of us that attend the decor is 100, the music was 100 (RnB) but it was a little loud at times we found ourselves having the shout. The food portions were just right and no complaints from either of the 14 dishes The Soul Food Platter is well worth the money (picture attached) Overall, a great dining experience. I would definitely return

Restaurant is lovely the interior & staff are superb. We had lamb chops cooked amazingly also had the soul house special prawns tasted amazing. Jerk chicken was more bone then meat but honestly tasted amazing. May I add they is a certain dress code which we wasn’t aware of but we will definitely visit this place to try the soul house platter 👏🏾

It was difficult to make a booking because they are only open Thursday to Sunday. I called on Monday to book for Thursday but couldn't get a response, I left a message but no-one got back to me. There's no on-line booking system. On the Thursday I phoned at 4 pm (they open at 5 pm). Still couldn't get anyone (I thought they'd be in for prep before 5pm). Managed to book for 8 pm as they weren't busy. The food and service was excellent. I thought it was quite pricey though. I felt a little rushed, they close at 10:30 pm on Thursday, they would only leave a 5 minute gap between starters and mains because the "kitchen was closing". As soon as a plate was emptied it was taken away. One staff member hung around with his coat on at 10:00. When we left and paused outside to say our goodbyes on the car park, the lighting was promptly switched off leaving us in pitch black darkness, forcing us to leave at which time it was just 10:20 pm. Overall, the food's very good, the place looks great from the outside, good parking space. Lovely decor inside, but it's dimly lit as there are no windows, but it looks classy still. The bar looks extensive. Good selection of 90s RnB music. Polite and attentive staff. I'm not sure whether or not I'll go again, maybe with improved lighting, in a group and earlier in the evening so I wouldn't feel rushed.

I cannot shout about this place enough! Spectacular food and the portions are very generous! Flavours for dayss!! I live far but I’m coming back!! Mac and cheese chefs kiss! Prawns were soo delicious. I didn’t try the cocktails but like i said i’ll be back! xx

Absolutely wonderful experience would recommend seafood lobster

Went there today.... food was 8 out of 10.... buttermilk burger was dry without sauce and the lamb on the platter could be less chewy...... also General heating of food could be much hotter.... We wanted to take food away as we were full... we were handed 4 sheets of Kitchen foil and had to do it ourselves... take away boxes/ containers would make a big difference.... The vibe of the restaurant is great... lovely RnB playlist in the background.... with better staff etiquette this place would get a 10 from me....

Not a good experience poor customer service from manager /owner and undercooked food ..we had a poor experience as a group of friends and when we raise the concern the owner came to table ended putting his hands on the lobster and breaking its legs to prove it was cooked when it was like a car tyre and inedible …. The fact that we had caters amongst us didn’t help and we were shocked and appalled at the response and no respect from owner. Jerk chicken was not cooked and although we had the lobster removed from the bill they didn’t remove the uncooked chicken or discount it. Only a few plates were cooked well enough which was unfortunate and they brought main out without sides to start with and we had to complain much. It’s a shame as it seems to be a nice venue the door men polite as we entered and the young waiters were polite however the managers and owner no customer service not polite. Left a sour taste in mouth and don’t think we shall return. We were told we can’t have candles on and if wax fell on table we would be charged £4 per drop ?? Who says and does this?owner had a full blown adult tantrum as you can see in photos and videos

Unfortunately I attended tonight with some friends for an event and was looking forward to this place. It was not a good experience my food was ordered jerk salmon and although it tasted ok and I had two sides mac cheese and Cajun fries , fries were room temperature ok amount mac cheese warm enough not a good size portion but tasted nice…. While trying to enjoy the night we realised that the jerk chicken was not cooked proper on many plates and the lobster platter was uncooked they took it away grilled it few minutes came back and it was like rubber when we raised concern it became apparent that the owner whom is (not Caribbean ) very angry was smiling and started to speak over our foods causing saliva to spray possibly over the plates of friends and grabbed the lobster with his hands and a crazy smile on his face and started to tear apart the lobster legs saying look look look it’s cooked …. As I took my phone to take a photo in shock he walked off quickly with the whole platter vexed. He refused to send us napkin when we asked and then took extremely long to sort out the bill. The people became somewhat difficult… please be aware and know it may not be what you wanted to experience

My food was good but i was in a group of 12 and 1 order had uncooked chicken which was then replaced with burnt chicken, then sent sent back to the kitchen and had to pay full price for it. Another order recieved rubbery lobster followed by the owner who came to the table and dismantled the lobster aggressively with a smile on his face.we were there for friends anniversary and was refused plates, a knife or anything for us to serve the anniversary cake. Go at your own risk.

