Excellent meal last night had fish & chips really hot and plenty full . Great service friendly staff .glad to see it’s getting back to the way we all have enjoyed the new inn for many years .

Excellent lunch , hot , tasty, plentiful . Lovely staff and very good price plus loyalty lunch scheme . Do give them a try , we’ll certainly be back .

Popped in for lunch and was our first visit to this pub. A really lovely meal, tasty and nicely presented. The Lunchtime club menu provided great value for money. Friendly, polite and prompt service in a relaxed environment. The menu provided an excellent range of food including several vegetarian options . Well worth a visit and we shall certainly be going again !

Sorry but NOT VERY GOOD HERE AGAIN . Thought we would give a chance after are last time here . That was a bad ideal . When ordering ours drinks we where told no pimms and lemonade. The kids meal was not worth ordering 1 potatoe 1 slice of beef not much vegetables NOT WORTH THE MONEY £8:95 plus to much gravy on it . My adults meal to small covered in gravy again not worth the money. When ordering a dessert after being told we could have it Then told we can’t. Service was very poor. I have been using the new inn for many years . SORRY VERY DISAPPOINTING

Have been coming to The New Inn for many years. The service today was dreadful. And they weren't busy! Our food took about 45 minutes to arrive. Had to go up to the bar to ask for a dessert. Our dirty dishes were not taken away. A large table near us hadn't had any of its dishes cleared either. The food was okay but nothing special. Mine should have come with salad but didn't. After waiting so long I couldn't be bothered to mention it. Very disappointing. Doubt we will return

Worst service I’ve ever received. Waited 1hr 20mins for our Sunday lunch to arrive, despite asking on 4 occasions how long it would be, and each time being told it is being plated up. The food finally arrived by the manager but surprisingly no apology for the shocking service. The beef and vegetables were extremely undercooked. We ordered dessert when our roast was brought to the table and it still took half an hour for the desert to be brought out. Apple crumble undercook and no ‘crumble’ and 3 scoops of ice cream which arrived completely melted like a smoothie. Took the ‘ice cream’ back to the kitchen to be told there’s an issue with the freezer, again, no apology. Not once did the manager apologise for the extremely poor service to our table or the other 5/6 tables surrounding. To top it off, the table in front of us were served their dessert brought before their main had been plated and served to them! And the table behind us arrived 30 minutes after us but received their roast before us and finished it before ours had arrived. Absolute shambles since it’s been taken over - would NOT recommend.

Had to ask for GF options as not clear on the menu but when I spoke to the staff there are many GF meals . Have GF fryers and no cross contamination. spoke to the chef Sean who again reassured me of the GF options and can adapt many meals to suit. Very accommodating. Lovely mid week meal with friends.

wow - just wow - Sunday lunch here is amazing - all freshly cooked veg, meat ( i had the roast beef) was cooked to perfection - the only thing id say is - needs to make own Yorkshire puddings and it would have been MEGA!! such a real shame that the talent of this chef wasn't appreciated more on the day we were in (11/06/2023) only the 3 of us in for lunch - 3 of us ate - 2x roast chicken and 1 x roast beef - this place is in my list of top 10 for Sunday lunches in south Devon and we will be back!

Weve been to the new inn a few times now and the foods has always been amazing went back and was told it was under management and my what can i say BIG mistake the food was awful and the portions were really small, no more fresh chips they have gone to frozen and the quality of food was very disappointing to what we have had in the past. Looks like this is another pub that's gonna be ruined. After the food we had we won't be going back

We stopped here after driving around trying to find somewhere and almost giving up. Popped in here for a drink and peruse of the menu on the last night of holidays and thought we'd stay. Goodness me. One of the best meals we had in Devon! Huge portions, all fresh and everyone is happy. Quite a feat to keep 4 very different people happy that range from the age of 6 to 41! Thoroughly recommend

booked a table for 4 for the Thursday steak night. 2 steak meals AND a bottle of house wine for under £25 The steak was perfect for all of us plus the trimmings and the wine was lovely.Atmosphere was just right and plenty of room. DEFINITELY GOING BACK. pre book so as not to be disappointed. They do other meal deals on different nights which if this is anything to go buy will satisfy one and all and the lunch deal also looks excellent value

Comimos aquí, personal muy agradable, pero la comida fue bastante terrible. Nuestra hija había elegido el lugar, así que no queríamos molestarla criticando la comida, pero ella también estaba decepcionada. Teníamos hamburguesas; las hamburguesas de ternera eran como versiones baratas de supermercado y mi "hamburguesa" de pollo era de hecho una pechuga de pollo frita. Freír no le hizo ningún favor; estaba seco y coriáceo. Una verdadera lástima, tal vez fue una mala noche.

