What a disappointment when I asked what time the bar opens I was told “ we don’t have one”!! As I was having food later I could have a bottle on the bill. Potato and leek soup was probably the most watery I’ve ever had and on serving the owner whilst warning me the roll was hot picked it up twice and put it back on the plate. If you read the overview on here it states the best seafood in the world and freshly prepared. I ordered cod and chips and couldn’t eat it. It was taken of the bill. I went to my vehicle @9.30 and the place was locked up with nobody in sight. As a guest you are made to feel like he would be much happier if you weren’t there. I had a double that was a very small double bed with no headboard. The room was in desperate need of maintenance and updating. There is wi fi but a lot of buffering Eggs and bacon at breakfast was ok and possibly the best thing about the whole experience

A complete nightmare. Do not stay here under any circumstances. Sleep under a bush instead. Not fit for human habitation. Hotel is reminiscent of a building in a war zone, including blown out windows. One person is receptionist, cook, barman and chamber-maid, notice I didn't mention cleaner - you get the picture. To add insult to injury we were tricked into paying for 2 nights at check out instead of the one we actually managed to survive. This is a well-rehearsed scam....

Vilken underbar service av personalen och maten var fantastiskt god, det kvittade vilken maträtt vi tog så var vi alla nöjda. Lite slitet hotell men rent.

Lovely meal with good portions. Thai chicken skewers to start were plump and authentic. Scampi fresh, steak pie home made. Meal Thoroughly enjoyed by our whole party.

Bunch of old bikers, so not looking for anything special. This did the trick just fine. Food was excellent, atmosphere was cordial and pleasant. Knowledgeable staff, plus awesome location for some really great biking roads, if you're into that sort of thing. Would recommend.

We stayed here for dinner, bed and breakfast recently and were very disappointed. When we arrived we were surprised at how shabby the exterior of this hotel was and unfortunately parts of the interior were not much better. The windows indoor and out were rotten and many panes of glass were broken. Dinner was ok, though not the most exciting menu I have ever seen. The only room they had left was a twin room and we both found the beds very uncomfortable. In the morning the water for the shower was cold and when this was mentioned to the owner we were told it had never happened before and nobody else had complained of the water being cold. Breakfast was really not impressive with the cereals stacked in round Tupperware containers, bread lying open on a plate to make your own toast which is not very hygienic. The waitress managed to avoid noticing us and we eventually had to ask her to take our order. The cooked breakfast was ok but the room we were eating in was a soulless place again with broken window panes. There was certainly no warm, comfortable feel about this hotel and despite the owner's offer of a free night next time we were in the area because of the cold shower problem, we won't be back.

We were staying in self catering a few miles away and passed the hotel one evening when looking for a restaurant to eat in. It looked closed from the outside and not very inviting but found an open door. The beer was off, the food was mediocre and the restaurant was drab with dark wood walls. The staff were friendly enough but not particularly welcoming.

We were passing through on a road trip to Argyll, stumbled across this little gem! Having read the previous reviews I am puzzled! The food was perfect, really filling and you can tell it's made in the Restaurant's kitchen. Amazing steak - just what was required after a previous night of drinking! Delicious desserts!! The restaurant itself is slightly dated but feels welcoming and relaxed, impressive whisky bar!! I think could be back just for that alone! Friendly staff and very knowledgeable of the area, great for advice on good walks, sights to see. We took a walk down to Lochgair's loch as suggested before our dinner, which was beautiful and we were lucky enough to spot two seals! Seems like a lovely place to stay the night too, you will probably wake up with a hangover though ;). We will be back!!

Une bonne adresse! Un patron trés sympa, un bon restaurant, bons petits déjeuners à volonté et un choix énorme de whisky. Un hotel-étape qui dépanne bien!

We were staying in a local cottage for a holiday and this hotel was listed as having a "must visit restaurant" so we decided to pay a visit for an evening meal. I can only assume that the hotel owner is friends with the cottage provider as the food served was terrible. The place looks very run down with faded painted exterior and cracked window pains. The restaurant is in fact just tables in the bar area and I was literally sat closer to the bar than you could get a bar stool! The menu choice was small with only around 4 choices of starters, mains and puddings I assumed this was to assure fresh ingredients and cooking to order. Oh no, everything just seemed microwaved or stale. Soggy fish batter, burnt lasagne but worst of all when the desert was served it had a raspberry coolie on top which had gone so rancid it tasted like nail varnish remover and was sent straight back to the kitchen. The worst place I have ever eaten. The only positive was the young lady that served us, very chatty and pleasant personality. As buisnesses survive on reputation I think this place needs some serious investment of time and money to have any chance of long term survival. Avoid!

We are locals ,5 mins from the hotel.Today, after a few hours in the garden decided to go for a pint to the above. We went in asked for a drink ,and that was what we got ,no chat at all, infact the person who served us,(the owner i think)did his best to avoid us ,we were made to feel we were just wasting his time being there. This old hotel used to be the life blood of the village, sadly we will avoid it from now on.

Visited this place for a late lunch and wished I hadn't. What a let down and embarassment to tourism in the Loch Lomond area. Problem starts at the entrance, no one to greet or offer seating, two young lads at the bar who made no effort at welcoming. Ordered diluting orange - none avaialable, no mashed potatoes for the haggis, oh, you can have frozen chips instead. Nearly £18 for fish and chips - again, frozen variety. Young server spilled the hot chocolate my grandson ordered and just shrugged his shoulders instead of sorting it out. Tables sticky and steps leading up to the gents toilet, crying out for a clean and fresh paint. For an establishment such as this in a prime location, should be a quality place to visit. Surely, the owner or manager can see what's required. Will be a long time before I visit again - if ever.

Firstly, why close a cafe at 3.30? Secondly, having angry signs which say 'Don't move the furniture' is just not hospitable. Food average, atmosphere, unfriendly, and certainly not welcoming. What a shame, such a great missed opportunity here.

Went here on a Friday in June because everywhere else in town was fully booked. This place only had one customer and 12 tables. Ominous. We ordered some pakora two curries a rice and a nan. The pakora had thick batter round a sliver of chicken, like the worst Chinese sweet and sour. Never had anything like it. Five pounds for three pieces. The chicken makhani was sweet like jam but without much other flavour. The chicken sag was better but still really poor. Each delivery was preceded by a ping indicating the microwave had finished. Nothing was made on the premises. All either fried or microwaved. By the time we had finished the pakora the other customer had left in disgust saying it was the worst Indian he had ever had. Wish we had done the same. It was also quite dear at 12 quid for a curry and 3.5 for rice. Truly awful.

Very long wait. Not great value and not great food. Had been before for lunch a year ago and loved it. This experience was not the same.
