went for dinner with my family and young baby. had an amazing time everyone was so friendly. every single one of us really enjoyed food was 10/10and would definitely recommend!! lovely outside garden area too!

Went in waited an hr for food whilst other people got served b4 us even though we had been there before them once food came I had a onion and tiny steak on plate supposedly 10oz nowhere near also no chips and other stuff that was meant be there I queried this it came out 15 mins later I'd finished my brothers was missing his veg was told that would come never came waitresses moody as he'll when came to Bill paid on card they had over charged me by over £48 had to then go back and try get refund shocking and not a nice place AVOID

Lovely pub, very nice staff. We had "Roast beef" it clearly was not cut off a joint only nice thing on the plate was the Yorkshire pudding. Sorry

Came here for the 1st time for Sunday lunch.We have just moved to near Malton & was recommended to try this place-so glad we did !!! Probably the best Sunday dinner I’ve ever had ! Food & service was fantastic & just booked again to go back in a Friday night Highly highly recommend

Live locally, what a breath of fresh air to visit here! Will certainly return. Popped in as my sisters birthday also were collecting grandson from footy training hence deciding on lunch. So pleased we did. Food was awesome, staff friendly and facilities immaculate. Beautiful area at the back, plenty of seating, also orangery. Do call, you will not be disappointed.

Proper pub. Amazing deep fried black pudding!

Just got back from a lovely meal with my husband and dog Reggie. We asked for a table away from others as Reggie can be vocal too say the least! Hubby had the short ribs and sticky toffee pudding, I had the tagliatelle with chicken and the pavlova for the dessert. All was amazing and we are stuffed. The young lady that served us our food was very understanding about it dogs reactivity and it didn't phase her at all (he's a Frenchie). Would highly recommend.

Excellent lunch here today! Great service and good background music. Lovely establishment too! Huge portions, lovely presentation, attention to detail and excellent value for money.

Fantastic country pub. We had roast dinner (beef) there was also a good choice for vegetarians. Very generous portions. Desserts were marvellous. Staff were very friendly and attentive. There is a car park opposite. One of our group has mobility issues so we just parked out the front to get them out and parked over the road. Highly recommended.

Awesome food, friendly staff that can't do enough for you, clean old fashioned pub, prices resemble the food meaning well worth it, went for evening meal with the dog we was all welcomed in.

Great kittle pub. Food was excellent. 3 adults got the yorkshire bacon cheese burger and a drink each for £39. Wednesday is free pool and a burger or pizza and a pint for £10. The place is very clean and keith and lisa the proprietors and excellent, friendly, welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. Would highly recommend a visit to this little jem.

Really loved this pub. We just fancied a roast when driving home from Whitby to Manchester. A quick Google search showed this place as well reviewed & nearby. The food & service was impeccable. The landlady ran a very tight ship. Well worth a visit!!

Had fish n chips, and the beef pie and they were amazing, the venue is great, the service and staff are great, we loved it

Totally different experience tonight, last minute drop in, restaurant looked busy, fit us all in last minute and the food was great. We will be visiting again

Ate here last night for the Christmas party season. Hats off to the chef & staff for making it a great night. Starters came camembert & sticky pigs in blankets beautiful. Mains beef melt in the mouth & turkey cooked to perfection. Desserts just topped everything off. Food on another level well worth the price. Staff attentive & friendly smiles on their faces atmosphere fantastic. Well worth a visit not just for Christmas food. Always a warm welcome & excellent food. Thank you for a great evening.

Called in on the off chance with our dogs without booking a table and was made welcome. Food was fab and the staff were very pleasant too. Definitely recommend

Chicken was beautifully cooked, in a delicious sauce- only way it could have been improved is if more vegetables had been served with the dish. Burger with skin-on chips was really good. Very generous portions. I had a rhubarb crumble which was absolutely gorgeous- serbed with vanilla custard and ice cream- it was so large I had to share it, and there was more than enough for two!! Very friendly service, lovely atmosphere with sport on television and good music selection playing. Highly recommend this place!!!

Called in to see the pub as there is a family connection to the original Blacksmiths Arms C1940. The pub was busy throughout . Food was superb. Staff were all polite , helpful and accommodating as was the landlady. One of the tastiest meals I had in a good while . Fresh . Hot and fairly quickly delivered. Excellent sums up our experience . 👏

Roadside pub, beautiful building, hidden gem. It's huge, inside and out. Great car parking opposite. Food was amazing. Fish and chips superb and massive. This pub is spotless and gorgeous, and very dog friendly. Lovely outdoor space. Really friendly staff.

