An old school cafe. Great food, friendly service and value for money. One of the few places left with excellent filter coffee

We came across the Kabin cafe while on holiday, what a little gem. The staff where fantastic with our 2 Toddlers, moving tables arround so there was space for 2 highchairs and our double buggy. Food was home cooked and amazing. 6 of us eating ( all different meals) Food was great, staff were fantastic. 100% recommended for a lovely home cooked meal.

I feel I had write a review here on 2nd Aug as a disabled customers we were treated unfairly by your staff and people in cafe yes I understand it a small cafe and yes I'm on obese size but that don't give your staff the excuse to be nasty to me and to say to my friend because I'm obese I was putting people off there food is dam right Discrimination and rude if I was in way of people of geting out then why couldn't you say politely excuse me sir can you get up and move to one side so I could get out instead of complaining their are people all walk of life and we should all be treated equally and not be judge by appearance. How do you know if that person ain't got a medical reason why they are way they are. We had a lot of dirty looks from people and made my friend uncomfortable kindness so it was was not a good experience for us I definitely won't be going to a cafe that Discriminate due to disabilities. People need be aware how nasty and unkind this place is be aware if you disabled and got disabilities.

Took my nan for a cup of tea, went in to order- ladies working behind till were all squashed together and passing each other plates mugs etc.. no control over amount of people touching crockery! Plates of served food waiting to be taken out had a fly on them 🤮 decided to risk having a drink because I’d already got nan seated and she wouldn’t of been happy to leave but man I wanted to run already !!! Served tea on dirty plates and stained mugs. Went outside to filthy tables, filled ashtrays. Took one sip of tea and quickly realised it value t bags ! Weak and tasted like soil !! Owner / worker comes out to chat to a customer at next table , they stink of b.o. left after that . 🤮 avoid !

Enjoyed a few trips into here with my son and were very pleased with our meals - nothing out of the ordinary and that's what we like. Honest and home cooked food there and then. One of Clactons little treasures and a fine mug of tea or coffee you get there too! We'll definitely be returning. Thank you.

Stopped for breakfast, 9 of us including kids, so had to do some table rearranging. Only 1 lady doing everything but food was still served pretty quickly, it was tasty and bread was cut from a loaf rather then the pre cut loaves from a supermarket so much nicer. It doesn’t look much from the outside and the inside they have done what they can to make it look good but it’s all about the food and it’s definitely worth stopping there

It takes some doing to make every item on a plate taste of nothing. They have a 4 out of 5 hygiene rating but I wouldn’t be fooled. It’s so old fashioned it’s hilarious really. Everything feels slightly sticky and it’s dimly lit which is probably a good thing.

Thank you for such a warm and welcoming atmosphere both me and my friend enjoyed our cosy lunch without the hustle and bustle of a noisy over crowded restaurant. Food was lovely and so much to choose from at great value for money prices.

Whilst on holiday in Clacton we were looking for cheap places to eat and we stopped at this cafe to read the menu. We had seen the cafe many times in the past but had never really looked inside nor read the menu board. this time we read it and saw that the prices were very reasonable, so we went inside for lunch. We ordered egg and chips at only £2.20 each and a big mug of tea at £1 per mug. The cafe is very small inside and they have squeezed in as many tables and chairs as they could comfortably fit.. It was quite busy, but we were very lucky to find an empty table near to the front window. Although there were only two people doing everything, including the cooking, we were served our food in a surprisingly quick time. There were sauces on a table at the side, and we could go there and take them, and the food was piping hot, as it was cooked fresh to order. It tasted very nice. There is some outdoor seating at the side of the restaurant, but it can get quite windy there, and I saw the tables were all taken by smokers. The cafe looked clean and the lady who took our order and served us was very friendly. The only thing I would have changed was the way the tea came to us as a teabag in a mug with milk already in the mug. It was a bit too milky for me, but it was good, nevertheless, so not really a complaint. We will definitely return in January when we are back in Clacton for 3 days!

We were in the area for just a couple of nights, and booked a meal here on the strength of Tripadvisor reviews, which proved to be correct. It was an excellent meal, and good value.

What they don't tell schools on educational visits, is they don't accept kids debit cards. Not sure if it's they don't accept Mastercard. 🤔
