Olive Tree in Norwich

Order: lamb shish kebab. The lamb came in a very small pitta, with the salad separate. As soon as I took the first bite, I was a bit alarmed by the smell of the meat. It smelt a bit old, but I was hungry and carried on eating. But, the meat was un-eatable, as it was so chewy and very gristly. I ate the rest but I basically paid £9 for a pitta which was half soggy from the oil fat of the meat and the chilli sauce, two slices of tomato, a bunch of lettuce and a few strands of onion. I will not be going back ever again.

Pizza arrived with toppings missing. When I called to complain they blatantly lied to me and wouldn’t send a replacement. Definitely will not be ordering from this place again

Went in on Tuesday 2nd May and had without doubt the best doner kebab in ages! The guy behind the counter was very polite and helpful really happy with the service and food was banging

Disgusting. Had a pizza and chicken wings. Didn't even finish it. Soaking with oil and sloppy. Will happily starve next time.

45 minutes late on delivery. Found a bone in my chicken kebab.

The members of staff behind the counter were laughing at my sister when she placed her order, I found this completely disrespectful, unprofessional and inappropriate. I shall not be placing an order with them again.

Had 3 orders - 2 delivered and then one Collected. Always fresh and salad good ( we do order at 8pm not 2am!) We have no complaints!

The best chicken, Doner kebab i had ever had. Everything was perfect. Salad - crisp Chips - crisp and fluffy and hot Pitta bread - perfectly done with a crisp layer Doner and chicken both perfectly cooked. The reason for a 4 is for the delay in arriving but the the food was an easy 5 star! Definitely worth the wait.

Delivery driver was incredibly rude. Tried to pick a fight with my partner because a call did not go through and voicemail could not be accessed. It is not that hard to find where we lived anyway because our place was the only building with a light turned on. Reported to management and they said they will talk to the driver but honestly I have never known a driver so rude and eagar to pick a fight with customers. He needs more than a "talking to", he should not be working in a people-interactive job. No refund or better solution offered. My food (mixed kebab) was dripping with grease, tastless and cold so I could not eat much of it. My partners donner kebab was better but not great. Not worth the money at all and I will not use this kebab shop again.

I haven’t been able to fault the food but the staff and delivery staff are very rude! Very long waits for delivery so we order in good time and don’t chase it up or you’ll get shouted at. If you’re really lucky they will put the phone down on you. Whoever owns this should deliver a bit of customer service training!

Great takeaway food, good price. If you want a cheeky pizza delivered that's freshly made and over-fill you, this is a good place. The chips are great, too. I'll definitely order from here again. Delivery time was spot-on.

Walked in there and just asked for cheesy chips gentleman said £4 then boss said £5 even those £4 was steep but the Chinese got them for £2.90 around the corner😂

Tried this place tonight as I'd heard good things wish id have read some reviews, 1 of the kebabs wanted no salad but they didnt give any salad for all three, theres no customer service when we called they said they dont speak english ... toffee pie was just a weird no flavour cheesecake. Wont be ordering again.

We ordered two pizzas to be delivered to the Premier Inn in Norwich this evening 25/11/20. Both were superb - tasty, fresh ingredients on a good crusty base. We couldn't fault them... and free delivery too. What's not to like? Well done!

Just ordered pizza and cheesy garlic bread. Best pizza I've had for a while and garlic bread perfect. Highly recommend.

Wow the best authentic pizzas in Norwich made by genuine Italians. Cheaper than pizza express etc. and twice as big & great side salads. We always have to take half our pizzas home for lunch the next day. Yum. Well worth the short walk from the city along Dereham Road, Just past Tesco's metro. It's a relatively new business, so please support it. With the "Fat Cat" real ale pub round the corner (winner of best pub Uk numerous time) what more do you need for a perfect evening out.

Food's okay, though I've noticed always a little under done but definitely *appears* to be the cleanest and best kept kebab shop on Prince of Wales. I'd rather wait another couple of minutes and have a better cooked pizza or slightly crispier chips or doner meat than shave off a couple of minutes and not cook so well! Service always a bit odd—the guys mumble to one another in another language at the same time as talking to their customers and it's often not clear if they're talking to each another or to their customers or, perhaps worse, *about* their customers! Certainly one never feels like a particularly welcome visitor to their establishment! Still, I'll be back, as their Doner Special pizza is delitious!

