By far the nicest fish and chips deliverd hot and fresh crispy batter on the fish arrives in boxes so not soggy at all delivery is very quick wpuld not go anywhere else for fish and chips

Very disappointing. I’ve used this delivery service numerous times. Delivered incomplete order. Couldn’t get through on the phone. Seems the business is over stretching itself and no longer able to deliver a good service anymore.

I went to this chips shop the other week after moving away 12 months ago this used to be my local for 20 years! It really gone down hill the chips was dry and fryed up from lunch time tasting like they been heated up a few times very off putting on this occasion this was 445 pm after reopening up but never tasted chips so awful!

And what can I say nothing has changed still useless service and my family left hungry due to getting our order wrong tried it first time had a bad experience gave it another chance if anything got worse will not be trying again And to top it of when I rang them to explain that they messed up our order they said a refund would be sent out with the delivery driver but no delivery driver or refund made an appearance total shambles

Decided to give these guys a go recently despite having a really good one near us, as we remembered they used to be really good. I ordered online and specified “well done chips” in the comments box relating to the chips. It then said it would be ready in 45mins?! As I was outside I just went in and they said no, that was not the case and it would be just 5 minutes?! Glad I didn’t wait! I also checked they had seen the request for well done chips which they had. I then watched as the young lad proceeded to dish out a portion of chips from the normal chip thing. They clearly hadn’t bothered to cook some any further for us, if they can’t be bothered to do it I would rather they were upfront and just admitted it and I would have gone to our regular, which I then actually did on the way home to get some more chips cooked as we like them. Most of the others went in the bin and the fish wasn’t much better, very soggy/greasy in places. Very disappointed and won’t risk going again. I guess that’s what you get from a place seemingly run by lazy teenagers…

We had Fish and Chips and Mushy Peas from the Nippy Chippy last night they were amazing, no grease, a very light batter, truly delicious.

We collected 4 Fish and Chips tonight and a curry sauce and have to say it was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious!!!

Ordered on the app, I got there and paid for my food . Waited for about 25 minutes for my food and people who waited after me got theirs first which is bs. They’ve got kids running the place which is bloody ridiculous. They got my order wrong , meant have battered sausage only got normal , missing my drinks. They were acting like they were really busy , it was only a few customers at the time . If they want to run about and act busy work at maccies. It’s a shower of crap and needs new mature workers not kids who are clueless and stand around doing nothing . Bag of crap.

We So enjoyed our meal tonight. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection. Well done it was lovely.

After a spell with different staff when the food went downhill this place is back to its former glory! Huge portions of brilliant fish and chips and super-speedy home delivery.

Everytime I go back home from work I see that the nippy chippy is always really busy! Every single day you see a lot of people there. So my husband and I decided to buy their fish and chips and it was delicious! The fish was huge!! It wasn't oily and it was really tasty! The chips with salt and vinegar were great too. Definitely buying their fish and chips again.

Great fish and chips. Great batter for the haddock. The service is good, just pre-order and it’s ready when you get there

whilst staying at the travel lodge stonehouse,we tried the Nippy Chippy and so glad we did.The portions were large and cooked to perfection,best fish & chips we have had,so recommend this highly.

After my last review about the Nippy Chippy saying it was awful now the original owners are back and thing's are back to normal they have regained the #1 spot and again serve the best Fish & Chips in the area.

by far the fresh fish and chips in Gloucester for our usual Saturday night take away and he does a good kebab you get hugh portions and a bonus they deliver

For a temporary period, following my review, the proprietor changed hands. Unfortunately, standards ll and customgers noticed this. Well, as ] stated in a previous review, . 'I would return ', an I am so pleased that ' we ' did. It was grea t to know that THE NIPPY CHIPPY IS TOP OF THE FISH AND CHIP CHARTS Don 't forget FRIDAY 7th JUNE, 2019 National FISH & CHIPS DAY. Pedí mi comida por teléfono y cuando llegó, fue incorrecta porque faltaba 1 papas grandes. Como tardé tanto en llegar, me conformé con tener porciones más pequeñas. La comida era buena y caliente, es una pena que aumentaran el orden

The dream team are back, serving excellent food👍. When everyone panicked in the snow they still offered delivery and an option of getting any supplies from the shop next door.as an extra Best chippy in the shire for sure , snow or no snow. 💙

Es una pena porque normalmente las patatas fritas son deliciosas. No pude enfrentarlos después de ver eso y me fui. ¡No volveré a comer desde aquí!

