I went up to the pub from where I was staying in Barking due to the good reviews on here for maybe a drink and some food. I looked through the window to see how busy it was and if there were all men patrons, as I don’t feel comfortable in a pub as a solo woman with all men at night. I walked away as I didn’t feel comfortable, and as I was doing so, a woman came out the door and threateningly asked me if I was ‘alright’ and ‘I saw you looking through the windows’ as if that’s a crime. Seemed like a staff member. Utterly horrible behaviour, especially as a woman to another woman. You should be ashamed of yourself. I’ll tell everyone I know in East London to NEVER go here as well as this post. Edit in response to the owner: To tell someone they didn’t see or do something when they did is called gas lighting. You’re digging a bigger hole for yourself. How did you know I came by St Patrick’s Day? Never said which day in my post, so you know exactly who I am and what happened. Complete liars. ‘Family pub’ - please

Popped in for a quick beer - my last visit being more than 40 years ago! Lovely and clean, very nice staff and very very quiet. Brought back so many memories for me from when I was a teenager. Thames View Estate - where the Lighterman pub is based - has changed so much, with football fields vanished, a distant memory from days gone by, the Short Blue pub now gone, replaced by flats, the tower blocks all gone, quite sad to see.

We rocked up after getting stuck north of the Dartford tunnel on the M25 for a few hours, we went in and asked about food and they said the kitchen was closed. But asked us to check the menu anyway, the chef kindly re-opened the kitchen and cooked up some beautiful sandwiches, lasagna and singapore noodles. Really appreciated the hospitality, the pub itself was very clean and nicely decorated. Certainly would go back!

Honestly I don't even know where to begin with this review. As a larger woman it was lovely having a toilet cubicle that I actually fit in without having to do acrobatics and the fact that the establishment provides free sanitary products which I've never seen a pub do before. The bar staff/owners? we're very friendly and accommodating and they served us quite possibly the best Guinness I've had in London ever. My son has Autism and one of the staff members said if the karaoke got too much for him that he was welcome to sit in the back bar where it was quieter as well. Very family friendly with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Will be definitely be coming back to try the food and the other functions.

Came here for the first time as it had been renovated, friendly owners, bar staff, and friendly patrons. Nice new interior, you can even still smell that it’s new which I love. Cheap drinks (including having Inch’s cider on tap, the best cider out there!), some free shots and we loved the hospitality. Yet to try the food however we will be back to try it some time.

The food was very nice here. I really appreciated that a group of men came together and prepared such tasty food. They take pride in their food and it is very clear by the taste. Definitely wouldn't turn down an opportunity to order food from here again.

I had to take my son to West Ham train station, and my wife wanted to join us for the journey. Since it was during the early hours of the morning, we anticipated heavy traffic, which added extra time to our trip. After dropping off my son, we thought it would be a good idea to grab some breakfast. A quick Google search led me to a café with a Turkish name, which immediately caught my attention. Out of curiosity, we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, I noticed that there was limited but available parking right in front of the shop. It required payment via phone or a parking app, so I paid £2.50 for an hour. The café was quiet, so quiet, in fact, that we were the only customers at the time. One of the first things I noticed, as always, was the temperature inside. While it wasn’t freezing, it wasn’t warm enough to feel truly comfortable and relaxed. We quickly browsed the menu and ordered a cheese omelette, a Mediterranean breakfast, and tea. As expected, the tea was served in mugs rather than a traditional teapot, which I find disappointing. It has now become a personal grievance of mine. I strongly prefer my tea served properly in a pot, and I doubt I’ll ever change my mind about it. The omelette was not particularly impressive. One side was overcooked, making it rough and a bit chewy. However, the Turkish sausage was a standout, it was the best I’ve had in a long time. I even asked about the brand, but the staff couldn’t provide an answer. Unlike many Turkish sausages that tend to be overly spicy or heavily garlicky, this one had the perfect balance of flavors. More importantly, it didn’t upset my stomach, which is something I usually struggle with after consuming this type of sausage. As for the Mediterranean breakfast, it was decent but not particularly rich in variety. The feta cheese, which was listed on the menu, turned out to be more like a mozzarella-style cheese, which was a bit of a letdown. The overall cost was reasonable, which is exactly what you’d expect for a casual café like this. The place was clean and tidy, though the toilet’s location was a bit inconvenient. You have to walk some distance to reach it, and the light switch was oddly placed on the wall, making it difficult to find at first, I even had to use my phone’s flashlight to locate it. In my opinion, this café is a decent spot for a casual visit if you happen to be in the area. However, it’s not a place I would go out of my way to visit again. It’s a basic café with a menu that also includes Turkish-style kebabs and other dinner options, but since I didn’t try those, I can’t comment on their quality. Would I recommend it? If you’re nearby and need a quick bite, sure. But if you're looking for a memorable breakfast experience, there are likely better options elsewhere.
