This was open only to residents when we were there (and resident). The staff made a big effort to serve us well, despite the restrictions

If what you want is good food at sensible prices then this is the place to eat. Breakfast was superb big pot of coffee and a full English. Dinner was very tasty with wonderful wines and to top all of this the rooms are great

The food here would sit will on tables in an quality restaurant in London, Birmingham or Manchester etc. I had Ham Hock Tourine, followed by the softest Belly Pork you could wish for followed by Malvern Pudding ( a first). Whoever the chef is they need to keep him.

We stayed at The Abbey Hotel for 2 nights, BB&EM. Our first visit to the restaurant was for an evening meal, the only negative point which was rectified after I complained was that the White wine I ordered was at room temperature. Initially the waitress brought Ice cubes to put in the wine but I asked for it to be replaced. Another bottle was brought which was cold and enjoyable. I received an apology from the restaurant manager. All of our meals were most enjoyable and served on piping hot plates. There were a couple of supplements to pay for on one or two mains and desserts. All the staff we met were polite and focused on providing good service to everyone. The restaurant manager in particular was very efficient, nothing was too much trouble for him. He always checked our meals were okay. Breakfast was buffet style, ‘help yourself’ again all served on piping hot plates. There were also pastries, cereal, fruit and much more if you didn’t require a cooked breakfast. In particular I did enjoy the Thai style fish cake starter and the Belly Pork main at dinner. I would definitely eat here again.

Disappointing dining room, menu good, service good but Formica table and no table cloths. Although the food was lovely, the room let it down.

We enjoyed a lovely theatre stay at the Abbey Hotel, we enjoyed good cocktails in the bar, afternoon tea in the bar, a good breakfast in the Abbey View restaurant. Choice of cerials, limited range of fresh fruits, cheese, only one cold meat, excellent , croissants continental or full english together with kippers or other variants. The dreaded toast carosel was suprisingly efficient. Plenty of fresh tea or coffee. The rooms here are really nice and spacious and we would definitely visit again.

We had travelled to Malvern with friends for the weekend. We ate elsewhere on the Friday evening but had breakfasts and an evening meal in the Priory Restaurant. The breakfast food was very nice but only warm, which we did mention to the staff on the Sunday morning. The evening meal started off well with very nice starters, on the mains, one of our friends sent his vegetables back as they were lukewarm, as were mine. Desserts were mediocre, one arriving a long time after the others.

Very comfortable rooms and a wonderful bar with magnificent surroundings. The staff were very friendly and helpful as well, it is everything a top hotel should be. We had a set menu which was excellent 12 people and no complaints at all. The wine was reasonable too. I would visit with the family no problem. Genuinely a nice place

The hotel is geared up to taking in large parties, I.E. Wedding parties etc; the ballroom where we had our new years eve celebration sat 300 and the staff were able to cope, they were mainly immigrants but all spoke very good English and were polite, attentative and kept busy.

I dined in the Priory View Restaurant several times during my stay in Great Malvern. Breakfast was average with typical buffet offerings available. Eggs, sausages, bacon, toast, cold cereal, fruit, beans, and tomatoes. I also dined here twice on average fare for dinner - nothing wrong with the food - just not very interesting. The best starter I had between the two evenings was a salmon pate served with toasted bread - good, but without very imaginative presentation. See my photo, and you'll see what I mean. Service was ok. But standards aren't set very high.

As we were staying at the Abbey Hotel and as it was a special time for us, we contemplated staying in and dining at The Priory View Restaurant.( Note the Restaurant is named for the view of the neighbouring Priory Church - the clue is in the name - which is not an Abbey as is oft claimed. The Hotel is on Abbey Road, hence the name of the Hotel). However the clamour and disruption of some (coach ?) parties at Breakfast and other disapointments made us inclined to dine elsewhere and prompted us to meet with the Manager and discuss matters. He was courteous and helpful and it was agreed we would dine that night. The Manager personally sorted out a booking. When we went that evening they had reserved our prefered table quietly situated with the view over the Priory. Service was good as was the food and drink. Seared scallops on Palma Ham for starters followed by Fish (the bones came away cleanly, a good indication of careful preparation and cooking) and a mild spiced Chiken Dish - also well cooked ( though for me there was too much rice and of the wrong type). Desserts of Cheesecake were fine. A good meal well presented and well served. We dined there August 7th and we are glad we did.