I have never seen such a small pot of garlic sauce, it might only be 50p but its the stingiest pot of sauce ever. The burger is disappointing too, barely any sauce on it either, and their idea of salad is just lettuce! No onion, no tomatoe, just cheap skates. Never ordering from there again

Have never had a bad takeaway from here, the guys are always lovely and the food is better than any takeaway on prince of wales, burgers always taste like a freshly cleaned charcoal grill 👌

The driver was ace, so is Olive generally. It's Just Eat, that's the problem. No obvious way to tip the drivers online.

Rang up ordered a decent bit of food said 45 min wait over hour goes by so decide to ring says oh my delivery guy stopped by police not my problem try to ring back no answer 1st time tried to use this kebab and never again can see why there rating is awful awful service and by looks of it awful food good job did not turn up.

Very disappointed indeed, it took over two hours to arrive and was completely cold, they had missed the chips off the order and the drink wasn't ever the discribed size. It looks as though their service has deteriorated over the last year. Not somewhere I would recommend using!

The Olive Tree used to be excellent for food and I have ordered from it countless times over the years (both deliveries and walk-in). Unfortunately as many other reviewers have noted in recent months there has been a huge change (I assume new ownership?). We ordered food, paid for it online and received both the payment confirmation email from PayPal and the order receipt email from their website. We waited 2 hours before calling to be casually told that their website doesn't send orders through to them due to a technical issue and we need to give them the order over the phone along with forwarding the emails to prove we've paid for it. This was a £55 order and when the food did eventually arrive nearly 3 hours from first ordering online we were missing one of the items. One of our group called and was abruptly told on the phone that it wasn't on the order (it literally was listed on the payment receipt email we forwarded to them, which we told them) and that they wouldn't refund the money nor send us the missing item. They also told us they had no manager there when we asked to speak to one. So all in all, 3 hour wait for food, nothing extra thrown in to apologise and we paid for an item on the order that never arrived and was never refunded. Needless to say we won't be ordering from here ever again and from the other recent reviews on the internet it seems this experience is now typical for the Olive Tree. Clearly they must be getting enough business from Prince of Wales partygoers that they no longer care about service or long-term regular customers.

Just ordered delivery through deliveroo. Got a call from olive tree saying they don’t have the dessert we ordered or any desserts at all for that matter. We asked what we can swap it for and the guy on the phone didn’t really explain anything or give us any options. So we just said two cans of coke, which ended up costing less than what we had paid. Food has arrived and burger is disappointing and garlic bread completely burnt. Won’t be ordering again. Oh well.

Service was poor - Our order through their website was not received resulting in a 2.5 hour wait for food. Some or our order was also missing and after calling they refused to refund or deliver the rest. Would not recommend.

Shockingly bad service and attitude to customers when they missed ordered item

Terrible service - we ordered from their website and received confirmation order. 2 hours later when we phoned them to ask where the food was, they said there was a technical problem meaning they didn't receive orders from their website. Our money had already been taken at this point. They then dispatched our order and an item was missing. When we phoned up to get this resolved they refused to admit it had been on the order (it definitely was, and we had forwarded them the order email) and they refused to refund the money. Spectacularly bad customer service.

Ok place to get a Kebab and probably the cleanest establishment on the prince of wales road. Food is good and service is quick.

If you’re still grimacing about a pizza two days later then I reckon it’s bad. Processed cubed chicken atop raw peppers with a bland bbq sauce. The base was crispy round the edge and undercooked and doughy underneath. Onions were nice though. Two stars rather than one as my bottle of water was nice and cold.

I asked for a large kebab meat, which for £5:95 you'd think would be a large tray. What actually happened is that I was presented with a pitta with meat in it. When I pointed in out, the fella simply emptied the meat into a small carton. I spoke up and got a little more, but it was a total rip-off. The server was well surly about it when I was polite as anything. Rubbish. Avoid.

Food and service has gotten steadily worse over the last few months. We are regular customers - or, we were. Missing items, long delivery times, cold food. Tonight was the crowning achievement - ordered online with conformation email. But food did not show. It took multiple phone calls, and three and a half hours from order to delivery to get a result. Was told on one phone call that we couldn't have phoned them before - we must have phoned another restaurant ! Funny how our handset redial proved that wrong ... When the order arrived eventually it had missing items and cold food. Awful service.

