The Smoke Pit Bistro in Bridgend

8 of us visited the restaurant. Thought it was quiet only 3 teenage girls there. .... Perhaps there was a reason ..... .......🤔 Ordered our food. Ribs .... only Two ribs on the plate mostly bone, not a lot of meat grossly overpriced at £14 and £5 for dirty fries. ( Bowl of frozen chips with a sprinkling of topping. )😱 Other food ordered was the meat platter. Again for £28 inluding 2 side dishes it was not good value as not a lot of meat. Burgers seemed ok but overpriced. 😱😱 The final nail in the coffin was being charged for several side dishes which were inclusive . When pointed out the bill was amended but no apology.😱😱😱 Only saving grace was no bar so we bought alcohol from the garage opposite. 😀 Needless to say we will not be returning.

We’ve been meaning to try The Smoke Pit for ages and we’re so glad we finally got around to it. The service was really friendly and the food was excellent. There were some unusual items on the menu that were nice to try, such as the donut pork shoulder burger. We’ll definitely be back to try more!

Visited as a family for Sunday lunch and we all agreed it was the tastiest we’d had in ages. The jerk pork croquette starter with toffee apple purée was a real highlight and a great way to start the meal. The roast itself was superb - plenty of well-cooked, tender meat, roast potatoes and parsnips, cabbage and a delicious, crisp, light Yorkshire pudding. Boiled new potatoes, a selection of vegetables, properly cheesy cauliflower cheese and tasty gravy were served alongside for us to help ourselves. The dessert menu looked delicious, but we didn’t have room… Next time maybe! Very competitively priced at £16 for two courses or £20 for three. All in all a perfect place to stop for lunch on a Sunday family walk along the river. A couple of points that would have made things even better: - We would normally have a glass of wine with Sunday lunch, but the venue is unlicensed. - There didn’t seem to be baby changing facilities, which is quite unusual, but easily rectified.

Popped in here on our last night as it was close to where we were staying. Wish we'd tried it earlier as we would have gone back. Food was delicious, just enough choice on the menu & although no kids menu options for the kids like mac n cheese which went down well. I had a miner's burger which was possibly the tastiest burger I've ever had, presentation definitely had the wow factor & service was brilliant, really attentive all evening. Good ambience, its' spacious, rustic, wooden appearance inside is not even hinted at outside, you would walk past if you didn't know.

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts Great choice Excellent service. Comfortable environment Food hot and very tasty. Well worth the price.

Had a delivery of Sunday roast today and it was amazing and actual home made yorkshire pudding which is definitely a plus as alot of places don't bother doing them home made. We all enjoyed thanks will definitely use you again

Popped in for a coffee whilst on a cycle ride but ended up ordering four lovely deserts. Made very welcome by charming lady serving. Made our day 😊 Exceptional customer service will try to visit for a meal one day.

Wanted a breakfast that was more than your average cafe . We had been told they are doing it their own way so we decided to try it. Ordered one normal one large breakfast plus the brisket bowl on the side. Brisket bowl was very good and unlike anything I have ever had before. Breakfast plates were good, bacon was perfect the beans kept separate and the black pudding crispy. Eggs were runny and the toast was hot and plenty of butter. Sausages were herby mushrooms were seasoned perfectly. Hash brown was massive and tasty. It was a lot of food and when we added the brisket meal that was way to much but I wanted to try it. Coffee was excellent the service was amazing and I did not realise how big the place is, tardis like massive. Go try the place out they do evening meals as well. Thanks marcel for doing something different. Support local businesses give this place a try, they have plenty of parking.

Visited The Smoke Pit Bistro for the first time this morning, had two full English breakfasts with a family member. She states it was the best breakfast she’s ever had and I totally agree! Awesome service, food was outstanding and the hash browns were incredible. Will be visiting for lunch & dinner in future! Would recommend a visit!

I had breakfast last Saturday and Tuesday, on both occasions the eggs were stone cold and at the second breakfast, they had no hashbrowns which indicate bad planning. Also, both breakfasts were really greasy!! What was good was their sausages which were of good quality.

Great place with wonderful menu and cosy atmosphere. The staff are so lovely and very helpful with any questions about the menu. We have been for every family birthday this year and will be going later this week for another. As locals we are so pleased to have this in the area.

Fab eggs benedict served here. So tasty - going back to try the evening menu which looked amazing. Choosing is going to be difficult.

Visited for breakfast. Absolutely delicious and nicely prepared. Staff super friendly. We liked it so much we booked to come back in the evening for dinner.

Not normally a ribs person but these ribs are the most delicious ribs I have had to date. Fall off the bone, hardly any mess and very Morrish. The second time we went I had a steak which was cooked to perfection and has got to be the best steak I’ve had out ever. Very friendly staff and very professional. 10:10 my new favourite place to go.

This place is absolutely amazing, The food is 10/10 also the staff are very helpful and polite. I just read the review from mike and it’s such a sad world when someone has got to go out of their way to slander the business and make blatant lies. I’ve been there numerous occasions and have never seen anyone enter or leave with a bag apart from women with their handbags. Shame on you mike for leaving such a blatant lied comment you’ve clearly got a vendetta against this place or your a very bitter and jealous man.

Visited for breakfast and wasn't disappointed, fabulous little place ... food was delicious, between us we had a full English breakfast and eggs florentine both superb, service was excellent and decor beautiful, will eat here again without doubt 😊