Visited here tonight for the first time. The venue itself is very chilled and layed back. Nice surroundings and has good music to sit and eat too. The food was decent and the chap who we had serving us was helpful and polite but the food took a long time to come out as they lost our order and it wasn't put through so had to be redone,so a longer wait! Like I say,the food was tasty but slightly over priced for what it is! A bit more organisation and thought needs to be put in but overall was a decent night and visit again

Tried to book a table on 2 different occasions. Called the number multiple times 4-5 days in a row, after contacting the restaurant via instagram where i supplied with times to call. But the phone number either went to straight to voicemail or rung out. I contacted the restaurant again via Instagram inbox, still waiting a response....

Birthday gathering at Soul House * * * * Decor and ambience of restaurant appealing, very sophisticated and elegant. Once seated waiter eventually appear to take order....food order had to be given twice as he got confused...drinks order was no better, drink special offers not clearly indicated. Hour wait for food to arrive, main dishes ample, well presented, though side dishes miniscule in size. Food was tasty and delicious. * * * * Dress code was reiterated as smart attire...only to witness 3 males arrive in tracksuits, trainers and hats...all of which breached dress code...double standards to say the least. * * * * On booking was told my party of 8... couldn't have booth as it is for 12 people... yet 4 were sat there on actual night and other booth was empty. * * * * Requested if I could change party of 8 to party of 9... but told they were full... venue was empty when we arrived and only half full When we left.... and we spent over £337 * * * * * Overall food is beyond 5 stars and venue is elegant. Other issues management need looking into and resolving. Service a bit of let down... 2 star.

Really disappointed in the customer service. Enquired about hiring the venue privately for a baby shower and was met with a hostile manager. She told us she would get back to us but never did. When we visited to enquire again, she just said they were not willing to do it with no compromise or alternative dates/number of guests etc. Very unfortunate as we were eager to support a local business and help change the bad reputation they are slowly accumulating.

Absolute disgraceful customer service. Wasn't told about the dress code when booking a table and then got turned away when I turned up because of this dress code issue. Then to rub salt in the wounds my deposit wasn't returned to me although it was through a lack of communication on the staffs behalf .

I would put a 0 if I could. Absolutely disgusting serive. Turned up to a 3 adult booking to be sent away due to dress code. This would be acceptable in any circumstance if it was stated. I was not told when booking so there for I was unaware of this policy . The women I spoke Basically called me a lair and said she told me. I asked for my deposit to be refunded but it was declined! I have never known service like it absolutely shocking .

Well after having a booking which was booked 4 weeks in advance. We turned up to the restaurant to be told our booking was not valid as we booked with open table and apparently they no longer take bookings through open table although its still on there website to do so. Management were very rude about this and didn't try to rectify at all. So you can imagine how disappointed this was being someone's birthday and having to find somewhere else for a booking of 10. Won't be revisiting

After being seated at our table, we didn't get asked if we wanted a drink or our orders taken for 35 minutes and only after we waved down a waiter to ask if we had to order at the bar. Ordered a round of drinks and 2 didn't arrive so we waved the waiter down again to ask for our drinks. Food came out after a long wait - chips were missing lol. We had to ask 3 separate times for the chips before receiving them - curry was no longer hot. Ordered another round of drinks - 1 missing which we asked for twice and still didn't get it. No organisation or professionalism in the restaurant - weird considering they want you to take off your hoodie and would rather have you sit in your puffer coat. You'd expect better service from a place trying to set such high standards in their customers. Food was nice but not worth the terrible service.

The food was delicious and an amazing service from the young waiter D’Jèan he gave the best recommendations and was very patient and kept a smile on his face the whole time dealing with our large loud fussy crowd.

