Very busy, which is usually a good sign. However, 20 minutes after we sat down we were offered drinks and to give the food order. 10 minutes later the drinks arrived, minus one of the drinks ordered. It was still busy, with only two staff serving, and they did apologise about the delay. The food was good, nothing standout about it, apart from the lack of wilted greens with the seafood special. By this stage we’d lost the will to complain.

Popped in tonight with no reservation during our visit to Tarbert. Lovely menu with great selection. We went for Fish Moroccan Stew & special fish of the day. Both delicious & very generous portions.. Gorgeous selection of salmon, scallops & prawns. Staff great & nice atmosphere. Prices really good for the produce served. Well worth a visit.

Exceeded expectations - good food, excellent friendly service and high quality surroundings. Oysters and scallops were outstanding while Fish & Chips were good tho my wife’s batter needed to be a bit hotter and crispier.

Tarbert is a lovely little harbor town, and the Sea Bed was a perfect quiet dinner spot for our single night stay. We ordered the seafood platter for two. Delicious and quite filling!

How I wish we could give this Restaurant, more than 5 stars, suffice to say, we ( My Husband & myself ) went here two nights running, it was that good. I've been a Chef for decades, so feel I can give an honest, & unbiased opinion about the food. The word fabulous, doesn't really give the Sea bed enough credit. We had never been here before, but read about it, in this Months ( Nov 2023 ) Scots magazine. On seeing it was in the vacinity we were staying in, ( for my 80th Birthday,) decided to try it. SO glad we did. First night, Neil, the smashing happy & informative server, was amazing, & very quick with the food. Thanks for that, even tho' we hadn't booked, & took a chance on getting a table, as it was a Monday night. It was really busy ! Tells you everything I think. The 2nd night, Ross & the lovely young lady server, were brilliant,& nothing was too much trouble for them. Portions were a good size, & we left feeling as tho' we'd had a meal ( sadly, unlike some eating establishments in the area ) The sea Bed, overlooks the harbour in Tarbert, & is part of the Anchor Hotel. We will definately be staying there, when we're up that way again from our Home in Ayrshire. Can't wait to come back ! We certainly will " Haste us back "

Ate here on Monday night as the Starfish was shut and another we tried didn't do food on a Monday and glad we tried it, Cullen Skink was tasty and hearty if a touch too creamy, duo of pork (steaks and belly pork) was both delicious and enormous. Great service and draught Peroni topped off a great meal in a nice warm restaurant on a cool July night.

We had 3 problems with our meal1. The tap water was undrinkable - it was served in a shiny metallic jug and horrendously metallic. The water in the hotel rooms was fine. Was this just a ploy to get us to buy bottled water?2. The dish described as "Oven Baked Citrus & Herb Crusted Salmon" was served without any crust. When we raised this after seeing others being served with a crust we were told the chef was new and had forgotten the crust and we would not be charged for the dish.3. The "Raspberry Dalucino (an Italian Cranachan) described as Scottish raspberry, honey, Amaretto, oat crumb, Chantilly cream had no discernible Amaretto in it. When we asked if this had been forgotten we were told that it was "just a very mild hint". It was so mild that 4 of us could not taste it...

Visiting family we ended up heading back to our hotel much later than anticipated. Knew our hotel's last order was 8.30pm and it was already 9 and we were still a good distance away. First place we came to was Tarbert about 9.15pm so decided to give it a try but at that time on a Sunday evening on the West Coast of Scotland, thought we might end up with a takeaway. First place we spotted on the harbour was The Sea Bed, checked and they said they were still serving. How lucky that was - very modern, clean decor, friendly staff and gorgeous food, with very generous portions.Good seafood selection but other choices also available including Sunday roast beef which my partner had and declared it fantastic.

My husband and I had an evening meal at The Sea Bed, during a very busy evening at the end of December. Firstly, I have to say that the two waitresses were dreadfully busy, and the management really should have had another person on duty. Our meal did take a long time to arrive, probably due to the kitchen and waiting staff being so busy. My soup - a watercress and spinach veloute - was absolutely delicious, and I would like to compliment the chef. The fish and chips that my husband and I had were tasty, but I have to say that my fish was a little undercooked, resulting in a pale, pasty looking batter. My husband ordered a dessert of Cranachan. After 20 minutes it still hadn't arrived, so we ordered the bill. Just as we were leaving, our waitress apologised and informed us that she had forgotten about the dessert. The Sea Bed has received great reviews and I can only hope that this was an 'off' evening at the restaurant.

