Cheap beer, good laughs, amazing oatcakes.

Just been for sunday lunch, we drive past often and thought it was about time we tried it. They were only offering beef sunday lunch but went out of their way to make sausages for our kids. Kids of course on seeing our amazing yorkshire puds (they were amazing and worth it for them alone) decided the they wanted most of ours 🤣 so much lovely veg, with an extra portion on the side including cauliflower cheese as well as the veg and roast potatoes and mash on our plates. Lovely owners and food, highly recommended.

Excellent food, and by that I mean top quality, that chef can cook... Perfect every time.

Just came off the M6 to find somewhere to eat and stumbled across this pub. Really glad we did, the Sunday roast was excellent. It defeated both of us! Would definitely recommend to anyone else, and next time we're travelling that way needing food we'll be back.

We went to the Railway Inn for a change as we usually go to the Gresley Arms, close by. Big mistake. The bar maid was unfriendly and virtually did not speak. Not a word- no "what can I get you" no nothing. I had to ask how much our drinks were £5.40 for half a soda and lime and a pint of bitter, which seemed a bit pricey. Bar maid gave me my 10p change, no thank you, nothing. We will stick with the Gresley Arms in future. You get a warm welcome and friendly staff at the bar...

Had a lovely meal, everything was freshly cooked, can highly recommend the hunters chicken. The staff were very pleasant and even put extra coal on the fire for us...it was a cold day but we soon warmed up. Will definitely be going vack soon.

Friendly place, I love the pie's and homemade oatcakes, I purchased some pie's and a bag of Oatcakes from there small in pub shop.

Went to the Railway for breakfast, just to see what it was like. Had a warm welcome and sat with our backs to a lovely coal fire (This was on a cold, windy and wet Feb day). I had the mini breakfast which was excellent; easily enough to keep me going for most of the day. Will certainly be returning.

Great value and a nice welcome.

After hearing an advert on HitMix radio we decided to see if there had been any improvements from when we last visited as we heard there had been a change of landlord/lady. We met the barmaid and the new cook : seems like they are on the right track. Pound meals reintroduced on Wednesday from 5pm : just buy a drink. And a new menu generally. Fixtures and fittings need updating but definitely better than the last time we were there......will definitely go back.

Brilliant value Wednesday£1 meals. Lots of choice and home made meals. Friendly and efficient staff in a cosy surrounding. Well worth a visit.

Hi Craig Jackson here! Great pub. Good bap's not has good as the shop but crunchy. I wish I was on the dart's team, but I throw with my teeth. So probably wouldn't be accepted. They have a coal bunker, but no coal?
