The Real Greek - Norwich in Norwich

We recently visited The Real Greek and while the service was friendly and the atmosphere cozy, the food unfortunately didn’t quite hit the mark. The meat we ordered came out overcooked—burnt on the outside and dry inside—which made it hard to enjoy. That said, the sides were decent, and the staff were attentive and kind, which we appreciated. Maybe it was just an off day in the kitchen, but for the price, we expected better. We might give this restaurant a skip next time .

Sat outside making the most of the sunshine. It’s a nice little place to people watch, relax and have a drink before lunch. The service was really good and the food didn’t disappoint. It was also very good value. They have a small lunch menu Monday to Friday for £13. We would happily return.

We live on the outskirts of Ipswich and decided to go to Norwich as we had never been there before for a days shopping. We finished our shopping and saw The Real Greek restaurant and thought it would be a nice place to eat. Decided on the mese for two and was quickly told there was no lamb meatballs - they hadn't arrived - this was about 2 o'clock in the afternoon, this didn't bode well ! The starters came, taramasalata, some kind of feta cheese chopped up in a pink sauce which didn't look very appetising and crudites which were really badly chopped chunks of carrots, stringy celery and cucumber, the only thing that was good was the small amount of flat bread and the one olive !!! Next came the main meal, one skewer of burnt pork on a bed of copious coleslaw, another dish with calamari and a piece of lemon and a dollop of mayo. We were each given a dish that was supposed to have a real Greek salad in, ours had huge chunks of tomatoes, lumps of onion, chunks of green pepper a great big lump of feta cheese and not an olive in sight, probably the worst looking greek salad I have ever seen or tasted. We picked about and paid the bill and the waitress asked was everything ok and we said the meal was not very good and we told her about the burnt meat and she said she would tell the kitchen and would we like to take the tip off the bill, to which we said no, it was not her fault that the meal was not good. Unfortunately, both of us had really upset stomachs during the night, and as that was the only place we ate at and the meat was definitely not right, it could have only been there. This was a very poor experience and one to never be repeated!

Service was excellent, food delicious. Would definitely eat here again and again. Wish we lived nearer. Ludovit provided great service

fantastic meal at the real greek norwich last night. food was lovely and service was prompt. the young server, alex, tended graciously to all of us including our young rambunctious baby. was so kind and had a brilliant humour, and was very helpful and non-judgemental when our baby made a big spill. thank you :)

We visited for our child’s birthday and Dillon went above and beyond to make our visit special! The food was delicious and arrived quickly, the staff were all obviously happy to be at work and we had a lovely evening. Dillon delivered 5* Customer service and elevated our experience.

Stopped in for lunch after a shopping trip. It was late in the lunch service, things were quietening down however the service was really slow. Incorrect drinks received, we had completely finished our drinks by the time food arrived. The food was really good, absolutely no complaints with this, fresh and tasty and I felt good value for money. We then had a long wait for the table to be cleared and gave up waiting on the bill and stood at the til until someone helped! The staff were very pleasant and friendly but despite not being overly busy and being plenty staffed it was just too slow.

Dilon was amazing, we can’t thank him enough he we above and beyond, thankyou for making our date so lovely! Your a credit too your team.

We had the moussaka but instead of layers of egg plant (which is the traditional Greek way) it had layers of potato. Very disappointing, as they call themselves "THE REAL GREEK"

Food was great, service was a bit of a problem in that our order wasn't quite right. Quite cramped.

The moussaka was amazing, nice portion of it. Tasted amazing, the wraps are good as well. Good choice on the menu. Staff were good, always at hand to help the customers needs.

Only about 25% full at lunch time. Wanted to sit outside but refused to move 1 chair to make a table or 3 up.

Visited on Saturday 22nd February 2024. Was served by Ludo who was so attentive and ensured all our food was gluten free. The food was delicious. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because the food wasn’t hot but it definitely wouldn’t prevent us visiting again.

Food was very good, service was amazing! Annie had a beautiful smile and a wonderful personality made us feel so welcome!! We shall be coming back

Cold chips, tipped-over hummus which made a mess everywhere and very little falafel.

The food relative to the price was actually quite nice. Unfortunately they only serve the cold meze first and the hot meze second. This meant that half the table was sitting around for over an hour before they had anything to eat.

Food was delivered on time as it said. The food itself was horrible and I wouldn’t order from them again! The lamb & Halloumi were both over cooked & burnt- we didn’t eat them! The flat bread were smothered in salt! Very disappointing.