Sad to see the poor reviews, but my experience was lovely from start to finish, beautiful setting, food and drinks tasted good, I would go back and I do recommend you give it a try yourself.

Service is terrible I seen that peoples booking was not confirmed and people have been declined at the door or a few hours before from the reviews so I called to confirm my booking and it was not noted on the system.. good job I called before the day else we would of got sent back

Environment is beautiful but staff are not ready in terms of proffesionalism do not have the correct change to give back to customer and on arrival you are not allowed to wear hats or a coat with a hood this would be ok if they had a website that states that ontop of that the food is underseasoned I had oxtail and rice and neither the rice n peas nor the oxtail had any flavour this made me think that the chef is a amateur and when it comes to carribean food I have high expectations im not impressed.....

Friendly staff, good food, a must go if you haven't been. Sea food was lovely. I am looking forward to the next visit soon.

Lovely venue, really presented well. Four of us went and had food and cocktails and we could not fault the food, all of us enjoyed our meals and the cocktails were a good size and really tasty!!! The music was loud, we did ask for it to be turned down and this didn't happen. The manager did acknowledge this though and agreed it was too loud, so hopefully going forward it will be a quieter. Due to this there was a slight mishap with the bill as she couldn't hear the amount we had to pay as the music was loud. This was swiftly rectified though. There aren't any desserts which I was disappointed about, fingers crossed it will be introduced soon. If the main courses are anything to go by, they would be delicious. Will definitely return again though, great to have a restaurant like this with a great atmosphere so local.

Booked a table for 6 using their opentable booking system a few weeks ago for my girls christmas party who are all travelling from out of town. (sat 3rd) @7.30pm to which i recieved an email confirmation, on Monday recieved an email from opentable saying my booking had been changed to 6.30pm. There was no conversation or no request, they just changed it, due to travel time and family commitments 6.30pm was not possible. I tried to call the resturant who are closed Mon/Tues so had to wait until Wed to speak to someone to be told that its nothing to do with them, that opentable change times themselves, there fully booked and can not accommodate. I explained its a Saturday at xmas and difficult to get a booking at short notice, and if they wouldn't of accepted the booking weeks ago, we could of booked somewhere else. They took no ownership and blamed the booking system that they chose to use, if they know it does this, they should use a system they can control or have some level of accountability. Absolutely terrible service. Iv been here twice before the food is nice and staff although slow to serve, are generally polite, however this has put me in an unnecessary stressful position trying to find another food venue at such late notice. If you have a group booking I wouldnt trust on it going ahead.

I have had the most disappointing experience from start to finish dealing with staff from this restaurant!! I love to support black business and heard so many great reviews about it but… never again. I booked a party of 21, even tho later when I called to confirm after no communication was asked « who said I could book this many» after taking my £210 deposit!!! And to be told max booking is 12 at the weekend?!? I also sent over pre orders as requested to a whatsapp number given to me over a week before the date but was told the restaurant hadnt received any info when I went in to pay and told to send via Instagram.. so I did.. the day before my birthday meal event I had a call from the new supervisor telling me they should not have booked me as it’s too many ppl and theyre short staffed, again asking who said I could book this many .. then mentioned no kids allowed at the weekend which spoilt it for those with kids?! Last minute.. however they agreed to honour the booking and confirmed they would accommodate. But that she would be off that day ( despite short staff) Told to send pre orders… on instagram(?) AGAIN so I did.. on the day of the meal I noticed orders had a ❤️ From the restaurant suggesting it was ok… The Next day at 6:15pm on m’y birthday 17.11 birthday, i get call from a staff member who shared that there was no chance they could accommodate and it’s already full that night ??!! Again asking who said I could have this number of ppl No real apology or anything no offer like free meal or future discount.. then told I may come in to get my £210 deposit in cash ?!?! Pls don’t waste any more of my time 🙈 I was devastated with the 4 members of staff I dealt with!! All liars incl manager who took the money and clearly shouldn’t have. They need to Communicate with each other and get some training on manners and respect for their customers

A pre booked birthday party cancelled at the last minute disgusting!! 21 people and cancelled an hour beforehand!!

