Used to be the best Chinese in the area. Will never eat from there again while the current chef is there. Hardly any plum sauce on duck and lots of fat. Singapore noodles had hardly any meat and no prawns. It really was very unpleasant.

I can honestly say the food reviews on here don’t do this place justice The last few times I’ve had a late takeaway from here The food has been on point Fresh cooked and delicious I’ve used this as a regular takeaway fir the past 20 years But the food has got better Quick device and always delicious I understand the staff issues may have caused delays But definitely worth the wait Support local buisness .

The most disgusting Chinese we've ever had! Neither of us managed to eat even half of our portions. Even crackers were horrible!

28 unanswered calls to the restaurant. An hour after expected delivery time, we drove to the restaurant to complain. The girl said she was rushed off her feet, but was outside smoking a cigarette with no customers. She said our food was out for delivery and if we wanted a freebie for driving down that we had to be quick as her manager wasn’t there. We drove back and still no delivery. Had an update from Just Eat, saying there has been a delay with delivery. We waited until the new estimated arrival time. Once that had passed I contact just eat to request a refund. The restaurant’s response was that the driver was stuck in heavy traffic…..for an hour and a half?? When we drove to the restaurant and back ourselves within 20 minutes. Food finally arrived, with the driver trying to deliver to a different house!! It was freezing when we tried to eat it. Absolutely disgusting food, abysmal customer service and we will never be ordering from there again!!!!

Ordered food at 7:30pm and received it at 9:30pm. I called at 8:30pm to ask where our delivery was and I was told the order slip had been misplaced and they were cooking it straight away. I asked for some prawn crackers as compensation and was told this was no problem. It arrived an hour later with no prawn crackers. The ribs were inedible and the chips looked like they had been re-cooked several times and were dry. The curry was lumpy and the rest of the food was less than average. I tried to call back twice to complain and they didn't even have the decency to answer the phone. Poor service and poor food.

The king prawn chow mein was a disgrace to Chinese cuisine. Beef with green peppers in black bean sauce was amazingly ok. Spring rolls have an oily taste… Prawn crackers are off, thin and quite oily.

Inedible and cold. Mouldy and smelt really off. Went in the bin. Place should be closed down. No refund and £40 down the drain. Attitude on them is awful. Avoid like the plague. Eat at your own risk. And as for service lol incompetent staff and management that hide when there's a complaints. Robbing money off people for inedible cold gone off food

Terrible meal last night.order placed 5.50 and received meal at 8.10. Chips were cold and dry .every thing else was cold and tasteless .very disappointed with paying £40

Ordered this food from just eat and I must say it was appalling to say the least. The chicken balls were bitter as were the prawn toasts, the fat used to fry them clearly hadn’t been changed. Half the order was missing and when we tried to phone the line was constantly engaged. I will never use this place again !!! The standard of the food was shocking I may as well of taken my £30 and thrown it out on the street……complete and utter rubbish and a total waste of money

Not had any issue's from here before but tonight items were missing from the order and the poppadoms were stale. Rang to question the missing items and was informed that they would be sent out. Half hour later another delivery arrived only to find that we were still missing 2 items! Probably best to avoid on a busy Saturday night after a Wales rugby win!

Pure rubbish ordered food, all wrong orders and not answering the phone to us, disgusting service never order from here !!

Terrible food, cancelled orders. Don't give them your hard earned. Much better in Bridgend than this shower

Food not as good as it once was and getting more expensive. Service always friendly but won’t be using it very often with the current chef I’m afraid.

Ordered a takeaway for for of us tonight. It came on time, but thats the only positive. The chicken curry was horrible. The meat was chewy and tasted weird. The crispy beef had more onions than beef in it. The sweet and sour chicken was tasteless. The noodles were cold and the chips were white and pasty looking. You are supposed to get free prawn crackers with a meal over £10 , but we didnt get any. All in all a disappointment.

I have been going to the new red lantern now for years and it's my go to chinese in bridgend. The staff can be quite rude, and so It has got to the point where I never call or order in person I just order through just eat. The food though is always great, always hot, and usually on time unless they are very very busy but then this is advertised on just eat (another reason not to call). I would say some dishes could use a bit of an upgrade but generally you get good food for cheaper than lots of places, and the crispy beef is arguably the best in the area.

I made a phone call to order food for delivery. The girl/woman that answered the phone was very very rude. I asked for a chicken dish, fish dish and two portions of noodles. She called me "mate" about 3 times. Once saying " I don't even know what you are on about , MATE" second time.. "what was that, MATE?" And third time "is that all MATE?". What on earth? I am not her mate, I am a costumer. Didn't know the dishes that I was ordering and when delivered, they were the wrong ones. Food, however, it was nice (regardless the wrong dishes) and the delivery driver was very kind too. Spoiler of the meal? The woman/girl that answered the phone that was very rude and ordered the wrong dishes.

Worst lettuce wraps we've ever had. We paid £9.40 for two pork lettuce wrap starters. Both tubs were literally 75% padded out with some tasteless white 'straw', with only the tiniest portion of the proper pork filling laid over the top of this thick bed of white stuff. Yes, 75%, no exaggeration. We felt totally cheated. We've had lettuce wraps at numerous takeaways elsewhere and all have been filled fairly, with never more than 5 to 10% of this white stuff. What a rip-off. Disgusted and won't be returning.

