Went for my birthday meal, 4 adults and 2 young children. The service was great, the food was delicious, it was reasonably priced and it was a pleasant atmosphere. They were very attentive and we look forward to going back!

Not your usual thai restaurant but food is great and worth the drive

Always a couple of good, interesting beers on hand pump and superb Thai cooking. Folk music and dancing from time to time. Pleasant garden to sit in when weather allows.

The rarest and truly the best of local pubs with excellent Thai food, full of character and characters…. If you want to enjoy traditional Thai food in a small local pub, accepting all its quirky aspects and limitations then this is your kind of place. The beer is great too!

Thai food within a very traditional pub building. Service very good and food tasty , large portions. Lacks atmosphere with only 2 tables taken and no other customers. Appears most people come for a takeaway which I think is probably your better bet. Very good value !!

Hidden gem Terrific local with a good crowd, good food, footie & rugby on the go and the best smoking shelter on the planet with a first class wood burning stove newly installed. Highly recommended.😊

Love this place for a Thai meal

If you love Thai food you won’t be disappointed! For starters we had the chicken satay and spring rolls. So very tasty and the the spring rolls weren’t at all greasy! Delightful is the word. For mains we had the chicken green curry and pad Thai. Both were lovely. We would return without a doubt. Surroundings are not typically Thai because it’s a traditional English pub, but that doesn’t spoil the experience, the barman is Thai so I imagine the chef/cook is also but cannot confirm. Recommend to Thai food lovers!

Really enjoyed the place. Visited with friend for a business lunch and was not disappointed. Cracking real ale with a Thai twist. Really enjoyed the satay chicken starter and panang chicken main. Chillies grown in the garden, mega spice in the main, thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely return.

Absolute gem of a pub with amazing traditional Thai food. Delicious and great value for money. Very friendly staff too. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We enjoyed our meals ❣️🙏 Good portions and tasty flavors.. We had mixed appetizers to start .. chicken satay, spring rolls, calamari, fish cake.. n Tom yum soup.. Then we had Thai jasmine tea and ginger tea ... N following mains 22 with pork, beef salad from Thai specials, and Thai special fried rice N for dessert we tried sticky rice and banana n coconut cream. Thanks for the meal 🤗

A nice old pub, with lots of old things preserved. The man who served us was a bit curt and surly, and not very welcoming. By contrast, the lady who I presume co-owns the place was very friendly. The food was OK but not great. Chicken satay starter was nice, but my chicken Pad Thai tasted a bit odd and had hardly any chicken. The desserts were nice: bananas in cream, and rice in cream. It was OK, but nothing to write home about. It gets busy, and gets fully booked, and I was recommended to come here by a happy customer, but I don’t think I’ll personally be back.

We had an amazing Sunday lunch at the lovely garden. The lovely lady/owner is super friendly as always! They have some authentic dishes like steam cod with coconut milk. Thank you and we'll be back soon! 😊

A great evening out nice place for a quiet drink and good atmosphere.

A great small pub which serves lovely homely Thai food. The building is a little tired but the friendly staff and great food more than make up for it.

We ate here last night. The pub was lively with plenty of people drinking at the bar and there's a few tables for people to sit down and eat. We had good service which was very speedy and the food was tasty too In the pictures are the pad see eaw and the stir fried chilli oil. We can also recommend the golden bags starter which we loved and the sticky rice dessert. Lovely and so reasonably priced!

Great Thai food evening with friends.

First time here as on a mini break with my boyfriend, walked over an hour to get here and I've never had a more unwelcoming experience. Stated online dog friendly but wasn't, not a problem we sat outside but the service of the staff behind the bar was rude and impolite, had one drink and left. Won't be returning.

What a lovely pub with great Thai food we have in our village. Its great to eat there but you can have the same food to takeaway as well as we often do.

Had lunch there on a Sunday. Was quiet but great food and service. Fresh and tasty and great value. Had the Somtham salad and a chicken and veg stir fry. All very nicely presented and very tasty. Just the correct amount of heat too.

This was my third or fourth visit in the short time since I moved into the village. I know The Plough from 30+ years ago. I have very fond memories of it and it is a joy to see how much of its character as a much loved village pub has been preserved. And then there’s the food: it’s delicious and incredibly good value. The service is charming, cheerful and friendly. And there is still room for locals to have a pint without impacting the diners - or vice versa. A gem of a pub.

