The Lapsi spice Multicuisine Restaurant in Derby

One of the best curry places I have had in the uk. Friendly service, attentive. Food is great. Himalayan lamb , tempura prawns , salt and pepper squid and garlic naan all amazing. A lot more value for money than the surrounding places too… Definitely be back anytime I am in Derby.

The host was amazing, as was the food. Would definitely eat there again.

Lapsi Spice is fairly new, and, with its narrow frontage, a bit of a hidden gem in Derby's Midland Rd/London Rd curry belt. Run by ex-pat Nepalis, it is simply but effectively decorated and has a lovely friendly atmosphere. Prices are a bit higher than the local average, but the food is excellent, and well worth the premium. We will be going back!

Really enjoyed my first visit to Lapsi Spice with my partner. We will definitely be back again. We received a lovely warm welcome and great service from Devi. The food was delicious, I ordered the Himalayan lamb and my partner had the Timur Chicken.

Went to Lapsi Spice for the first time this week and really enjoyed it. Devi was the perfect host & the service was excellent. Great food with the Himalayan lamb and the garlic naan being the standout dishes. I will definitely be returning.

Tasty food but not generous with the tofu and no cashew nuts in thai curry as advertised unfortunately - hopefully they can fix these because there was good service and lovely staff :)

The venue is delightful, the service exemplary, and the cuisine exceptional.

Delicious, authentic food, with none of the usual 'curry house slop' consistency you tend to get from takeaway curry. Fresh, flavourful and with the right amount of spice. Will be ordering again.

If you are Taiwanese and you want to drink a bowl of clear soup that is more in line with our taste, I really recommend you to come here to drink his Thai Tom Yum Soup. I don’t dare to say that it is really Thai, but after he modified it, it will not be so sour or spicy. When we drink it, we will feel like we miss our hometown. I have to say that scones are always delicious, but they really make me feel like I want to go home.

The Chilli Fish and Chicken Momos were amazing 😋.

She recommended and talked me through the different dishes and gave me recommendations based on how I was feeling and other dishes I liked, she also was happy to make accommodations based on my preferences. really interesting menu too.

This place is the absolute definition of a hidden gem. Caught my eye as I was passing and thought I'd give it a try, not expecting it to be the best cuisine I've ever visited. The interior is so cosy, and a lot bigger than you'd expect. The lady serving is one of the loveliest people I've ever spoken to - she gives a genuine welcoming vibe and is happy to talk you through the food and what they can offer you. She welcomes you to tweak the dishes to your preference (if you want it more or less spicy, sweet etc). On to the food - this is what truly blew me away. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, which is my all-time favourite dish. I was skeptical because almost every time I try this dish at a new establishment it disappoints me, because what makes it so difficult to make is finding the right balance of sweet and salty. Let me tell you this was hands down the best Kung Pao Chicken I've ever had, and even one of the best things I've ever tasted. Genuinely blown away by how perfect the sauce was, and the chicken was incredibly tender in a beautifully light batter. I also had the egg fried rice and that was cooked to perfection. You've earned a lifetime customer and I urge anyone to try their food.

Our first time visit today in lapsi, our family enjoyed the food and taste was awesome. Devi service was really good, as a person she is a very nice and kind. We all felt very comfortable there. Overall, food taste fantastic.

This restaurant is easily my new favourite spot. For starters , we tried the chicken lollipop and fried Chicken momos which were so delicious and then for the main, we tried the Nepalese Fish curry with steamed rice .. definitely one of the best fish curry I’ve eaten in years . Can’t wait to come back to try more dishes . The staff is so friendly and very helpful . Definitely coming back soon.

If you are craving good Indo-Chinese food, this is the place to go to. I left this place happy and satisfied. Definitely coming back. Also Devi is super sweet and made our experience worth it.

Literally just finished a wonderful meal with a couple of mates. Friday night and unbelievably quiet in the restaurant, which gave us chance to speak with Devi, the manager. She's a delight, and made the evening even more memorable. Basically, great food, fabulous atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I highly endorse this restaurant. My spouse and I thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine and the atmosphere. As Nepalese individuals, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes and found them to be delicious with a flavorful taste. Puja, the host, was exceptionally amiable and attentive.

I ordered the Thai green curry, what a waste of money! Just opened tub, and it's more of a soup!!! No meat really, counted three mushrooms, just sauce! Wish I could upload a photo on here! Don't waste your money.

Absolutely fabulous in every way. The service was amazing; recommendations on point, lovely conversation and even some sharing of Nepalese music and culture. Absolutely spot on. Food was fantastic. Server was lovely. This place deserves to have it's praises sung, and be packed, and yet we were able to walk in. Please come and give this place some love so I can continue to enjoy it! Hot chicken momos were perfect, Himalayan lamb was fantastic. Never had spicy salad before, but that was also great. My new favorite restaurant.