Nuestra primera visita a NC anoche para comprar Haddock, bacalao y chips grandes. La orden se tomó rápidamente, el pescado se cocinó fresco y rápido, el personal fue amable a pesar de estar ocupado y el precio fue entusiasta, pero el trato real fue comerlo todo en casa. El batido y las papas fritas eran crujientes, calientes y no grasientos, el pescado era excelente. ¡Excepcional!

Well ordered large fish and chip and got a large fish hardly any chip first bad point also ordered chips curry sauce and got a 20 minute wait without any pre warning before hand was not a good thing especially when I had a baby asleep in the car and just wanted a quick stop off also to see the waiters - server just stood behind counter pretty much living the dream not even worrying about it in fact not even telling the person cooking to put a piece of fish on for 5 minute after I've been stood there waiting is pretty much useless I shall never go there again or will I ever really recommend it to any one ever 0 star

The chicken goujons were amazing large pieces of chicken breasts in lovely spicy breadcrumbs with a choice of dips My wife had a massive sausage which she really enjoyed and we both had chips which were nice and big portions The staff were friendly and polite will deffo go back when in area again

the best fish and chips in Gloucestershire am a returning customer would highly recommend crispy battered fish very fresh hugh portions the chips are not soggy husband enjoys the kebabs especially the chilli sauce and the delivery service is spot on

What was once the best fish & chips in the area now is the worst since changing ownership the chips are made from poor quality potatoes with brown and black bits in them and my Haddock today was fried so long the batter was inedible because it was so hard and the fish inside was so dry and could not prise it from the batter so it went in the bin. Avoid as I will be in the future please come back original owners and put things right.

never thought I would review a kebab from a chip shop well arrived along with great fish and chips as always bonus they deliver the kebab was hot tasty and a fresh salad along with warm and crisp pitta as we asked for it to be done separately excellent food great delivery the best for miles

Visited 29 Dec. Ordered Haddock and Chips. Fish fryer fooling around for 5 mins then told me they had run out of Haddock because of big order earlier on. Why did he not tell me straight away?

Excellent fish and chips friendly service they also serve burgers kebabs and chicken but I have not tried them

The office like their “fat Fridays” I can ring and order to collect in 10 mins. Staff are great. We were worried after the change over but all is good. Well done guys keep it up

This small fish and chip shop situated at 29 Gloucester Road, Stonehouse, Stroud,is on the main road coming from Gloucester towards Stroud. ( on the left hand side ). For those who have a car and are passing through Stonehouse, simply enter POSTCODE GL10 2NZ into their GPS SAT NAV and this will take you to the door. There is a small lay-bye outside the shop for cars to stop and get their fish and chips and other foods and soft drinks.

We have some excellent Fish & Chip shops around our home area but none can beat this excellent Nippy Chippy. We stopped while we were visiting the area , parking was easy, on street & the meal was absolutely 1st class. Beautiful , large cod cooked to perfection served in light,tasty & super crisp batter with plenty of `real` chips in which you could taste the potato in (makes a change) again cooked to perfection.We both decided on the cod from an excellent choice of alternatives Can highly recommend this super Chippy.

Tried all the fish and chip shops around locally to see what they were like having always used the Frying Machine previously. The Nippy Chippy was good, but the fish and chips were much more greasy. The chips weren't as crispy either and you couldn't taste the potato in them. They also do much smaller portions, and they are served in styrofoam trays rather than wrapped in paper so not very eco-friendly.