Twelve of us booked here for a celebratory lunch. It was the Sunday roast, a carvery. Help-yourself starters were very unimaginative, but there were some nice prawns, and we could fill up our plates.Choice of roast pork or roast beef, with good selection of vegetables. The pork was delicious, but the beef was tough, tasteless, and overcooked. Desserts were, again, unimaginative. However, good value. We were given a separate room, lovely serving staff, and we all had a good time. Not at all expensive. So, good for a large gathering, maybe not for an intimate meal.Stayed overnight at the hotel, no complaints at all.Beautiful surroundings, and the Abbey next door is a treasure.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights, on the second night we decided to eat at the hotel. It was a good choice as there was a special three course menu for less than £20. Not many in the restaurant but the waiter was very attentive.

Our name wasn't on the restaurant list although we were booked in for an evening meal. We had lovely views of the priory from where we were sitting. Food was very good both at the evening meal and breakfast, the menu was the same on both nights of our stay which was a bit disappointing. Service was very slick which added to the rather unfriendly feel of the hotel, great for business users but lacked warmth for an intimate meal for two.

As our restaurants of choice were shut on Mondays we thought we'd try the Abbey Hotel restaurant for a pre-theatre dinner. The restaurant was very quiet but we were dining at 6pm. Charming waitress showed us to our table & brought us a lovely fresh bread roll to eat while we perused the menu. The menu is not extensive & is totally geared to residents who have booked dinner, bed & breakfast so we were slightly thrown by all the 'supplements' after the prices. Having queried the strange pricing with the waitress my husband chose smoked salmon with potato salad, while I opted for wild mushrooms, which were served in a little pastry case. Both very tasty but the pastry was too hard to eat with a knife & fork! To follow we had red mullet on ratatouille, which was a very small serving of fish on a dish full of chopped vegetable in too much sauce; and pan-fried salmon with new potatoes & 'seasonal' vegetables - this was fried or roasted carrots & parsnips, the whole thing was running in butter & oil. With 2 glasses of very nice Sauvignon Blanc it came to just over £56. Not expensive but not outstandingly impressive either. It doesn't hold a candle to other restaurants we have used in Malvern.

It's always difficult finding somewhere between Christmas and New Year and our normal choice in Malvern was closed. We found the Priory View very good with a warm welcome and excellent food and service at a reasonable price. I think our usual choice will now be second choice when we visit the theatre in Malvern.

A colleague and I stayed at the Abbey Hotel for one night and decided to use their restaurant despite it being empty at almost 7pm (by the time we left there were a few more diners but it was still fairly quiet) - don't let this put you off! The meal was fantastic, I had a sirloin steak which was tasty, tender and cooked to absolute perfection. The presentation was fantastic - the wedges were stacked like Jenga and everything else looked wonderful. The wine list isn't particularly extensive but we picked a bottle of lovely smooth red (a cabernet sauvignon from the South of France, I can't remember the name). Desserts were equally delicious and beautifully presented on slates with your usual 'cheffy' drizzling of sauce. The service was excellent and our waitress was professional yet friendly when we engaged with her. We then retired for cocktails in the bar upstairs feeling full and content, I would happily return to this restaurant if I'm in the area again.

We stayed at The Abbey Hotel on a package and had dinner included on the first night which was a Friday. The set menu in the restaurant was £19.50 for three courses. We booked for 6pm when they opened and were the only ones in the restaurant for the length of our meal. We sat by the window and it was a little cool. With the restaurant being so quiet we were wondering what the food would be like. We need not have been concerned. The food was excellent and really beautifully presented. The service was great. We may well eat in there again tomorrow night!
