Really disappointed on this visit. No gluten free cake or anything else. Drinks served in paper cups and no plate given for my fellow customer's tray bake. The cafe felt like a poor standard station cafe with all of the atmosphere, it felt like everyone was waiting t be somewhere else. Shall not be visiting again under any circumsatnces.

Lovely staff, very friendly. I understand the idea behind the paper cups, plates and disposable cutlery but it would be so much nicer with china and real cutlery although there did not seem to be a sink for washing dishes. The scones were fine but hard to work with using wooden knife. Also the display shelves were a bit empty, it would benefit from have some more stock, people would come for refreshments and look at the goods on offer and maybe buy. Just an observation for a new business.

Tried The Potting Shed yesterday for the first time. It’s a relatively new cafe in Peebles and I would recommend giving it a try. We had a lovely slice of carrot cake and a delicious cup of coffee at a very reasonable price. The menu is not extensive but coffee and a cake was what we were after so was fine for us. The two young women working there were very pleasant and welcoming. The surroundings were very pleasant and there were various items such as soap and candles as well as home made fudge for sale. I hope that the Potting Shed will become an established favourite in Peebles as they develop their business. I will have no hesitation in returning next time we are in Peebles.

I visited here recently while waiting for a booking at a nearby hotel. I was with my wife and a friend and we found The Potting Shed to be a welcoming establishment on a cold day. I had a peppermint tea while my wife and our friend shared a slice of cake to go with their hot drinks. We enjoyed our visit and would return.

Mackays was absolutely the best fish and chips I had tasted in years. The portions were very generous, and the menu was surprisingly wide-ranging too.

The food is the best Indian food I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a few! Fresh and delicious and reasonably priced. The waiting staff are a little reserved but it was outweighed by the quality of the food. We were served in good time. No desserts on offer though.