The fish from here is always to a great standard. Tasty and good portion size. Chips are generally good but now and again can be soggy. I spoke to staff and they were more than happy to put right and replace my meal. Staff are friendly and helpful and I would recommend a visit if your ever passing

We keep going back to this chippy. The food is freshly cooked and you can phone ahead to order or wait on the shop. Sensible prices. Large size portions certainly live up to their name!

I use this fish and chip shop when we have a takeaway treat every few weeks,prices reasonable and friendly staff :)

Visited here on the way back from the local Woolpack pub whilst visiting my sister and her partner in Stonehouse. Interesting name for a chip shop, but names aside, it was a pleasant experience.The portions are pretty big and the chips tasted great. I even tried the deep fried Mars Bar, which is something I have always wanted to try. Very odd taste but thank you for giving me the opportunity to try it!Staff were reasonably friendly, but it is clear that they were very busy taking orders on a Saturday night. Will probably visit again seeming it is very local to my sister's house!

Came here for years now, had gone to the other ones in the two but rather found those ones upsetting my stomach or awfully expensive compared to the portion. Nippy chippy gives you amazing portions and good prices, and for a small place has such a wide range of food on offer. Even deliver to your house which is great. Best place for quick food in the area would rather order one of these to my house than any takeaway service as well ! Staff are great and will continue to come here

Went here with a mate and continue to keep going back, they do brilliant chips and everything is brilliant for value. I would recommend the chippy to anyone.

well put it this way, me and the lads pulled up to the nippy chippy expecting an average at best fish and chip expieriance. we were pleasently surprised. the decoration is excelent and they even have a stonehouse youth footy club shirt hanging on the wall!!! and the chips! PHWOOOAAAAARRRR! never have i EVER HAD A FISH AS JUICY AND TENDER AS THAT SUPPLIED AT THE NIPPY CHIPPY! if you dont like this place, your probably deluded. GOOD JOB LADS KEEP THE STELLAR WORK UP!! ME AND THE BOYS PLAN OUR PLUMBING WORK DO TO BE HERE NOW!!!

This has to be the best chip shop in the area, portions are generous and very tasty, wouldn't go anywhere else

The fish is superb here the batter is so light its lovely and the chips are good too, very generous portions and as it says on the tin nippy service, well recommended, we tried it as it was recommended to us.

Lovely take away with friendly staff, fish and chips are very nice and you get a big portion, lots to choose from, from fish,chips, burgers and kebabs would recommend a visit

The fish and chips at this place are lovely. Fresh tasting with light batter. I really enjoyed our meal from here and I usually think that fish and chips smell better than they taste... not in this case. Nothing short of divine, definitely try this place, I can recommend the haddock. The children's fish and chips was a perfect portion for my 11 year old and with a free drink as well. The staff were really helpful and friendly and we had a minimal wait even though they were packed. You won't be disappointed!

The staff are totally rude and not helpful at all.We ordered fish and chips with curry sauce, they didn't send the curry sauce. We asked to get new food with curry sauce, this took over an hour to come (who wants fish and chips without curry sauce?) today we have tried to order food again and they've refused because we complained about our order last time....which THEY messed up. Don't go here, they are rude and nasty.

