After a long country walk what better place to visit for a drink and a warm in this beautiful country pub.

Lovely little pub in the middle of nowhere. It's actually in Billinge but very well hidden down side roads. Service with a smile, we were well looked after by bar staff and they had a good choice of beers and ales. Nice beer garden and a very large beer shed with memorabilia and six airplane seats, never seen them in a pub before.

Doesn't do food but has excellent real ales. Bit old fashioned but quirky with good atmosphere.

Went to watch Liverpool v Man City on their big screen TV, great atmosphere, intelligent crowd, excellent price's for drinks, all round great traditional pub well worth a visit

Cosy old world pub with real fire and extended undercover areas outside. Thursday afternoon is folk group session with musicians playing traditional music

Relaxing atmosphere, sunny beer garden, interesting outside shelters and great beer. Plus the show the football and rugby. Food is limited to snacks but you can take in your own.

Hands down the best smoking area of any pub in the Northwest!

Good pub for a pint but they dont serve food. Small car park but you can park on the road outside.

A hidden gem near to Billinge this pub is a true traditional alehouse. Always a great selection of cask ales being served and the legendary Birchalls pies offered on a Friday. The pub is unspoilt with rugby league memorabilia adorning the walls. The outside area is vast with picturesque views across the fields. The staff are a very friendly and welcoming bunch and the prices reasonable. This pub is dog friendly, walkers and cyclists often call in for refreshments. Overall this pub is well worth a visit 10/10

This is a pub. No food served. A real genuin pub, run by the same family for generations.

Fantastic village local. Lovely bar area with a good selection of ale. Friendly locals and helpful behind the bar too. Popular with walkers and dog friendly. Memorabilia relating to St Helens rugby and the local area on display.Lovely beer garden with two sheltered lodges one has a wood burner. It’s not on the main road but it’s well worth finding. Very highly recommended 5 star pub. 🍻 🍺 🐶 🔥

Nice, hidden,well maintained, little local gem

hidden away and hard to find if you're not a local, but it remains a very popular pub because of its cosy atmosphere and excellent beer. Idyllic beer garden and the place is full of character. The real ale selection does tend to be quite conservative but I have never had a bad pint here so who is complaining?

Only there for a little drink before our annual Christmas walk. It's a lovely pub with good real ales and really nice staff. Will definitely visit again.

A great cozy traditional country pub like the hikers pubs in the peak district, lake district & wales. A true hudden gem ideal for a walk up the goyt behind carr mill dam up to crank caverns & billinge hill in the summer evenings.

Before they built the estate. The masons sat in the middle of fields on what was then the main road to Wigan. It’s survived by staying true to its roots. A traditional country pub offering many ales, a real fire when it’s cold enough and a beautiful pub garden that gives the feeling you’re in countryside. In my time it’s never smelled and although the seats have passed their best they’re still comfortable. A great place to meet up with family and friends

Great little village pub in billinge. Excellent beer garden. Polite staff, drinks reasonably priced. Ste's Kitchen cooked a cracking meatball marinara sub which went down well with an ice cold pint. Would recommend.

Masons is a nice pub when sat outside, the views are lovely, and the seating area is nice. Inside is a different story, the chairs are filthy, broken and uncomfortable. The pub smells of strong bleach to cover the dog's smell. It's a good job the pub is quite dark inside coz you'll be able to see just how dirty the chairs are. Maybe it's time to put some money back in the pub.

The drinks were nice, but surprised that unless you had the exact amount of cash to pay for them, you didn't get change!

Great little quirky pub on circular walk around Carr Mill Dam. Slight detour from lake on footpath, well worth it. Nicely kept cask ales, good service.

Lovely friendly pub with a real countryside feel. Friendly staff and a great selection of drinks, including real ales and IPAs. A pub fire to die for, very cosy in the winter. No food served, but you can get pork pies on Fridays which are very tasty. Fantastic place.

Simply the best country pub for me with fantastic selection of real ales... Normally 5 plus ciders and fine continental lagers.

Lovely beer garden, outside seating area under canopy. All covid secure and very polite table service in proper glasses!! Fantastic real ale and selection of largers.... first time here even though lived in garswood all life but will def go again and would recommend. Cant wait to see what inside looks like for cozy, winter drinks.

Rude customers, no hot food available, very anti-child. Might be good for some people but don't go if you have children.
