Been coming here ever since I moved to East London. Amazing place. Amazing people. The best chippy I’ve ever had.

Best chippy out there in London

Not only does this place server good food, it's consistently good food. We have been here many times now and each time is excellent. We have never been disappointed. The fish, sausages, chicken, pies and chips are all delicious. We have other chip shops to choose from in the surrounding area, but will always come back to here because we know it'll be great. Staff are all lovely, service is quick but not rushed, and there's always a laugh to be had in there too. If you're in the area, it's well worth a visit.

Love the fish and chips it’s so good! Surprisingly the fish is big and generous portion of chips. My son and I enjoyed it Very much enjoyed it very much. Definitely will recommend to friends and family.

The Lucas Fish Bar is the best kept secret in London. When my husband and I—as true blue Americans as Walmart—strolled into Lucas Fish Bar for the first time, we were dog tired after a day of travel across Europe. The staff’s kindness was much appreciated and then the food…MAGNIFICENT! Its fish and chips are scrumptious! The cod pieces are massive and cooked to perfection. The crust is just flavorful and thick enough to provide a blanket of golden goodness for the fish without overpowering the fresh wonder of the sea’s treasures. The chips (fries as Yankees like me call them!) are perfectly cut and seasoned. The kind staff (I’d guess they were the definition of Southern hospitality from the good old USA if I didn’t know I was in London!) season the meal to taste and offer ample sauces, utensils, and prompt service. We simply had to go back for a second time before we left the land Princess Harry disgraced. We had an even better experience because we got the LARGE (and I’m talking large and in charge) size fish and chips. The cod was bigger than my eyes when I saw it! The service was exemplary! We even got to try curry sauce for the chips and, let me tell you, my friend, my mouth had more fireworks than the Fourth of July back home. I can’t recommend the Lucas Fish Bar enough. We dined in and felt at home as though honorary Brits grateful for the token of friendship of fish and chips. Thank you, Lucas Fish Bar, for the food, hospitality, and honoring the tradition of the great days of the UK.

What a great family run fish & chip shop. Great cooking , chips are SO good , been twice so far , 1st chef thought my large fish too small so gave me another! This time an extra large Haddock only 50p more It was huge at £9.00 amazing value and fantastic quality. We will be back regularly. Patrick

Great family run businesses can not recommend enough. From the Pie and Mash on Tuesday and Thursday to the flakey fresh fish and amazing whole spit roast chicken. My favourite is the Kentucy chicken pieces.

AMAZING! We were at City London Airport in London. We searched for "fish & chips" on Google. We had some time. We took a bus and went. It's close by. The food is delicious and the owner's kind and friendly service made all the difference. I recommend it to everyone.

I would say it's a tasty fish, but not the best either.

Delicious cod and chips. The fish was so big they had to break it in two to fit in the box! By the time I drove home the chips do get a but soggy, so a quick 4 minute blast in the air fryer gives them that added crunchiness. Best to add salt and vinegar afterwards....

Super friendly staff, very talkative and helpfull, didn't hesitate do explain all the differences between the fish to us when we basically had no clue. Generously served at a good price and incredibly tasty, will be coming back for sure whenever we find ourselves around the excel again!

This chippy is a must-visit. The cod and chips were perfect – flaky fish, crispy batter, and proper thick-cut chips. Friendly staff and lively conversation about world news made it more than just a meal; it was a real London experience. Five stars!

Loved it the service was so friendly and the fish and chips were like just URGGG so good the fish was so crispy and not fatty at all would definitely recommend you get a lot for the fish and chips box for 10,20 definitely a good spot.

First experience of fish and chips came from here as it was close to the ExCeL but most of the places inside it have terrible reviews. Great service, friendly lady on the counter and the food was great. Crisp, tasty cod and a generous amount of soft, well cooked chips. Two boxes and a drink came to just £22. Most places in London charge almost 20 for 1 plate so it's definitely worth it if you're in the area or want to venture out to experience something more authentic. I would just point out that there's nowhere to sit in the store or around it, so you have to walk to the park across the ExCeL to eat comfortably.

Super friendly service. Ordered a bulk office lunch for collection. It was ready on time, piping hot and the Cod&Chips, Pie&Mash&Liquor, Fried Chicken & Chips were top nosh :) Will definitely order again.

Our 1st meal (also 1st time) in London started off GREAT, the fish and chips was good, but more importantly, owner Peter helped us at the next door laundromat as we had a week of dirty clothes to clean. Peter came over several times to make sure we were able to work machines and he also engaged us in good conversation about the UK and his interest in USA.

They don't even look at me for 10 lonh minutes. Don't go there if you are not local they dont serve you.

I ordered Cod and Chips twice I wondered what all the fuss was about by reading the past reviews, And I can say those guys weren't kidding...the taste was out of this world the Chips perfect the Cod perfect the staff perfect, the Price perfect. I wished I'd come here before worth going by car as I'm in Plaistow not that far but there are fish shops nearby but they are not good at all.. Staff so friendly I loved it there A1 Class to this shop..