We dined at The Real Greek tonight and what can I say, the service was the best I’ve recieved in norwich. We were welcomed by the lovely Raul who was exceptionally welcoming and looked after us until halfway through our meal when we had the most polite lady named Annie who cared for us up until we left. The food was immaculate and was matched with the loveliest servers. Thank you so much for making our night so special, we will be returning very very soon! All the best to the whole team (but a special shout out to Raul!)

Expensive for what you get. Portions very small so you have to buy more to make a proper meal. No portions are enough to share between 2. Service slow. Food not authentic . Hideously overpriced

We got there yesterday afternoon, and they claimed to be totally booked. But we found tables online and grabbed one! It looked like they were turning people away, even though the upstairs was empty – we saw them do it to, like, five different groups while we were eating. The portions were tiny, it was crazy expensive, and the food wasn't nearly as good as other Greek places – worst octopus and pork ever! The whole thing was a huge disappointment. Plus, they added a 10% service charge – they called it optional, but it was automatically added! You gotta watch out. Only good thing was our waiter; he seemed to really enjoy his job.

They had put the cold drinks in the same bag under the hot food so the drinks were warm and the food was cold… common sense would of avoided it

Unfortunately, it is just small plates of food, we were expecting a wonderful meal like Lamb kleftiko… or a delicious Beef Stifado and other family meals that were the taste of your Greek country ! Burnt souvalaki and burnt pitta bread…. Seriously.. not good We were sadly disappointed that there wasn’t anything special about it! We asked about the vegan options for our family and they were not satisfied that there wasn’t many, then on a sign saying they had a special vegan menu… they didn’t think to tell us about that !! Very expensive food and drinks, we did comment to them and we were given a discount, but I’d rather go to the Greek islands, than waste my money at this type of restaurant !

Great pre theatre meal last night, super efficient staff and order prepared in advance for our arrival. Annie was awesome, got us seated and eating quickly. Food was great,delicious! Highly recommend

I will start off by saying the menu is misleading as there was mention of vegan meatballs, but there was only vegan falafel. Chips had too much herbs on it, and the options were very minimal as a vegetarian vegan couple. Not a place I would go to again in a hurry, but for meat eaters the options did look great.

Quick lunch stop on a last minute shopping trip. Super helpful staff, fast service and good food. Can't fault what we had, good value for money.

Pre booked table Food was amazing the wait on the drinks even when ordering them mother in law stated (water ) ours all came was very long still no water we had to ask... the wait on the food we ordered same time as drinks but food was nearly an hour staff was happy but not at services and walked past many times we hadn't even finished before a chap came over with the card machine meh part from that food was nice for the price can't grumble dont think il be back tho

The food here tastes great and atmosphere is nice. It can be a little bit on the pricey side depending on what you order, but the Groupon deal for £29 was good value as it gave 2 hot plates of your choice, 2 cold dips of your choice, warm flatbread, crutides, and 2 desserts of your choice. Nice food if you want something a bit different.

Waiting and managing staff on the main floor are extremely incompetent. Myself and my 8 year old daughter were told to wait at the bar for a table. We waited 40mins and watched them clear two tables only to fill them with passers by walking in. Absolute joke! After 40mins of ignorance they noticed I was frustrated…too frustrated to eat. we walked out

Popped in for a quick bite with my partner and teenage boy ordered drinks and after that it just went down hill , my glass was filthy so asked for another one , the waitress took it away and obviously tried to clean it , it came back warm and still dirty , no excuse for that apart from pure laziness so didn’t bother asking again and used my water glass instead . Food was not the best either , personally I found it to be rather greasy

Chicken souvlaki was bland, barely a smidge of tzatziki. prawn saganaki was bland and the haloumi fries were too sweet. Price was reasonable but quality werent great.

Cosy greek restaurant right in the city centre. Great atmosphere and tasty food. The staff were really nice and friendly, and made us feel at home. Especially the waitress who served us, Sofia, was amazing. She knew the menu really well and recommended us a few plates, like the prawns, which were excellent. I have been to Greece many times, and my partner lived in Greece for many years, and we were both really satisfied about the quality of the food and the wine selection. If we go back to Norwich, we will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Booked for my son's 17th birthday. The waitress who greeted us could not give one. We were a table of 9 so a big order and the restaurant was quiet. However I had to wait every time we wanted to order apart from the initial drinks order. The waitress on our table, the same as the greeting one did not smile once, when food was delivered she went off without asking if we needed any sauces etc. No-one came to ask if everything was OK. We watched the bar guy do several different jobs, not other orders, before he eventually poured a glass of wine and some water for my daughter and husband who had arrived a bit later. There was one lovely member of staff who helped clear at the end however. The one with plaits however is to avoided. Her dislike of serving our table was palpable. Food good although it was sad the menu has been reduced. I won't return any time soon sadly as I really used to like this restaurant.

