The Highfield Hotel in Sunderland

Gorgeous rooms, huge very comfy bed, nice bathroom. Had burgers in the bar and they were delicious. Lovely place!

A bit thorough information for arrivals and availability at late hours. More clear breakfast menu, maybe even a bit more variaty. In general great stay.

A pleasant stay for a couple of nights, rooms are very comfortable and well looked after. Breakfast very nice. Though a machine that doesn't know the difference between an espresso or an americano. Evening food OK, the Thai is expensive and the menu a bit samey, the pub menu is poor in my opinion. Who advertises a gourmet burger at £13 that is just a beef burger in a brioche bun with salad, no cheese, no sauce nothing. All the extras are like a quid for cheese, bacon etc. And my info leaflet in my room was out of date so I couldn't even try the pub food cos they stop serving at 20.15 on a Sunday despite the leaflet saying 21.30. Despite my grumbles, a very pleasant hotel. I would recommend if you need a stop over in the area.

Lovely, clean room. Very welcoming staff, honestly really nice people. About 10 minutes away from the beach. The bar area/Thai restaurant was exactly what we needed after a long hard day, really looking forward to our next stay. Update 17.1.25.. came back because I wanted to try the cheesecake 😁👌 not really but it had run out last time so had dinner earlier this time... It was as delicious as the starter and main 🤩💙

Room was clean although very hot, it was -7 outside and hot inside but not uncomfortable. Great location for Sunderland Live Arena.

Rooms are large and well presented. Service was fine. Could have been a little faster. The food was great 👍🏽 The main thing that let's it down. Is it's next to s very busy road.

Brilliant rooms! Plenty of parking, stayed for 3 nights on Buisness and loved the place. Thai restaurant on site also and a bar area adjoining serving English and Thai food for those that are working and prefer the relaxed venue like me. All 3 nights had different Thai dishes and all were so nice. Friendly staff and clean and tidy! Will be back if in the area again

Excellent food and fantastic service

Small hotel outside if Durham but perfectly placed as 30 seconds from park and ride. Family suite room was fantastic value. Everything was clean and service was with a smile. Only slide downside was large car park behind was poorly surfaced and not great for my elderly mum. Thai resteraunt on site had good food and reasonable price. Recommended.

Stayed here a few times, Pretty basic accomodation but it does the job. Very handy having a pub and a Thai restaurant attached to it.

The Star of Siam, their Tai restaurant is absolutely amazing. Monday night at 6.25 and it's really busy. Authentic taste and great service. It's always a treat to eat here . I thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Vegetarian menu is great too . Looking forward to going again.

Perfect location for visiting a client. Rooms clean to good standard. Beds comfy. Bathroom decent enough. Didn’t eat here as I had dinner plans. Would stay again

Fantastic meal in the Thai restaurant. As always food was 1st class as was the staff. One of our favourite restaurants.

4th time of staying here, very friendly can't do enough for you room always immaculate beds really comfortable haven't used the restaurant in any of our 4 visits but always ordered off the bar menu super quality food. Found the Highfield in a brilliant position for visiting the area. Would stay any where else while in the area.

Rooms are ok for what you pay, couldn't see much difference between the standard double and the executive double, staff are polite and professional, cooked breakfast is rationed and definitely not worth the money

A great, peaceful place, perfect for a relaxing break.