We placed an order for a takeaway home delivery for our sons birthday. We were given a delivery time and the order arrived 45 minutes late. It was cold with two items missing. I rang to speak to someone and was asked 'what was my problem' . The worst customer service I have ever received and would never order again

Ordered here last night on just eat . Not only did the food take an hour and a half, after a guarantee of 45 minutes but the food itself was bad. One rib cut up in to 5 pieces for £4.70 ?!?! would not be going here again .

We ordered several dishes for three people, including king prawn curry, sweet and sour chicken, pancake rolls, etc. The pancake rolls were the worst that I have ever eaten in my life and I had to throw two away. They just tasted as if the cook's hand had slipped and thrown a whole pot of MSG in. The prawn curry was mainly onion and the sweet and sour chicken was actually sweet and sour pork. Also, everything just seemed greasy. All three of us were disappointed. We threw most of it away - never again.

It was good food and a fair price good staff also fast delivery (when not so busy) good portion sizes and I'd say it's the best chinese in bridgend

We ordered a takeaway and were told 45 minutes to an hour. Not a problem. We were owed a free main dish due to warm food last delivery. After an hour and 45 minutes we were a aired the meal would arrive within minutes we didn't receive our meal. Wouldn't recommend or order ever again

Made an online order. 5 minutes, later received a call from the takeaway and was met with an abrupt and abusive tone from a staff member. They wanted to amend my order. This was fine, the way the woman spoke to me was not.

Ordered from them online. They cancelled the order without explanation five minutes before the agreed delivery time. If their food is anything like their treatment of customers, they're best avoided.

Should have taken on board others comments but away on business, late and hungry. Food tasteless and unfortunately, as with lots of Chinese takeaways, dishes packed full of chunky undercooked vegetables to pad out a dish containing approximately 6 king prawns!!! Plus why give a free poppadom to someone buying Chinese food?

I feel its a shame writting this bad review as i have used this place for a long time & have previously left a great review on here. But the service & food recieved on Saturday was awful. Simple as that. When you ask for an ingredient not to be included there is clearly a reason why, what if the person was alleric to that particular ingredient!!! The woman on the phone claiming that it wasnt wrong and generally belittling and irogant. Food was rock hard, wrong and not very nice. Even the prawn crackers where a weird shade of yellow?! Such a shame as have loved this place for a while, gutted. Maybe worth trying somewhere else :(

Me and my husband used to order from here once a week as a treat but stopped as it started going a bit down hill.

Ordered again from The New Red Lantern after drifting elsewhere for a few weeks, we couldnt find one as nice so ended up back here. Delivery time is fair, drivers nice and the food has always, always been spot on. Best chicken curry around here!!!

Absolutely horrible costomer service person on phone argued with us when we asked why lettuce wrap has no wrap trying to make us feel stupid gave us wrong order first time andhad chips sent to again all tasted bad or off overall crap experience! Would not recomend!

Sunday night me and my girlfriend fancied a Chinese as we haven't had one in a long time. Ordered via JustEat and left short instructions on how to find us as we live in a new build estate. Normally everyone gets lost but not these guys! The delivery guy was dead on time and the food was great. Really tasty and not greasy just really good food. Hoping it is always the case with them to use them as my new local takeaway!

Always order from here via just eat. Never had a bad meal. Food always cooked very well with good flavours and not swimming in oil or that congealed sauce we have sometimes had from other take aways in the area. The salt and chilli king prawn is my favourite dish. Delivery times normally fine and the drivers have always been pleasant.

Had a nice crispy chicken here. Food always nice and hot delivery on time staff friendly. Reasonable prices would definitely recommend

Have used The new red lantern a few times over a period of a few months and havent once had a bad meal! The delivery time is as you would normally expect - drivers have been pleasent enough and food is hot. Price wise is average to most others (£13 for 2 meals delivered) and the food has always been nice. Chicken curry is so nice! The one downside i have to say is we tried to order through justeat once because we had no cash on us and it forgot to add the delivery charge on - no fault of ours- then they asked us to pay the fee on delivery - wed ordered that way because we didnt have cash in the first place?! Anyway it didnt matter in the end,but we dont use justeat if we want to order from here just in case! Other than that nothing really bad to say! Will keep returning for the nice food! I do recomend.

Highly recommended by locals, so I thought I'd give it a try! Food arrived on time and was hot and tasty they did forget a chips but delivered them promptly with a free bottle of coke as compo! Will definitely use again.

Just to let everyone know how appalling the service I've received from this restaurant was...phoned after an hour to find out where my food was to be told it was just being made due to a delay from the JustEat website. An hour later, I was told it had been dispatched to me. When my husband phoned ten minutes later he was told the food was just being made. This was challenged and he was immediately hung up on. After retrying, the receptionist hung up on us a second time. I thought speaking to the manager would resolve this, but low and behold she then hung up on me too! This has to be, without doubt, the worst level of service I've ever experienced. Credit to JustEat, who managed to arrange a refund while another meal was being prepared (by another restaurant obviously!). Avoid this restaurant like the Zika virus!
