The Mess Cafe in Manchester

This is easily my favourite coffee spot! Such a great atmosphere, amazing coffee and the staff are really friendly and accommodating. The menu is updated regularly with lots of high quality and affordable options. Would definitely recommend!

Another delicious dinnertime treat at The Mess with my sister. I ordered the Halloumi mushrooms, costing £9, & my sister ordered the gyros with steak, at £9.50. We were both impressed with the quality & amount of food. Excellent value for money as usual. We will return to try even more of their tasty treats. The staff are so good! Efficient, friendly & nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for providing such a lovely, welcoming place to catch up & enjoy excellent quality food.

As a mum, The Mess Cafe is by far the winner of local coffee shops for me. Its large space makes it super pram friendly and there's plenty of high chairs available to use. The staff are so kind and accommodating with my little one and always make the time and effort to come and interact with us.

I’ve had my fair share of coffee and this is the best in Manchester. They update the menu regularly and take pride in food presentation. The managers Merlin and Libby are so friendly and fun. I use this as a co-working space as there’s lots of plug sockets and comfy chairs. I go back week on week!!

I popped in here with my sister at dinnertime for a catch up & food. I had the Eggs Benedict & she had the chicken gyros, her favourite. We were both very happy with our food, & our drinks. (Decaffeinated tea & a Latte.) Lovely cafe, serving excellent food at a good price, & served well by friendly staff. There's all you need right there. Go on & visit. You won't be disappointed.

So we turned not really expecting the treat in store. The coffee was great and the food better. I had a Moroccan special, which was plenty good enough for a top restaurant, and my wife had something off the normal menu, which was similar excellent. This is genuinely really good. We shall go out of our way to eat here again.

Fantastic charity supporting the community with delicious coffee! Grocery store that takes waste food from supermarkets and redistributes it to people that need it at amazing value.

Visiting family in Manchester. Went here for lunch. Service was excellent, had a little wait because it was busy. I had a lovely lady who apologized for the wait and took our order. Our food was excellent and plenty of it. A very polite young man brought it out to us. Great prices too. Don't get this service from most places I've been to lately. So thank you. Definitely go back again.

I've visited The Mess cafe both as a customer and also on a volunteering day. Firstly as a customer I'd highly recommend visiting - the building, food and coffee is just as great as any city centre cafe; a real gem in South Manchester! I also came and did some volunteering for the community grocery through my work. What an amazing experience! We had so much fun and the work the grocery do is so valuable to the local community.

Another great visit to Mess cafe. Popular as always. Staff team couldn’t be more helpful and friendly even during a busy lunchtime. Tried the steak ciabatta off the new menu. Stunning !! Bread felt v fresh. Steak was beautifully done. Ordered a mountain of chips with it as well (had to share). Colleague had the mushroom / halloumi eggs - must try that next time !

I went there with one of my friends before work for lunch, and the overall experience was ok we had breakfast ( Avocado toast ) which I didn't really like, the environment was good and welcoming and loved orange juices but personally that toast wasn't really good

Even better than I had hoped. In need of early morning brunch I rocked up at 0800 and was served a magnificent plate of Smashed Avocado alongside a large Americano. Friendly staff and very comfortable seating. Somehow perfectly stylish.

Great coffee, great food and more importantly great people. Our family have been coming here for a while now and we love the atmosphere and community vibe. We would recommend to other families

I decided to take myself for lunch at the Mess Cafe. I love this place and the staff are really friendly & helpful. I had the most amazing sourdough toast, with egg and halloumi. The chilli on it gave it that kick. This alongside a large chai latte. It's a friendly atmosphere and nice and spacious.

Love this place, a friend of mine told me about it so I took some relatives yesterday. What an amazing breakfast we had....very impressed. Plates hot, food hot, good quality produce and beautiful coffee. The staff were so friendly, attentive and the atmosphere had a great communal vibe. We'll certainly be going there again. 👍😊

I don't normally do reviews and set up account just for this review as I don't understand how this could be number 1 on trip adviser.We wasted nearly 2 hours on waiting on our food sending it back waiting then just leaving. We ordered mess burger ,vegan breakfast and chicken gyros. The chicken gyros was lovely however my friend had a long brown hair through her burger it was actually through the meat also the vegan breakfast on the hash brown there was clearly egg yoke on the underside .when we tried to complain the staff member couldn't speak English. I was absolutely embarrassed would not recommend this place at all.it was chaotic and poor quality