I was due to attend a party booking which was booked 4 weeks in advance but the venue cancelled an hour before the booking.

After excitedly waiting to attend a function at this venue, I was bitterly disappointed to learn that they cancelled the booking for a family member's birthday meal an hour before it was supposed to take place. The original booking was made a month prior to the event and deposit was paid, pre orders were taken. On the day of the event they told the host that they were short staffed and unable to cater for the party. They said the member of staff that took the booking was off ill and shouldn't have taken a booking for a party of that size. My issue is that they should have communicated their inability to host the party way before the day of the event. I believe it is unacceptable and should never have happened. I very rarely leave negative reviews, however I believe in this instance they seriously need to review their booking policy, their communication issues and the way they treat their potential customers.

Pre-ordered food, deposit paid and a week later one hour before attending the restaurant for the birthday booking, was told that the booking was no longer available 😡Very poor customer service, very dissatisfied customer, wouldn’t recommend The soul house

Amazing Food, Amazing staff & And a great service. We had a large booking of 32 people which the restaurant doesn’t usually accommodate for our vision was the fulfilled and all of our guests cannot wait to go back! The Owner & manager = Top Tier 👌🏾

We had lovely experience at The Soul House on Sunday For a Baby Shower The atmosphere and the Deco we was Beautiful. We were all singing along to the music it was lovely The food was Delicious 😋 The Staff was very polite and helpful will definitely be going back for a vist in near future

Parking is not good. Nice venue inside, Bit of a wait for food Food is nice, but expensive for the portion size. Good atmosphere. Service is good, however I do think for such a venue trainers on waiter/waitresses is a no Music is far too loud to have a conversation. Will definitely return

10.11.22. As a group of friends we visited for a social night out and was pleased with the food, drinks,service and atmosphere. We were looked after by Rebecca who was very friendly and very attentive. In addition we would like to say thank you for going the extra mile to ensure our order of Salmon was available. Thanks and praises and we definitely will be back.

Went here for a meal with friends. Upon entering was told our booking could not be found. We ordered drinks and had to change the order as the special offer on cocktails you cannot mix and match? This was no where stated on the menu. Ordered a mutton only to be told was not available after 15 minutes? Also 2 people on the table had starters and these did not come instead mains came first and then went back under the lights on the pass until we had received and ate our starters. When Mains finally arrived the chips were cost and also they added a replacement chips to the bill ???? Service was atrocious throughout no body knew who had ordered what on the table and very slow. We had to remind staff for water for the table and also to order extra drinks. I ordered a cocktail and 5 minutes later was told this was not available.when it came to paying the bill we were ignored by all waitresses and I had to get up to speak to a waitress for the bill. We were then asked to give up the table by wait staff we promptly reminded them we had been trying to pay the bill for 30 minutes. We sat opposite the kitchen staff were not wearing hats or hairnets this a contradiction to food safety. One person said we couldn't split the bill on card and another said this was possible? The food tasted amazing the place is very lavishly decorated but the service and extremely loud music ruined the night. Won't be going back!!!! ☹️☹️☹️