What a hidden gem, from the kerbside this place does not have instant appeal but you will be very much surprised once you actually experience the service and food. It’s offers a cosy dining experience and the owner is very attentive and offers a personalised service, is friendly and chatty, makes you feel at home. She is very much a salt of the earth person. This place offers a varied menu (an indo chinese fusion). Every dish that we ordered from crispy duck to chicken noodle stir fry to butter chicken was cooked to perfection, very authentic and is some of best i have ever tasted. Please give this place a chance and i promise you will not be disappointed.

Such an amazing food probably the best Indian food in derby. I ordered food and opted for pickup but got late as I was travelling from Sheffield but they waited patiently and still gave me warm food. I highly recommend this place.

Some of the food was amazing, but I have never had peshwari on with strong cheese including in it before today. I went as part of a group of 19, and the service was horrendous. They were unable to manage our orders despite taking our individual names for each order. Starters came out within a quick time. However mains took ages and many accompaniments were not present and had to be ordered up to 5 times in repetition before they were delivered to the table. It is really sad that the quality of the food has been so denigrated by the poor service , when this was a pre-booking and there were only two tables other than ourselves within the restaurant prior to us, even receiving our main course.

Amazing food and service. Very busy when we came in and about delayed but the staff handled so perfectly. Will visit soon again. A place you must try for both amazing service and food. Very well satisfied

We had the most wonderful dining experience at The Lapsi Spice last night: a warm welcome, attentive service and really delicious food. Devi was a delight and made us feel very special. The menu is unique and varied, and the meals we chose reflected that diversity very successfully. We shall be going back as often as we can!

Food was delicious and very authentic. The Maccha Ko Jhol was very tender with rich flavours, hitting the mark. Devi was very attentive and showed a lot of interest, probably as we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. I hope to see the menu flourish and diversify further, as just because it is a multicuisine restaurant does not mean that the quality is substandard.

Food is by far the best I've ever had in derby/UK. I had himalayan lamb with usual acompliments and was amazing. Now for the slight downsides, the service was a little slow as we waited about 45 minutes for our food and there was only 3 tables in use. I had to go to the bar to get my beer as I'd asked for it at the table twice and nothing was coming my way. Lastly I paid £41 for my meal which consisted of himalayan lamb, garlic rice, garlic nan( didn't arrive to start with as they had forgot) portion of chips, 2 poppadoms and pickle tray and 2 cobra beers. Definitely will go back though as the food was amazing so was worth the odd mistake. 5* food !

Best Indian/Asian cuisine I've had in the UK by far. The Indian menu is separate from the main menu and you may need to ask. Being used to Indian cuisine around the world. I'm not a fan of the sweet curries in the UK. But ask for the Indian style and you get some of the best flavourful food you can get. Garlic Naan was fresh, crispy and flavourful. Excellent. Will definitely be back. Service was great as well.

Paid a visit to Lapsi Spice this evening 11/10/23 after hearing about and reading the reviews left by other visitors. It was very pleasant experience, I was attended to by the lovely waitress/hostess Devi who did her up most to make me feel comfortable which to me is Very important. I ordered Himalayan Lamb egg fried rice and a cheese naan, I enjoyed it all especially the naan that was piping hot and packed with cheese, the lamb was very flavoursome in a rich medium hot sauce ( I wish I'd ordered hotter for my personal taste) but all in all the whole meal was very nice. So I would recommend a visit to others. And at a price of £20 I was satisfied. Thank you Devi for your hospitality.

This place is amazing! Front of house, servers, chefs & of course the food is fantastic - and a fraction of the price of the options around the corner 👍 Visited after pub closing time. The staff had finished and were having a meeting when we arrived. They jumped up, restarted the kitchen and couldn't have been more helpful 😁

Amazing food and service! We had the chilli fried mogo for the starter which was incredible, Fish curry (macha ko jhol) was the best I’ve ever had and the Himalayan lamb was really tasty too. We’ll be coming back for sure.

Having the best equipment and decorations would not matter a restaurant is unable to prepare and serve food. A good restaurant knows how to purchase, preserve and prepare food to make sure its customers are being served the best quality dishes. The same thing is in Lapsi spice Multicuisine restaurant. I had an amazing experience with this. The product was exactly what I was looking for. I was so pleased with the service I received from this. Moreover, I really love their food that's why every weekend I visit Lapsi. I highly recommend everyone to visit there and enjoy their amazing food.

What an absolute gem of a restaraunt! Himalayan Lamb curry was superb, chilli fried mogo excellent, the garlic naan was perfect and the service was very good. I had lots of questions about the menu but nothing was too much trouble and everything was explained to me. Will definately be back to eat here again.

I enjoyed a fantastic meal with work colleagues. I tried all the dishes on the table and all were so full of flavour. The himalayan lamb curry was definitely the highlight tho. We will be returning again this week for more great food and the service and hospitality was spot on. Highly recommended.

Right from the moment we walked in, we couldn't of asked for anything more, from the service to the food was amazing and it is definitely a place we will be coming back to, if you don't try it, you are missing out on so much, we are full with food, drinks and thefront of house host interacted with us from the minute we stepped in up until the moment we left.

My partner is Thai and like spicy.not many non Thai people get it right.but this restaurant excited are expectations.very good if your party likes different options.