Mi esposo y yo tuvimos la cena más deliciosa en el New Inn anoche. Comida fantástica y un servicio amable muy agradable. Distanciamiento social en sitio y gel antibacteriano disponible en la entrada. Ambos nos sentimos muy cómodos en el restaurante y felizmente lo visitaremos nuevamente. ¡Bien hecho, Luke y equipo!

Me encanta este pub por comida. He estado aquí bastantes veces ahora y es mi "ir a" por un gran valor, sabroso banquete de almuerzo. El club de almuerzo tiene una excelente relación calidad-precio, es una gran idea y un trato genial. No me puedo quejar de la comida: casera, buena calidad y tamaño de porción decente para la hora del almuerzo. Ganador! !

The New Inn hace un trato a la hora del almuerzo (sin barrera de edad) con un principal a las 7. 95 y 2 cursos para 8. 95 sin reducción en la cantidad. Los cuatro elegimos los champiñones de ajo como entrante seguidos de BBQ Chicken Melt como plato principal. La intención era terminar con un postre fuera del menú, pero ninguno de nosotros tenía espacio para más. El servicio fue tan bueno como todo lo que he experimentado en restaurantes mucho más caros y toda la comida es fresca y preparada a pedido. ¡Probablemente la mejor relación calidad-precio que hemos tenido en un establecimiento para comer!

Eight of us went here today for my mother's 89th birthday. A friend had recommended the place. I'm so glad she did! We all chose a 3 course Sunday lunch and I have to say everything was fabulous! The beef was so tasty and melted in the mouth, vegetables cooked to perfection, and my parents said the lamb was delicious too. There were 3 different starters and 3 puds and we tried all of them between our group. Everything was faultless. On top of excellent food, the service was wonderful as well! All the staff were super attentive and very friendly. I'm so pleased that my mum's birthday treat went so well. Thank you all at the New Inn.We will definitely return !

We were recommended to try this place out for food by friends. I don’t ever leave reviews or make complaints but on this occasion I feel that I needed too after seeing the “rate us on trip advisor sign”.

Reviewed the new in before and I gotta say it's always good...the servers & atmosphere is always pretty chilled, the food is great a comes out pretty quick the menus not huge but what they do they do really well with a good vegitarian/ vegan option. One point book always book ...go try it you won't be disappointed

Fuimos al New Inn para tomar unas copas y una comida y estuvimos muy contentos de haberlo hecho.

Came here for a birthday meal of a good friend of ours . Not been here in years and the decoration is really nice. The doors opening out to the tables and chairs are lovely. The drinks were very reasonable prices. Asked about our table and the lady snapped at me it’s not ready yet , wait until I’ve set it. I was like o k .... just wanted to sit down ! So stood and waited 10 mins for her .., looked at the menu, a bit small, not much choice .. quite expensive. Nothing under £9.50 ,I honestly think that’s a bit expensive for lasagna or chilli! Anyway ordered steak as it was bogof and a bottle of wine for £23.95. When it arrived it looked quite small , the peppercorn sauce was bloody lovely! Ate that then ordered pudding . I finally decided on chocolate brownie and ice cream, again SMALL! But nice enough. I think i’ll come to this restaurant again for lunch but not dinner just not worth the prices.

Comí chile "caliente" con arroz, nachos, crema agria y guacamole. . y fue absolutamente encantador, Clairo comió ensalada de halloumi a la parrilla con miel y le encantó, la pareja comió hamburguesas gourmet, gambas, así que probamos una variedad del menú y todo fue muy bueno, los dos servidores eran geniales, muy educados y muy atentos. estaba impresionado. This place got recommended to us by some family that live in the village - as we were heading out we wanted something quick and easy and saw that fish and chips takeaway was available - we rang to place the order and the girl who I spoke to was extremely rude and refused our order on 5 different times I suggested! No reason or explanation as to why they couldn’t do it!!! Ended up going to a local chippy!!!

Chuffed that my local has started to do fish and chips take away on a Friday evening, however extremely disappointed with being turned away! Only ordered 4 takeaways so wasn’t as if it was a large order. I rang up to place the order and was told there was no time to fit our takeaway order in at all!!!! No apology or reason why! So ended up getting KFC round the corner, at least we didn’t get turned away here!!!!!

The food here is of the highest quality for a public house at reasonable pricing, they also have a lunch club a restricted menu but after the purchase of eight meals you receive one free, the staff are very friendly and efficient, love the place.

We have been to The New Inn several times and have always had excellent meals. It's the place we take friends when they come to visit as we know we will never be disappointed. The Tuesday Fish night and Friday steak night are great value and delicious, also the portions are very generous. The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.