An unplanned visit to a wild and rainy Tarbert today found us looking for a place to eat with two hungry boys. The welcome and service we received was both warm and efficient. The food was excellent, freshly cooked and thoroughly enjoyed. The kids meal was just as tasty as the main menu (chocolate milkshake went down very well). We hope to return to visit Tarbert on a sunny day and we will certainly be planning a return visit to this restaurant then.

We were on holiday in Tarbert and, having looked at the various eating places on offer, chose the Sea Bed hotel at the Anchor Hotel because they were offering a 2 for 1 deal on the main courses. It's a fairly expensive place to eat, in comparison with other places, but we thought the deal would make it worthwhile. We booked a table in the afternoon and asked about the deal. The man at reception explained that the deal would be from a choice of about 20 main courses, including steak. When we arrived at the restaurant it was very busy - obviously it's a popular deal. The service was quite slow but we weren't in a hurry. The menu was handed to us, and we noted the steak, but decided in the end to order risotto (costing just over £16) and a venison burger (around £12,50). The food was nice - the burger was huge and the chips were very fresh and crispy. We then ordered drinks plus desserts to follow. When we got the bill, we noticed it was wrong as they had not given us the 2 for 1 discount, and they had not charged us for 2 of our 4 drinks. We spoke to the waitress who told us that we had not ordered from the 2 for 1 deal menu. We explained that we had not been given the menu even though we had asked about the deal when we booked. We did not realise that we should have asked for a separate, (apparently secret!) special menu. This seems rather an underhand way to treat guests. If there is a deal going, you would expect to be offered it along with the normal a la carte menu. The waitress who brought the bill was not the one who seated us and took our order, and she said she would not charge us for the 2 drinks they had accidentally left off the bill anyway. In order to not cause a fuss and ruin our night, we just accepted that, but that only saved us about half of what we should have saved with the main course deal.Despite the food being good, it just spoilt the night. The service was friendly but slow.

On a day visit to lovely Tarbert we stopped for lunch here with a window seat and nice view of the harbour. The decor is nice and fresh. The Cullen Skink was thick and tasty it was let down by bread that was not the freshest. Nice menu.

We called here for lunch on our way to Inverarary. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and clean. There were other diners and the food that they had looked very good. We only ordered soup and sandwiches when it came it was well presented and the soup was very good. The only thing about the sandwiches one of us found the bread to be on the thick side so took the top slice off and had it as an open sandwich. The smoked salmon in the sandwiches was excellent and plenty of it.The staff were pleasant and knowledgeable about what was on the menu.

Visited The Anchor Hotel whilst visiting Tarbert for the day with high expectations, unfortunately the place isn't what I expected at all. We entered the restaurant area and had to stand at the door while staff talked behind the bar as we weren't sure if you could just sit anywhere or if you were allocated a table. A waitress eventually came forward, no formal greeting. Gave us menus but never told us what the soup was. The menu itself looked good, using lots of local seafood however there aren't many light options. Took the staff about 10 minutes to come and take our order(it wasn't busy at all). I had seen online that the hotel does cocktails but couldn't see anything about them/the staff didn't mention them so I asked a waitress and she gave me a larger menu and just said "back page." The cocktails were quite pricey but using premium brands this was understandable. We ordered 2 cocktails, and they took literally about 20 minutes to come. We reminded the waitress that we had ordered them and she told me that they were being made. Never have I been somewhere for cocktails and had it made through the back somewhere, they should always be made Infront of the customer so they can see exactly what is going in them - which then makes me sceptical that it is actually premium brands going into them. Our food arrived and it was reasonable, however we ordered a side dish of onion rings which was terrible, undercooked and greasy. The staff would've been informed about this if they had bothered to check on us. When clearing us we did tell the waitress who was kind enough to take it off the bill. The presentation of the whole place is beautiful, modern and very clean but I think the anchor hotel needs to work on their customer service. Regardless of how nice a place looks, it is always down to service which makes the experience enjoyable.

Very nice, pleasant, cozy place to eat especially on a rainy day. The place was pretty quiet the day we were there. It had been raining and it probably kept the tourists away. I had the fish cakes, very good with a slightly smoky flavor. My wife had the fish and chips. Nice large fillet. Looked very good as she also said. It's in the Anchor hotel, easy to find on the Main street of town.

On a solo sailing trip to Tarbert I was fortunate to get a call back confirming that a table had now become available. I don't normally do fine dining without the wife. My starter of Scallops in garlic butter with Samphire was excellent, no, they were better than excellent, followed by delicious Cod Fillet in sauce. The team were welcoming and the whole dining experience was first class. Meeting a friendly and knowledgeable couple from New Zealand made the "Dinner for One" a more relaxed and enjoyable evening. Go there, eat good food, get great service, and meet nice people.