Food was cold when arrived, pork in the wrap was dry and hard, over seasoned & hard chips. Delivery was quick from when the app said the driver left the restaurant. Wouldn’t order from again

Food fair but service terrible. Despite it being very quiet, service was terrible. Waiters stood about chatting and we had to ask to be served. Contrary to normal Greek hospitality, this experience was disappointing. Will not be returning even though I am Greek myself.

Tasty food- terrible service. All was fine until we finished our mains; the waitress came to take our plates away and we were asked if we wanted to look at the desert menus, we had already placed the desert order as part of the set menu but reconfirmed the order, we then waited over half an hour with no desert materialising. We also noticed that everyone else around us were being served but we were being ignored, one waitress (blonde in a black dress) spent 15 minutes sitting chatting to her friends who had came in instead of helping the other waitresses, when we grabbed her attention to ask for the bill and to forget about the deserts she was abrupt and rude. We then waited another 10 minutes for the bill which came with the deserts included even though we never received them. My partner asked for them to be removed then we waited a further 10 minutes for the bill to return with the deserts still included but the drinks removed and a second waitress slammed a bag with the deserts on the table. This is not acceptable and we should have received our deserts to eat in the restaurant. My partner again clearly said that we refused to pay for deserts that we were not given the opportunity to eat within the restaurant, at this stage the waitress did accept this. I do believe management are at fault here and the staff member chatting to her friends instead of serving customers contributed directly to the chaos.

Ordered from just eat they messed it up (just eat) waited 2hrs ended up having to go collect. And they were very helpful and gave me the meal for waiting so long even though they didn’t have too. I often order from here and this continues as to why I will in the future great food great service!!!

We visited The Real Greek in Norwich for what turned out to be a truly memorable family afternoon meal. As new parents venturing into the city for the first time with our 7-month-old daughter, we were naturally a bit nervous about dining out. However, from the moment we stepped in, the staff put us completely at ease. The welcome we received was wonderfully warm, and special mention must go to Raul, whose attentiveness and genuine friendliness made our experience exceptional. The team went above and beyond to accommodate our needs with the baby, showing such understanding and patience throughout our visit. The food was absolutely delightful - authentic Greek flavours that transported us straight to the Mediterranean. Each dish was freshly prepared and presented beautifully, demonstrating the kitchen's clear commitment to quality. What made this visit particularly special was how it helped us feel confident about future family dining experiences. The Real Greek has shown that high-quality restaurants can also be wonderfully family-friendly. The atmosphere was perfect - lively enough to mask any baby sounds, yet still intimate enough for a lovely family meal. This restaurant is truly a gem in Norwich's dining scene, and we'll certainly be returning. Thank you to all the staff for making our first family dining experience in the city such a positive one. I was here with my mum after a little shopping trip on the 21st, we walked in and a lady with a mustard beanie greeted us (unfortunately I didn’t get her name) , she let us choose our seat (we chose near the front window) which was nice and out of the way. We began reviewing the menu and we where unsure on how the set menu worked so we asked our waiter (Raul) and he clarified, we also asked the lady again when she brought over our drinks what was good on the menu. She said the moussaka and the chicken monastiraki where good, we well as any fish on the menu. We ordered the moussaka and the chicken as she advised (as well as some other items) to which both where amazing (I had some food envy of the moussaka which my mother ordered. which I found particularly delicious). We then had desserts, baklava and pistachio ice cream which we shared and added a sweet Greek coffee each as a little treat. Raul made sure that everything was ok and made us feel very welcomed. As it was fairly quiet at the time he had time to talk to us, it made the whole experience particularly lovely, it felt genuine and human, he was very charismatic and quite the charmer. I will definitely be coming back on my next trip to Norwich.

Placed the order at 1:30 pm. At 3:30pm the app said it was delivered which it wasn’t. I called the restaurant and they said they had prepared the food but no one came to collect it. I rarely order from just eat and this is the second time this has happened in the last few months. Very disappointed.

Only one halloumi fry in the halloumi souvlaki. Chicken kebabs were burnt. All the rest was nice.