A lively local with great ( well kept, well priced ) beer, very good Thai food and a lovely country pub feel. My dad loves it here and wants to go here every time he visits.

Good old fashioned village pub that Serves excellent very tasty Thai food , Good sized portions with affordable prices. Will be going back . Highly recommended

Outrageously good Thai food in a quiet village pub.

Quirky old pub. Mismatched cutlery and crockery but this is not a fine dining restaurant so it doesn’t matter. The food we ordered was absolutely amazing, starters and main course cooked freshly. The flavours were wonderful. The kitchen and bar staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were here on a few days away but were we local we would be very much regulars here. You can eat in or take away. Highly recommended.

Nice Thai food and very reasonably priced. We was very happy with all the dishes we ordered and they were full of flavour.

Had a takeaway and it's safe to say this was the worst Thai food I have ever experienced. I had beef and garlic on a bed of leeks and the beef was grey and had no Thai flavours at all. the mixed starter was clearly not home made just freezer to fryer. No satay sauce for chicken satay just watery chilli dip. overall a poor experience and not worth the 40 odd quid.

This was recommended to us when visiting the area and we were able to walk to it for our meal. The owner knows everything about the menu and was able to advise what to have. Sophisticated it isn't, but if quaint, old world charm and authentic Thai is your thing give it a go. It was delicious.

Pleasantly surprised. Lovely home cooked Thai food at decent price. Thai side salad was spicy and delicious. If you eat Thai food often then this place likely won't blow you away, but definitely good value for money. Has outside seating in a garden

Visited for the first time in over 18 months just over a week ago. 2 couples. And the food and beer was excellent. And value for money as good as ever.

Well-kept beer, home-cooked Thai food and a spacious garden make this one of the best pubs in Ely. This is a deservedly popular family-run pub.

Stopped at the Plough mid way on a walk from Ely. Thought we'd missed our chance as we arrived after 2pm but the kitchen was very happy to stay open for us. Fortunately for us they'd run out of sandwiches, which is what we would probably have settled for, instead we had a couple of fantastic Thai dishes which were really tasty. The staff were really friendly & the prices were good too!

A nice place, great food, a good selection of sales and friendly staff. All will organised for outside dining in this covid era.

The staff are always so friendly and accomodating and the food is the best thai food that you'll get in the Ely area. Nice size beer garden and dog/child friendly. Only minor critisism is that there is a limited choice of draught ales/ciders as the focus is more on the food.

Four of stayed at the nearby Wood Fen in the Sedge Lodge. On our last evening we decided to visit this pub for dinner , this is not walking distance from where we stayed so we had a nominated driver. We arrived and was shown to our table in the restaurant by Jamie , he worked so hard all evening serving at the bar and being waiter for the diners. He was very polite and didn't appear to get flustered at all, well done Jamie. Our food was freshly cooked ,the prawn sizzling dish with noodles and vegetables with sweet chilli sauce was excellent and I had a cheese board for dessert which was very good, not many places seem to do a cheese board now days. If we were in the area again would certainly return to the Plough.

Popped in for a quick drink in the garden after a dog walk. Friendly and efficient service but did not find the surroundings very pleasant. Did well in the current conditions but wouldn't go back just for a drink although would be happy to try the food if in he area again.

Great Thai food reasonably priced. Good real ale. All served outside in the garden in disposable containers. Friendly landlord and locals. A very pleasant experience in these strange times.

Booked a table for 7 on arrival tables were not ready when l asked we we could sit at tables for 4 l asked for another table landlord banged a small round table down for us. When l said it wasn't big enough for 3 to eat round he then went and got a bigger one banging and throwing it about. What a very rude and unpleasant man. The food was excellent though.

What a wonderful establishment. If you like Thai food and a cosy, no frills friendly pub then this is the place. Lots of friendly locals and extensive Thai menu. The food served had very fresh ingredients and portion sizes generous. We will be back. Can’t rate highly enough.

Such a lovely little traditional pub. For a Monday night, the place was filled with lovely friendly locals, all willing to have a natter. So much choice on the menu... the food was excellently cooked by a lovely Thai family. Thai is my favourite cuisine, and it was lovely to be able to enjoy not far from home. A real gem of a find and we will definitely be returning. They also offer a takeaway service.

