The Pavilion in Maldon

Booked a table for a meeting with colleagues to turn up and find out that it was closed. Embarrassing but thankfully remedied by a neighbour restaurant.

Fab. Went with friends for quick lunch, ended up staying four hours. Great little place. Very polite, and quick service.

Had a lovely meal here on a Friday evening. Food was amazing, service was friendly and attentive . We had starters and mains including the soup of the day, baked camembert. Mains included a large portion of fish and chips, cajun burger and I had chicken supreme with risotto, all of which thoroughly enjoyed. No pressure to eat quickly and get you out of the restaurant. Will definitely return.

Our family of 4 adults and 2 young children went to this restaurant on Christmas Day today. We waited over 3 hours for a main course Christmas dinner. Then as a non meat eater of over 30 years I was served pork stuffing!!!! We asked for another dinner. Another diner slapped my daughter across the face!!) police were called by me. My daughter is now in A&E as in shock!!!! The owner has blocked me on Facebook!!!! Plus refunded me £580.00 for the lunch. I would never recommend this restaurant!!!!! They believe non meat eaters can eat meat!!!!

We had a excellent Christmas lunch food was great and service was excellent it was a shame that 2 ladies who was there were abusing staff and using faul language and also abusive and pushing a elderly ladie nearly over because she ask them to stop swearing shameful behaviour and then if you look at her plate below on her comments she had eaten most of her lunch just didn't want to pay her bill shameful of you have more respect for your elders

Awful place Service is so slow food took so long to come potatoes were hard and dry only 4 small potatoes on Christmas Day , was truly awful Food poor

Lovely venue but was let down by slow service and food was not up to usual standard. Took about 45 mins to get food. Chips over cooked. Roll for burger had freezer burn. After plates cleared were given menus for desserts but we gave up waiting for order to be taken after 45 mins wait. Seemed like only 1 member of staff wooking, he was very friendly, but failed at doing his job properly.

Took my family for a Sunday roast and couldn't rate this restaurant higher, waitresses were amazing, food was incredible. Ylli (owner) was very upbeat and welcoming. Well done New Pavilion.

Absolutely beautiful roast dinner, taken my leftovers home for this evening. Food was delicious, ambience was great. Service was brilliant and everyone working was so welcoming. Service was very poor had to wait 1 hour for food. Continuing chasing Management not interested got a very low key sorry when we left. Fish was great but would advise NOT choosing a roast past 5pm as it clearly had been sitting on a hot plate causing the veg to be overcooked and potatoes like bullets. Will NOT be returning ☹️

We went there to meet family for a meal on Sunday early evening. The waitress was disinterested, we had to ask for a menu, there was no non alco beer, we had to chance the food several times, the two of us that had lamb sent it back as it was running with blood! The potato’s were rock hard. I can honestly say it was the worst roast dinner I have ever had. There was zero customer service, no care. nothing! Don’t go there!

We booked here for the first time and was really pleased we did! The Sunday roast was delicious ( and I am very fussy about my Sunday roasts 😄). We couldn't fault the service and it's a nice venue. Would highly recommend.

We come to Maldon fairly regularly and occasionally stay over. The New Pavilion is was one of our favourite go to restaurants. We arrived at 7:30, as booked, and were very happy to see the front restaurant full except for our table for two. We ordered drinks at the bar and sat at our table. Maybe we should have been more aware of the situation when, after about 15 minutes, we had to tell the staff we were now ready to order. The young waitress was very apologetic and we said it was no problem, not her fault as she was doing two jobs waitressing and covering the bar as the barman had literally disappeared and was occasionally seen serving an old meal. Now we were waiting. 40 minutes? During this time we noticed a number of people shaking their heads at the staff. People walking out after questioning the service and the delay. The poor waitress, we could literally hear her in the back room crying. When our starters came we cancelled our main courses. My wife said my baked Camembert looked like a crème brûlée. I did eat it though and pay for it. I was not going to put the waitress through any more stress. I spoke to the barman as we were leaving and he seemed very surprised that I mentioned the overload of work the waitress was doing covering both jobs. He never said what he was doing during his absence. I did say that as he was obviously not the owner it was probably not his fault as well. All the tables in our corner agreed with what I told the bar manager and we’re about to leave without food. I will be very interested to see the owners reply and any excuse he comes up with. There’s no excuse. Get more staff. Hopefully the waitress has walked across the road to a top restaurant that treat their staff better. She was brilliant and deserved better treatment.

Impromptu mid afternoon visit to eat. Relatively quiet but we had good service, we selected the 5 tapas dishes for £30 and made our selection. Once arrived, the dishes were well presented and were generous in size. All tasted great and we didn’t leave anything. Certainly very good value , I would recommend.

Just had another lovely lunch here, I had the burger the other 2 had the prawn crayfish salad and the squid linguine. Everything was very tasty and good portions. Been here a few times now and can't fault the place. In my opinion one of the best restaurants in and around maldon

We three thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday Lunch at this friendly restaurant. We all had the roast beef and I can honestly say it was one of the best 'roasts' I have had. The vegetable were fresh, the roasties delicious and the roast beef was excellent. The puddings were also first class. The young staff were friendly and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending this small establishment. Reasonable prices too.
