Liked · The room was clean & tidy, fresh bedding & towels, staff were very nice . Disliked · the noise from the tv in the bar below felt like we were in the same room!?? And we had gone to bed to escape the tv in the bar… the mattress was sooooo soft I felt sea sick… not a good nights sleep at all. Advertised as continental breakfast, which was a sliced loaf, a toaster and some jam :/ And to top it off, some one had drained my petrol tank!? I had filled up at Cheshire Oaks a few hours before our arrival, only having driven a short distance, when I returned to the car in the morning, I was on 1 bar!? And after 10 min of driving it was empty!? Which leads me to the conclusion that some one drained the tank, whilst parked outside :/

We found The Ship as a mid point between our families. What a find! Warm welcome, excellent service, delicious food, ice cold drinks. They brought out our birthday cake and even had ice cream for our dogs. Very impressed indeed. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again. High points were their homemade chips & the cleanliness was excellent throughout too. Thank you so much to The Ship!!

If I was rating on staff/service/friendliness I would give this place a 5 star review but the food was pretty awful and really only deserves 1 or 2 stars at best but I'm trying to be kind as they seem like lovely people. We stopped at this pub because there was an A board outside saying "Great food" and we took it on face value so we really were expecting something at least "good". We were very hungry after driving for quite some time, so we did eat the food but really didn't enjoy it. If we hadn't been so hungry the plates would have gone back full I'm afraid. Gravy tasted like packet (instant) gravy, potatoes seemed like they'd been reheated more than once - really awful. Giving 3 stars is being kind but as I say the staff were lovely and the service great. If they take more care in what they produce in the kitchen, this place could be great.

We have been for early evening dinner twice since re-opening after lock-down. The owners have been busy doing some up-grades whilst closed but the food is still as tasty and mouth watering as ever. Social distancing being followed and track and trace in use, so you will be asked your details if first time customers. I highly recommend you try the Ship.

We took the coast road home from Wales as the A55 was very busy. We passed the Ship and as we were hungry went in for something to eat. The food was delicious. Between us we had lasagna and steak baguette with real chips. The cost with tea and coffee was less than £20. We will definitely be returning. The staff are also very friendly.

After looking at the reviews my husband and I were not disappointed! We took our dog Olliedudes along and we were offered water and treats this is a big plus sign for us as doggie lovers 🐶. I can be a fussy eater so I was absolutely delighted with my spinach and red pepper lasagne 😋. It was amazing, with huge homemade and perfectly cooked chips I’ve never eaten so much at a meal! My hubby had fish and chips and the batter was perfect and he loved the huge homemade chips too! Staff and locals were friendly and made us feel welcome 🙌.

You can alway tell how good a place is by the line of people waiting to be served. Good portions, great fish plus a range of other dishes.

Took a slight detour on our way to Anglesey to visit the Ship for lunch. It was certainly worth it. Food was very good, as has been said already - super chips and all reasonably priced. Dogs are welcome in the bar..

Travelling leisurely from North Wales to Liverpool for Ferry home to the Isle of Man, we felt a bit peckish (after a successful visit to the brilliant Abakhan Fabric Barn up the road), and spotted this unassuming pub just off the main road. What a lovely surprise. Really cheery greeting and a must-have Steak Baguette with Salad and excellent ‘proper’ Chips. So pleased we found it. Will return.

Lovely food, what a little gem, found on way home from a visit to Rhyl , the fact we were asked had we booked is testimony to its popularity, well recommended.

We went for the full set menu for a pre-Christmas lunch. This consisted of starter, main course, dessert, with cheese and biscuits to follow. My wife and I both had the Prawn Cocktail to start, followed by Roast Turkey. The vegetables came in a separate individual dishes with an excellent selection, whilst the Roast Turkey was accompanied by stuffing, pigs in blankets and potatoes. For dessert, I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which is to die for and my wife had the traditional Christmas pudding. Just in case we had any room left, there was a selection of cheeses, biscuits and homemade pickles to complete the meal. Thoroughly worth every penny.

This was a proper life saver and a really really good place! We’d been into Liverpool for the day and were on our way home. We needed to eat but couldn’t be bothered with anywhere big or loud. Because I’ve seen the signs outside before I thought we’d give it a go. SO SO SO CHUFFED we did! Magnificent and so so so reasonable in price too. Nothing was too much trouble! Kids (2 of them) are for a £1 with our adult meals! The food was excellent. Top quality, proper down to earth and homely food. Really loved it. Definitely going again! Brilliant.

Just had Sunday lunch at the Ship today, a beautifully home cooked 3 course meal for under a tenner. Fantastic food at a good price, brilliant courteous professional staff and a really nice pint, what more could you want for a Sunday lunch? Highly recommended.

Service was spot on, brilliant atmosphere before watching the Champions League Final on the TV. After the match treated to live music, to finish off a brilliant evening. We all had steak and each one cooked as e like it. Service was no problem, despite being very bust and some customers requesting food without booking.

We used the Saturday evening option of steaks and a bottle of wine! The steaks were cooked to perfection and the wine lovely. We took the white wine option as white was preferred by us, but it accompanied the steaks perfectly. To fill the little space left, I can thoroughly recommend the "Sticky Toffee Pudding", my favourite. Although the menu is predominately British, there are curry and pasta options.

The Ship Inn, locally known as "The Gletch" has been taken over by new landlord and lady. It offers a friendly traditional style pub with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Darren, the land lord will be happy to tell you the history of pub's local name if you ask. The pub offers all the amenities of a traditional pub, whilst not forgetting the 21st century needs of satellite TV for all the big sporting events. Recently opened for Sunday lunch only both in the pub and available as a takeaway. The takeaway, quite a unique feature for a traditional Sunday Lunch. Still expanding and improving, Darren and Siobhan have recently included outside seating and a play area for children. Definitely worth a visit.

A fantastic little coffee stop in the heart of Shotton. You are sure to receive a lovely welcome from Pat. She makes a fantastic latte and even provides a biscuit on the side, all for £1.30. So why would you not want to call in for a beverage. So good I had two today!! Why not browse the stationary and cards for sale while there. As they have a good selection of quality merchandise to purchase too. A great little place.

Went to a games night with the nephews, great vibe, played table tennis, did a jigsaw, and throw throw burrito! Homemade cake was incredible, especially the gluten free brownie! Would highly recommend it, we will be going again!

If you’re in and around the Connahs quay, you should check out this lovely community cafe. Reasonable priced and the service is fab. I had an all day breakfast it was delicious. I have been a few times now and would definitely recommend it.

Took the family for a meal last weekend and we were all impressed. The log fire in the inglenook fireplace was very welcoming. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Two of our party had whitebait for starters and said they were the best they've ever tasted. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Well done to you all at the Cross Foxes.