Excellent food, good choice of beers.

the duck and chicken dishes had good portions of each and lovely special rice. They made room for us on a busy Friday evening. The ceilings are low which adds to the atmosphere. The real ales are kept in great condition and they change the variety of beers regularly. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Their Thai food is great! I always go there when I need a scrumptious meal.

Great traditional pub mainly given over to an excellent Thai restaurant. Really superb food at a really great price. Used it a fair amount in the past but just gets better and better

After waiting for roudy crowd of football fans to leave eventually got seated. Seating so restricted that everyone passing the table constantly knocking into me. Had a nice meal. Reasonably priced. But the landlord's comment " I hope you aren't doing a runner because I have cameras" when we had already paid and left a tip !!!! The food doesn't compensate for his insulting, uninformed remarks. After 40 years of patronage I won't be returning.

Peter and Wasana have been serving amazing food and drink for years now. Whether you eat in or take away the food is fantastic. Always a pleasure and always a great meal.

It seems that great Thai food is served here.We did not try it however.We just stopped there while cycling in the area.Beer offer is rather limited.It would be nice if they relied a bit more on the very interesting beers currently brewed in Cambridgeshire.The place doesn’t seem to have changed too much since 1975.Some will love that. Some less.Nothing wrong with this place, really.Nice to know it.

Delicious Thai food in a friendly small old pub...will go back

Whilst staying in oxloade near little downham. Stumbled on the plough,we love a real pub l. This hit the spot, its rustic and real, beer kept well, and landlord very friendly. The food is Thai and authentic cooked on site and really tasty. Large portions, good choice, no english food on menu. Opens at 6pm and was quite busy on a thursday night.. .So good went to eat there twice. Kept its old feel dont be put off by its exterior its a true pub ,saved from extinsion.extinction.

Food and staff attention but what they were but the place is for sale so.....that's probably why.

The Plough is a family run pub with the addition of serving Fantastic Authentic Thai food. The landlord , Pete , generally has something funny to share and makes for a very friendly atmosphere. The Thai food is absolutely Fantastic, the portion sizes are plenty big enough and the quality is 100%, the menu is full of great choices and very reasonably priced. Freshly prepared, cooked and served with a big Thai smile. It would be advisable to book , as there is limited dining space available, Take-away is also an option. On our many trips to The Plough we have never been disappointed. Pete and the rest of the family “carry on the good work!”

We love this both as a pub and as a restaurant. The service is friendly, the beers in good condition and delicious food. This is very much a family run pub with authentic Thai food cooked to order. Really well worth a visit.

What a great way to save a village pub! Keeping all the old atmosphere - village pics - original furniture and with locals propping up the bar! Real ale served but also a great Thai menu - dishes served quickly with a smile - we loved it!!

Great authentic food & very affordable prices

Thea Plough is a great quirky village pub where the locals drink and people visit to eat the amazing Thai food prepared by the landlords wife and family. Outside you may be lucky enough to see Morris dancing. Peter the landlord is a charming man full of fun and my friends and I have spent some some wonderful evenings there most recently a birthday which he helped to make special for us. The food has been wonderful each time and great value for money.

Food is delicious, great atmosphere in this pub, I have been 4 times now and I just love the place, The Landlord Peter is friendly, his wife does all the cooking, a family run pub.

Great food and service: a real gem

We were staying in the village & this unassuming pub was literally just across the road. We phoned to book as it looked quite a small place, it was a gd job we did as the place was lively & busy when we arrived at 7pm.

Best Thai around, this is a quaint old English pub with real ales and an amazing authentic Thai kitchen. The fishcakes are superb and the food is always so good. There's a nice weekend spot in the garden out back for summer evenings as well as outdoor seating to the front. This is the perfect place to cycle in from Ely, refuel and it's mostly downhill on the way back. Take cash or cheque as they don't have card facilities.

Excellent Thai Food and tremendous value for money. Four people two courses 3 pints and 4 x 187ml wines £60. But ignore the surroundings and service a real locals drinking pub with limited seating for eating. Definitely book in advance. We will return

Really excellent Thai Food. An extensive menu and all freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Plenty of variety if seafood, chicken, duck, veggie. The pub itself is very much a locals pub and quite dated but it depends what you are going for. A warm welcome by the locals? Not particularly. A really excellent and modestly priced Thai meal? Definitely.