Had to make this disappointing review regarding the soul house wednesbury. What a disgusting, degrading and unprofessional establishment. Below standards on customer service .LOCKING US IN WITH KIDS BECAUSE WE WAITIED nearly 2 HOURS for food to be ready. On the 4th November 2022 we attend the restaurant sat and waited nearly 2 hours for our pre order to be ready.  so as we couldn't wait any longer we wanted to leave and was told we couldn't and they locked the fences so we couldn't leave and then called the police on us as we could not wait any longer for the food. We had paid for what we ate and drank. Thankfully when the police came they demanded they opened the gate and let us go as this was illegal as other tables wanted to leave aswell. Speaking with others who have been there and looking at reviews on google I am seeing the same thing coming up  for this restaurant THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE AND ORGANISATION IS POOR. Waiting long times for food and rude staff not making you feel as if your custom was appreciated. upon reflection the whole process is poor when enquiring we was advised we will need to pay the deposit and gather the pre orders which I did. I Had to keep calling  When we finally spoke to manager we booked with her at 4.30pm on the day of meal nothing was mentioned about food being delayed if this was an issue simply don’t take deposit . At 7pm on the way to the restaurant we received another call from her again saying that the security will not allow kids in even though she as the manager said they can. We asked for refund and she said she will speak to them and never called back. When we arrived  wasnt questioned by security and plus we seen 2 children eating at another table so didn't understand what was all the fuss about. There was no host to seat us we waited 5mins to be seated. After sitting no-one came so we asked for someone to come over to us told them we ready for all the food ordered drinks paid for drinks. Only 4 starters came about 9pm. Was told rest of food will be out in 5mins for the other 7 guests. We had to keep chasing it up as we had kids in party they where very hungry by this point 9.30PM came still no food. No apology. No sympathy. Just abrupt, dismissive staff. At 9.45pm we went over and politely asked where the food was as we can see the kitchen behind she pointed at 1 dish on the side and said that one is ready. So I said we can not wait any longer partly due to the food not ready but a big part was the poor service, the attitudes of staff like we are doing wrong for asking. So we seen we where getting nowhere and proceed to leave when security came over and told us we HAD TO PAY  for the food we had not had. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Then they locked the main gates so we could not leave with our kids and called the police. My kids where crying in distress. It was my birthday which was ruined. We were treated like criminals when we were the actual victims in this situation. The manager acknowledged she didn't make it clear in the text that pre orders needed to be sent over  48hours before and when questioned why she took the deposits then if that was the case and accepted the pre orders only 4 hours before she had nothing to say. basic needs are not being met. Clear communication, being nice and friendly to customers, smiling, apologising when they make a mistake or customers are unhappy have a system to avoid long service. When going restaurants in mailbox you don't get this treatment, when going brindley place they are professional and trained. So why are The soul house charging the same prices for their food with the service they provide not aligned. I am truly disgusted in this restaurant it needs a lot of work. I am writing this as they need to be avoided until they make the change needed they should not be allowed to treat people like this  and get away with it I hope they reflect on their actions in order to not make this happen to other people as it was very traumatic. How would you feel if this happened to you?

I was really torn and actually feel a little bad giving a 3star review but i feel it was justified tonight.... let's break it down... The aesthetic of this place is bang on, its really well presented throughout... its what we would call an instagrammable location. We were required to preorder which we had done accordingly a day or 2 before. Two of our party ordered the sea food platter, only to be told upon arrival that there was no sea food save for prawns and therefore the platter was unavailable, they had to choose something else. The food - I order the signature meal.. I was really impressed with the jerk chichen, it was cooked and seasoned well and was very tasty, the sauce was a nice heat for me.. some nasty find a little too spicy. The chicken tenders were unfortunately dry and not very crispy, the prawns were awful, dry and when I bit into them I could just taste the insides (poop), the prawns had not been cleaned properly. Mac and cheese, coselaw Sweetcorn all fine.. especially the Sweetcorn really nice. I also tried the honey sticky wings and they were crispy and nice, really nice flavour. My sister found her oxtail bland needed a bit more salt etc. My uncle said his steak was really good. There were quite a few items that were not available through out the night from the main menu and also a few dessert options were available but no custard so didn't bother with that. The cocktails were nice, mine was quite fancy with constant bubbles.. it was the black grape something (I forgot). The service here was very good though, from the security man at the door to our waitress, she was very understanding and apologetic for the lack of food availability. She was attentive and listened to our critique with patience and confirmed she would revert to chef and manager. I think this location is aimed more at those for date nights, birthdays, not necessarily families with small kids, there is no baby change. They do have decent parking and is wheelchair accessible. I would come again maybe with a different crowd and without the kids and try again. This place is not a write off and I would definetly encourage you to try it, I for myself would need to see improvements in food availability and some of the food options and I would give it more stars. I really hope they do well as they appear to have a lot of interest.

Stunning venue, music a little too loud though. service was abit slow. staff are pleasant. Cocktails and food 10/10.

A very very disappointing night. Enjoying a lovely night with friends when our party was accused of being racist to a staff member which left us in total shock. A staff member stated it was not actually our party but we were still asked to leave. Shocking. Would not recommend. Stay away all.