Olive Tree is so much more than a kebab shop, it's a beautiful oasis of goodness and delicious food in the midst of Prince of Wales Road. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and I miss it terribly whenever I'm not in Norwich. No other kebab shop can compete, seriously. I recommend the chicken shish kebab with all the salad and garlic mayo (go LARGE it's worth it). The salad is always nice and fresh and the garlic mayo is just perfect (they do a lot of other sauces too if you don't like that). I seriously don't know why this place isn't rated higher. I wish it was open for lunch lol I'd be here every day. It's the only thing worth going to Prince of Wales road for. The staff are nice and very patient, and the food is delicious. Garlic cheese bread is also amazing (the pizza base on and the normal one) but 100% get the chicken shish kebab it is not to be missed. Chips and that are all ok, the pizzas are actually very nice if that's more your scene. They have a lot of variety on their menu including plenty of vegetarian options. Also they deliver to your door (if you live in Norwich) which is a big plus. I can't rave about this place enough it's just amazing and I'm hungry now from writing this.

Not being a Prince of Wales clubber I would happily walk distance for the pizza at olive tree but sadly it's gone downhill. No flavour, poor quality ingredients and awful bases. The kebabs weren't up to scratch either. Would have been happier with a frozen meal.

Ingredients were not on the pizza to what they describe. Food was cold. If you want a pizza got to dominos. Not very pleasant to eat.

Ordered our food online came within time given although chicken burger was missing called straight away to be told sorry ones now on its way......45min later no burger so we ring to be told it's coming but we are lying it was there. Bad customer service will not be using again!

The best kebab and pizza shop in Norwich. Hands down. I recommend the Italian Job - bolognaise pizza. SO GOOD.

This is the only place I would buy from on Prince of Wales Road. If you walk down there in the daytime you will see what it is really like. BUT this is so clean and the food is lovely. Also very reasonably priced and they do deliver.

Literally worst kebab shop. Service with no smile. I can in front of me they fried fry already fried before God knows how long ago it was already fried. Fry was oily and crispy with just oil stays in mouth like having oily crisps as no starch left after double frying. Burger was OKAY. won't reckon anyone to visit this place...

Visited this spot last night around 11pm after a long trip. The place is small but the attendants are nice and supporting if youre not too familiar with the menu. Prices are fair and affordable and dishes are quite generous. I will definitively go again!

Don't bother! Order elsewhere..George is the rudest person! As regular customers we were surprised by his attitude and rudeness. It's a shame as the majority of staff we've encountered have been nice.

Not the kind of place I usually visit but must admit I was full with the big fry up I was served. The disappointment came from the "home made" baked beans once they reached our table after a long wait. The service was poor but the atmosphere was great. It felt more like somebody's private place more than a proper restaurant.

Ordered from here before and been lovely until tonight. Ordered 3 doner kebabs, the nicest thing was the garlic mayo. Doner overcooked and like carboard. Pitta so overdone! Called to complain, will try better next time I order...Mmm I'm hungry now and will try better next time I don't think that's good enough! Very disappointed.

As a fan of a good fry-up, my partner and I decided to come here for breakfast and unfortunately arrived at 12:05, 5 minutes after breakfast was done being served. Despite this, the kitchen was kind enough to make an exception for us as proceeded to cook us what I can only describe as the best fry-up I have ever had.The service was prompt, despite them being overloaded with customers. Our food was brought to the table after a short time, and everything was cooked to perfection.The bacon was crispy and of a high quality and taste, the sausage was delicious, scrambled eggs perfectly seasoned, home made beans to die for, and the bubble and squeek "patty" a welcome new addition to the norm.Overall a great experience, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to nurse a hangover!

My son recommended the restaurant and I must give him the credit for his recommendation the cooked breakfast that my partner and my son had looked very good and apparently it was extremely tasty, myself, I had the porridge with spiced apple compote and a jug of cream. The food and the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed and very comfortable

Excellent pizza, tasted so much better then the branded competitor I had a cheesecake slice which was still frozen, luckily this is exactly how I like it and was also very tasty

After a night out in Norwich with family & friends & several drinks, we stopped at the olive tree to get a late snack before returning to the hotel,On the Sunday morning I realised I'd lost my handbag, containing everything except the kitchen sink..Didn't think I'd ever see it again, but the very honest staff at the olive tree handed it into the police station, I really can't thank you enough, I've never been so pleased, a "massive thank you" x

Pros: Very clean, friendly counter staff.Con: The doner kebab was absolutely wretched. I love me late night fast food but this was something else. Tip: Try something else on the menu.