We came as a group of 6, two nights in a row. They were so accommodating for us. The menu is small, but everything we had was superb. Can not fault them. The prices were reasonable, the place was clean, the staff were friendly and attentive. X

We had lunch with the family and the food was very good. It was freshly cooked, hot and delicious. The service was very friendly. I would recommend this pub for home cooked food.

Our first visit as we are on holiday nearby. Called for lunch. 4 adults. 2 large fish and chips with mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce. One burger (2 patties) with chips. One Whitby scampi and chips with mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce. All main courses were super! 2, sweets Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and custard. 1 rhubarb crumble with ice cream and custard. Gorgeous. Will be going back again!

Absolutely amazing food and service. Ed was an absolute gem with both service and care. The food was to die for. The atmosphere and ambience was perfect. Love this place.

Arrived about 2.45 pm and wasn't sure if they were still doing food,but they accommodated us no problem.. Sophie was very polite and friendly (our server) and the pub seemed very clean and gave a good atmosphere.. My wife had the pie of week,which was braised beef with veg and chips..she said the beef was lovely..I had scamp and chips,peas and homemade tartare sauce..also very nice. It was also nice to not be ripped off having a no alcohol cider as driving, as some establishments charge way over the top..so thanks for that. Would deffinatly recommend.

Recommended by a local, we had lunch there and it was really good, so we went back for dinner and then breakfast which were both equally as good, pleasant helpful staff, some ,lovely walks for which the pub supply maps, worth a try.

Booked in advance for Sunda on the bank holiday weekend. Never been in before. Was visiting the area. The food was amazing, I would definitely go again. The lamb was cooked to perfection. I would advise visiting and booking in advance.

Booked via telephone. Very acccomodating. We were due at Castle Howard at 6, therefore wanted to eat around 4.30 however was told they dont start serving til 5 However, offered us to arrive at 3 for end of lunchtime and were told we were more than welcome to stay as.long as needed by the fire. On the day we were running late and called ahead to notify them we were 8mins away they stated not a problem thanks for calling and they would let Chef know. Arrived to a warm welcome and great homecooked food. The staff were super friendly. This fabulous traditional pub is what every village is missing, dog friendly too. We went for a Sunday lunch it was beautiful, staff were friendly and the place was warm enough. We enjoyed the Sunday roast that we ended up booking for a new year's dinner!!

Beef bourguignon was a bit dry. If not dry , was drenched in red wine sauce. Spring rolls were absolutely delicious. Despite the beef etc , the customer service was friendly, top notch , lovely village atmosphere, so will dine in again soon.

Great pub ! Had grandsons christening celebration here. Perfect setting with kids outdoor play area. Lovely buffet served with lots of choice at a reasonable price. Lovely atmosphere and owner and staff couldn't be more helpful. Highly recommend.

Absolutely spot on for our family gathering of nine, great service and lovely welcome, we all had the Sunday lunch, By the way the Yorkshire puddings are big enough to hold a pint of gravy, super crispy and cooked to perfection. Roast beef was first class as was the Chicken dinner. Puddings were excellent, great pints of Guinness, pool table and sky sports. Highly recommended would suggest booking in advance.

Absolutely love the Smithy Arms. Friendly staff and excellent food in lovely surroundings. They have a separate Gluten Free menu. If you are driving, just be aware the car park is across the road.

Beautiful Sunday lunch today. Nice sized portions with plenty of vegetables and a huge fluffy Yorkshire Pudding on top. Highly recommended.

Menu was uninspiring, nothing that couldn't be cooked at home. Would not call this a gastro pub, the menu differs slightly on other evenings with a few extra items added.

I was invited to a baby shower, the room nice and private for a small function. Also access to the bar for drinks. Enjoyable afternoon.

This is really great place to go for a special dinner occasion. On this occasion it was a Christmas experience. Great food and very helpful and friendly service.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff!

To be honest I was the only place we could get a table at short notice. I can now see why as the wait for the meals was way way too long. They kept apologizing, didn't offer a free drink for the very lengthy wait..the food was ok, veg was over cooked, was supposed to be a roast chicken dinner but it was just a tough chicken fillet. Probably the only thing worth going for was the chocolate brownie & icecream & we even had to ask twice for that..appalling service, prices were steep for what we had.. All in all it was nice to catch up with friends but I don't think we will be calling again any time soon.

Food was lovely. Got a table for a large group last minute walk in Halloween decorations were a nice touch.