We were asked to pre order our food days before and when we got to the resturant they couldnt find our order so we had to wait 2 hours for our food. Also the doorman told us that children could not be in the resturant after 8pm, and that the child would have to leave without the food. They were very disorganised we had to wait a long time for our drinks. Shoddy service. Food was good but the service needs looking at 🤨😤😡

Really like this place. Nice interior, live singer whilse you eat, cockatils with puffs of smoke (lol). Food is delicious Carribean, generous portions. Chef came out to say hi which was a nice touch. Can get nusy so book a table to avoid disappointment

Visited here 3 times and each time has been great. Food is almost always on point and the atmosphere is great. The 1st and 2nd time we went were on a Tuesday and then a Friday which are less busier days and everything was amazing. We visited yesterday and booked for 8pm and when we got there it was so busy! We had to wait for an hour for a table but we didn't mind because we could see the staff were doing there very best to please everyone and the bar is a nice place to sit and have some pre drinks. Once we were sat there were some expected delays. For me the food was great once again a few things not as good this time unfortunately, mac bites were still cold in the middle and food was luke warm not pipping hot like it had been before. Also they changed the mac bites from my last visit and they are no where near as good! If they could change back to their original recipe I would have eaten them cold or not! Haha! We had the sharing platter and there was a lot of food for us to get through and it was all tasty. We did have starters too which probably didn't help because I was stuffed! The garlic mushrooms are so tasty and the jerk prawns always a good choice. I've had the wings before and they are also really nice. Most of the staff there are wonderful,shout out to Melissa who was apologetic throughout and acknowledged that things weren't to the normal standard. Melissa did her very best to make sure we were looked after despite her spinning so many plates. Soul House, you have a gem there with Melissa! Overall its a wonderful little business with little or no competition out there. If you are visiting on a Saturday expect it to busy so don't go in there complaining about stuff and talking to the staff like rubbish (I witnessed this yesterday which was uncalled for) just go in enjoy the music (banging selection of music), enjoy the cocktails (Black grape ripple Is fire!) And remember good food takes time! Can't wait to go back soon!

This place is a jewel in the Crown. It was amazing, the restaurant, the atmosphere, the staff and the food - exceptional. I can't believe I've only just discovered this place. I will definitely be going back. Highly recommended. Best Friday night this year. ✨️

We came here for a retirement party, the food was delicious and the staff were very helpful and polite would definitely recommend this place a visit, beautifully decorated inside, if you want something different then this is your place 👍🏻

I wish I could have posted a photo of our food. My wife and I travel to eat religiously. I honestly can’t believe we didn’t try The Soul House sooner. It’s right on our door step. The food is to die for. I think it’s the first time my wife hasn’t took a photo before digging in. Presentation is bang on, the marinated jerk chicken is the best I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection. Presentation of the drinks matches those of high end restaurants in the city. I see a great future for The Soul House especially given the chilled, classy atmosphere with live music, cherry blossom decor and a great crowd. Will deffo be recommending friends family and colleagues. Thanks for a great night and big shout out to the kitchen staff, waitresses, management and live singers. Don't waste your time the staff are rude ! None of them have a clue what good customer service skills are. Booked a table and it got gave away 3 hours later no food and no drink ! Then got kicked out for complaining about it.

Loved the experience food was plentiful and tasted great..only thing I could critique was the music was slightly too loud could not here conversations but perhaps I should not have sat under a speaker 😅 great food ..

This restaurant is stunning and I love that it is right on my door step too! Tia was very smiley, pleasant and attentive. We had the vegan burger and it was delicious! The music selection was great. Plans already made to return Thank you chef and the rest of The Soul House :)

Well worth a visit if you fancy something different. Good fun. They sometimes have guest soul artists, and the food is very nicely prepared and presented. Cocktails good and even the wines are good. A great atmosphere. Very friendly and has the potential to be one of the best restaurants outside the City centre. Quirky and different and a really good night out. Smaller and more intimate than Turtle Bay and more fun with better food!

This is the new place just opened this week, Great place to have a meal or drinks, very good setting and very good service. Food is delicious and fresh, loved it and will come again, very friendly staff