I have eaten many meals of our traditional 'fish and chips' in my lifetime, but I have never tasted 'fish and chips' as nice as what I have eaten from 'The Nippy Chippy ' at Stonehouse, Gloucester. I first found out about 'The Nippy Chippy ' in May, 2015, and have been back there a number of times since. Despite there being other fish and chip shops quite near to where I live, I travel over 6 miles to this fish and chip shop, where I know I am guaranteed first class quality fish and chips which is well worth travelling the distance for.Of the many number of times I have since returned to 'The Nippy Chippy ', not once have I been disappointed. The quality of the fish (Cod or Haddock) is first class, and the portion sizes of a large fish and chips is well above that of what I have experienced anywhere else. Every fish I have ordered and eaten, has been of pure white flesh, very moist and I have failed to find a single bone within it. The batter is lightly coated , crispy and a light golden brown in colour. It has been consistently freshly cooked/deep fried each time, whilst I have visited. There is a very short wait, but well worth waiting for. The chips are of good quality potatoes and come out of the deep fryer range a nice crispy golden brown colour, and not greasy. The portion of chips are considerable. The overall value is excellent. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and often very busy due to the popularity of this small fish and chip shop.The number of first class ( five point ) reviews given to 'The Nippy Chippy' fish and chip shop at Stonehouse, I would endorse as being very much true and well earned; and in my opinion, I fail to see any reason as to why anyone would be dissatisfied with the quality or quantity served for such a reasonable price. Very expensive for very little An order for 10 people nobody liked the quality, I ordered chicken shish kebab large, was only 5 pieces of chicken, lettuce and onion and mayonnaise, £5,50 the other also, the fish was cold, and had no fries, they were not nice, not offered any soda, or a discount, don't put plastic cutlery or napkins. We never order anything again

We've been going to the Nippy since we moved to Stonehouse 12 years ago. The place is spotlessly clean, the food is always good quality, the staff are polite and friendly and they'll deliver locally.They currently refurbishing, can't wait to see what's new. And the shop next door is equally as welcoming and does some good deals on wine.

Fish and Chips at THE NIPPY CHIPPY, 29 Gloucester Road, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, has to be the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. I have visited numerous fish and chip shops in the UK., whether I be at home or on holiday. Buying fish and chips at the seaside harbours can be very tasty, and knowing that the fish is freshly caught and brought ashore by trawlers, usually on the same day.However, found THE NIPPY CHIPPY approximately two months ago on the Gloucester Road between Gloucester and Stroud. It's only a small shop on the left hand side of the road, as you travel from Gloucester and enter Stonehouse. It has a lay bye outside the shop where you can pull in with your car, and park up. The fish and chip shop is right in front of you. It is the first time I had seen or known of this little fish and chip shop, and I was surprised by the number of customers entering and leaving having bought their fish and chips. It was a quick turnabout with not too long to wait. I thought, obviously a very popular shop and so I decided to try some fish and chips.The fish fryer - young man was non stop deep frying fish and chips, whilst other staff were constantly serving the customers. I placed my order and waited a few minutes whilst I saw the fish fryer placing my order of cod in to fry, and see it coming out of the fryer in a nice golden brown crispy batter of thin coating. I was amazed to see the size of the fish, and without exaggerating I can only describe it as being a 'huge' portion, far larger than any fish I had been served with at any fish shop. Next came the serving of chips, which they too had only just finished deep frying. The turnover of customers were so many, that everyone knew that their fish and chips were cooked there and then in front of their very eyes, which is not the case in all fish and chip shops, where the fish has been in the 'range' hot cabinet waiting to be chosen and sold.. The fresh portions of fish and chips in quantity, was 'ENOUGH TO FEED THE FIVE THOUSAND' as the saying goes, and whosoever bought a portion of fish and chips from THE NIPPY CHIPPY, surely could never go hungry.Then came the eating of them as I sat in the car outside in the lay bye. The quality was superb. The fish within the thin battered covering was of the best light golden brown crispy batter I had tasted. The fish itself was of a pure white meat throughout, and not a single bone could be found in it. It was a thick portion and so succulent, and not dry in any way. The chips were well done and also of a nice golden colour. The meal was absolutely delicious, and as stated, I had never ever tasted fish and chips like it. The Nippy Chippy was of excellent value, so much so, that it has become a magnet when I fancy a meal of fish and chips. I would recommend to anyone passing through Gloucestershire en-route to or passing through Stonehouse, to stop at The Nippy Chippy for some fish and chips. I feel sure they will not be disappointed.

Great service. A very very popular chippy. They do huge portions at incredibly good value. The nicest chicken kebab I or my husband, have ever had!

We have recently moved to stonehouse and was advised this was the best fish and chip shop locally and after eating it I totally agree. The batter is light with and crispy and the chips delicious.. I recommended it to family in Ebley and they also love it:))))