Avoid!! They never serve you, leave you like a dinlo. Staff make comment and faces at you. Very rude!

Popped in for some chips after a long day at the Excel centre. Was quicker to walk than take the bus. Alas they didn't have any rock that day but the sausage in batter with chips was a decent 2nd prize! Quicker to eat your chips on walk back to Canning Town station rather than wait for bus - the 300 literally goes round the houses / town. If I was back in the area I would come back.

Lived in the area for over 13 years but first time to have fish and chips from this place and I'm glad to say, we will definitely return 👍. Great portions and good food. Service was really nice as well!

I placed a large order in the week as part of a celebration with my work colleagues 🥈🚑. The Staff (Pete and the team) delivered everything I ordered perfectly, they did not miss a single item, and there were lot of them. The food was ready exactly on time, piping hot and the taste, portion size and quality of the food was absolutely spot on, many of my colleagues said it was the best fish and chips that they’d ever had, I have to agree with that, it’s was amazing, Thank you very much for looking us so well, from me personally, and from my colleagues of the London Ambulance Service……….🚑🚑🚑.

£10 minimum card payment is ridiculous. Unable to purchase my dinner this evening due to this will have to avoid now. Backwards thinking. Cash only. U have been warned.

My family (from Nova Scotia) ate here in 2010, it was absolutely brilliant and then we walked to a Hammers game. Great to see this shop is doing so very well and hopefully Peter still runs it

Second night I’ve visited after 16 years since having fish & chips… 1st nite 6 Nov 2023 had Plaice & chips huge portion took two attempts but was amazing along with steak n kidney pie. 10/10 Next night visited for 3x fish dinners 1) Skate & chip 2) Cod & chips 3) Haddock & chips all three patrons said 10/10. Haven't had fish and chips for awhile so decided to try new location and it seems abit rundown from the outside. Freshly fried fish and chips, tried one of their homemade mince beef pie very nice.

Fish was very lovely, crispy batter, fresh and flakey white cod. Good selection of food available. Chips ok. Service needs work, a little slow for a Wednesday evening. Card machine wasn't working either. No local cash points without charge.

Food portion for the price is awesome! Great tasting and freshly made. The staff, especially Peter, were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back any time I visit London.

Supposedly a top rated fish and chips location. Just a hole in the wall. Fish looked delicious but had a bit too much breading. The chips were not as hot as they should have been. No napkins nor forks offered. Would not return.

The best fish and chip shop in this area :) The cod fish and roes taste very good because they are very fresh :) I have been their customer since 2020 when I just moved to this area :) Although moving a couple of places in this area, I still cycle to get cod fish and roes these days :)

Awesome experience. In town for a conference from the United States, and loved this spot. Way better than any of the food near ExCel, and awesome service. Had a great chat with the staff inside while we waited for our Uber! Great food, great experience, definitely will come again next time we are in town

Amazing family owned (since 1932!) fish and chips place! Can’t recommended this place enough! Short stroll from the Excel center and is way better and more inexpensive than any place in the area! Portion size is amazing and will fill anyone and you have to try their onion flavored vinegar. Get some real fresh fish and chips from here you won’t regret it. Real people real food great experience.

They feed my whole school (staff and teachers) excellent service and food. Thursdays pie and mash sublime. Its gorgeous to be done!!!!

Based on a recommendation, we went to this fish and chips bar. The owners are really nice. The chef took us into his kitchen and showed us how he prepares his fish and chips. Everything is handmade and freshly prepared. They do not use frozen products. Accordingly, the fish and chips were fantastic. To all tourists who are in the area, visit this takeaway and support these nice people. We will be back next winter.

Proper British Fish & Chip Shop. Good food, well cooked and plenty of choice

I popped into the Fish Bar for the first time on way to an event at Newham Leisure CENTRE 18/01/23. Ordered Half Roast Chicken and Chips. Chicken was great value (certainly full up afterwards!) and the Chips were awesome, crisp and fluffy potato inside. 10 times better than any chip shop around where I live in Hertfordshire. Keep up the good standards, well done 👏

Excellent food. Cod and chips were tasty and authentic. The cod was thick and meaty and not too much batter. No crusty rolls, but only soft rolls are available. I then asked the owner if he could do anything. He then went out of his way and toasted the rolls instead. Which I thought was exceeding customer expectations. Would definitely come here again. Just two seats and a table. It is more take away then eat in to be honest. Unfortunately, it was so tasty that I could not think of taking an image.

Mrs is pregnant and was craving some authentic fish and chips. We looked online and lucas fish bar had the best reviews and rightly so the fish and chips were made fresh and separate from other foods as we can only eat halal the staff and chef were friendly. The food was delicious. Thanks for a lovely dinner.

Shame they don't deliver, we went here a few years ago and I still remember how great their fish and chips was! We live over the other side of the bridge so tricky to get to without a car, but maybe one day will make the journey again!