We visited this pub on the off chance having passed by, and decided to pop in for lunch. It was a Sunday so was expecting just a Sunday menu on offer, but was given a Sunday Roast Menu, plus the usual menu. We both decided to go for Roast, there was a choice of 3 meats, plus a vegetarian option also. We were shown to a table for 2 and our drink order was taken just prior to this. Service was very friendly and fairly quick in taking the orders. The pubs atmosphere was very good, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The food arrived and we were presented with a fantastic looking Roast. Tender Beef, Perfect Roast Potatoes, and great vegetables. Food was piping hot and was very fresh. Time for dessert, and a good selection was on offer too. We had the Malteser and Baileys Parfait, and it was fabulous, and looked a popular choice with other diners too. It’s definitely worth a visit if in the area, and it’s refreshing to find a locally run pub with fabulous food, We will definitely return to try the normal food menu soon!

Popped in for lunch today. 8 of us arrived very hungry and left well fed and very happy. All the food was served quickly and was very good.

Always a friendly welcome even when busy, the Sunday Lunch is always good and plentiful . Usually a choice of three meats and plated . Staff friendly and courteous .

I had a fly in my Black Russian was not happy with the managers cocky attitude Also it smelt like an old people’s home The waitress was a nice lady But won’t come here again.

I hadn’t visited in about 5 yrs but was there for a surprise party. We had the Xmas package and truly was wonderful. Hot, tasty delicious. We think about returning soon

Visited on numerous occasions. The food is consistently good, always hot, well presented and plentiful. They do a fabulous two course lunch deal that is great and good value for money. Service is attentive and efficient. Restaurant is clean, comfortable and cosy.

Hadn't been here for a while so decided to try the speciality steak evening on Thursday. Glad we'd booked as there wasn't a spare seat in the house and I'm not surprised. Two steak meals and a bottle of very nice house wine for £23.95 is fantastic value but there was certainly no compromise on the quality - absolutely brilliant.

Took my mother for lunch and the food was great also the staff were very helpful and friendly. Finished off with a lovely coffee, cant wait to go again.

A modern local that does some nice pub food and plenty of it. No separate restaurant so eat in the bar. Not hugely busy- we booked to be sure of a table. Best cheesecake I’ve had in ages. Maybe ever.

I visited the New Inn with a large group. It was a busy night and very warm. The pub has a small seating area outside which has been made very comfortable and has plenty of umbrellas. Large doors open out from the main eating and bar area. We had a large table and had pre-ordered our food. I had the haddock risotto which was dry and lacked flavour. Other people in our group really enjoyed their meals. All the portions were generous. Staff were friendly and attentive.

We were a group of 3 and we were all very happy with our starters and main courses, (we were too full for desserts).

Great Value. We paid a £5 supplement for Vina Maipo And two rump steak dinners £24.95. I have paid £23 for far inferior wines in Exeter.

Today we visited The New Inn for a family get together we were greeted by extremely helpful staff. Our food was really lovely we were a sitting of 12 and it all came out together. We were not rushed through our stay and no pressure put on us . Atmosphere was exactly how we wanted it due to our mother having Dementia the ladies brought out a cake lit with candles and sang Happy Birthday. Overall we shall all definitely visit again well done to all the staff at The New Inn Top marks .

The lunch deal is a limited choice but we always find something to suit us. At £7.95 for a main meal or £8.95 for 2 courses you could be mistaken into thinking quality would be compromised but this is definitely not the case. This is my sixth or seventh visit and each occasion has been excellent.

The food is always excellent, especially the nachos! They do gluten free roasts but shame the menu isn't catered more for gluten free. Ideally the menu should be updated with gf labelling.

Some of us had the steak meal with wine which was excellent, others had the vegetarian lasagne, & ham egg & chips, which were also very good. The service was outstanding & so friendly. We were really well looked after. There are several vegetarian options which is really good, although there didn't appear to be any on the children's menu. Again the staff were very helpful in explaining what vegetarian meals could be offered, it would just be good to see these shown on the childrens' menu. Thanks for a lovely meal!

We stopped here on a whim while visiting Exeter, based on other good reviews. What a lovely place! Bright and welcoming (certainly not old fashioned), not too busy but still obviously very popular with the locals and plenty of chat between them and staff.

We ate the New Inn on Sunday last. Our friends had booked ahead and it's probably advisable, as it was pretty full. When our food arrived I could see why.Although I, along with most of our party chose a roast dinner, it was a cut above the usual offering. Everything was beautifully cooked and not, as is often the case, kept warm under lights for ages. The vegetables were fresh and not mushy and thr lamb generous and succulant. I can thoroughly recommend a visit.

I am such a regular contributor to Tripadvisor and a very regular customer of The New Inn Alphington, Exeter but have omitted to putting a recommendation on! I am now correcting this error! I have visited this pub regularly over the past 2 years and have never been disappointed. The food is always great. Visitors from London have often said they have the best fish and chips here - but fear not - it doesn't matter what you order it is always excellent, hot food comes up hot, always good presentation. The place is always neat, clean and tidy.The staff are always friendly and courteous. The Landlord Luke Crocker runs a great establishment. But be aware - It is always best to book so as not to be disappointed.
