Stopped in for dinner on a week night. From the outside, the building was plain and unassuming. But when we stepped in the door, we were surprised by the modern and spacious accommodations. The owners clearly had invested a great deal of time and money into making a gem in the country setting. We ordered fish&chips and skirt steak. The food came out quickly and was in generous portions. Everything was fresh and tasty. We were happy with the results. For some reason the outside bar area was closed, otherwise we may have stayed longer to hang out and talk. Regardless, we highly recommend The Head O The Road.

This was our first time there and won't be our last. The food was was fantastic, everything was cooked to perfection. We would highly recommend the lamb my wife had, the flavours were a delight and was cooked to perfection, as was everything. But venues are only as good as their staff and although some were younger, their service and manners were exemplary. My wife was stealing my flake of my sundae when a waitress was at our table, next thing she appeared with two more, without even being asked, a lovely touch. So please visit, it is hard to find a gem, so this is it.

Disappointed there was no fillet steaks but had the sirloin and it was really good my family all had chicken and they said it was very nice too

The food here was amazing! Some of the best food I've ever had. I had the tiger prawn starter, pan-seared salmon main, and raspberry creme brulee. There were so many good options on the menu that I had difficulty deciding. The staff were super attentive and friendly, even on a busy Saturday night. And they were kind enough to seat me even though I got there after 8pm and didnt have a booking. I will definitely go back.

Our first visit.Everyone says how great the food is , sadly ours was ok but nothing special Felt like it was sitting under a heat lamp for some time. We finished our food and could not complain about it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Hopefully next time the food will impress a tad more.

I booked a table when I arrived with my wife and baby's there refused me because I'm an Irish traveller

Great spot for a Sunday lunch. I think we got lucky as we had not booked but the food was excellent, service friendly and prompt. The place itself was cozy and more importantly spotlessly clean.

Last minute choice for a treat meal for me and my teen daughter. You get what you pay for, food prices may seem high but I would say that they are the going rate for the area and the experience. Food was faultless. Staff polite and attentive at the right times... Will 100% be back again soon. Highly recommend...

Wow what an excellent place for food and drink. Really enjoyed the fish and chips and florence had the sizzling chicken. Very reasonable price for all of us too. Highly recommended for families with children. Definitely worth a visit ☺️ it was for Jim's birthday and mother's day next week.

We were situated at a table at the far end of the restaurant ...no one at all in the same area...the place wasn't busy so I don't know why we were situated there...the staff weren't friendly and the food was just OK...wont be back!!!

Cant fault the place, should it be a birthday, anniversary or just a treat... the food is outstanding, service is with a smile and some craic. Never had a bad experience here.

Had a superb meal last evening. Christmas dinner was unreal highly recommend Brie as starter and Salted caramel ice cream sundae for dessert. So mouth watering 😊😊😊 Staff were so attentive and friendly, great Christmas atmosphere.Could not fault one thing, you will find no comparison elsewhere

The best place for miles around. Long established family business now owned by the son John. Remembered me after 6 years since my last visit from across the water. Great homely food and atmosphere. (The champ was grand).

We were a large group and the place was flat out. Food and service were still top notch

First impressions are lasting and after my first visit today I will have no hesitation in returning. From the moment we stepped through the door we were made to feel like regulars. I ordered ribeye steak, cooked very rare (blue). My wife ordered the chicken stack. This must be the only time my steak has been cooked to my liking. It was excellent, as were the chunky chips, onion rings and mushroom. The peppered sauce was really nice too, not too peppery and neither devoid of taste. My wife's meal consisted of two fillets if chicken, served on a sumptuous bed of champagne and again with the peppered sauce. Again this for her was right on point. Dessert was one cheese cake and a sticky toffee pudding. The portions were generous and again really nice. When you have a first visit to a restaurant which goes so well you will definitely want to go back. A nice wee bonus was being able to pay a personal compliment to the chef and his team on the way out. Often times patrons never get a chance to tell them how much we appreciate their efforts. Beautiful restaurant, have been on Saturday and Sunday - menus on both days are brilliant. The Sunday lunch is the best about! Staff are all very friendly and helpful - bring the kids food out as soon as its ready which is brilliant! Highly recommend 👌

Nice family friendly country bar and restaurant. Can get a bit noisy with kids sometimes but generally a nice atmosphere. Would recommend a visit as food is good.

Went there today for the first time with a large family group. The waiter who greeted us was very friendly and welcoming. The service throughout was exceptional, the food was excellent. Will definitely be back and highly recommended it.

..becoming a favorite.. well worth a trip in to the countryside.. Sunday roast, in before 3pm & maybe a Calypso coffee for dessert..

Went for lunch on a Sunday . Lovely place . Main course was gorgeous for both . Tried desert but have to say guys you need to look at having a nicer coffee . Thought it wasn’t great taste . The desert we chose was the lemon roulade and thought it was a little like a sorta “ bought in taste “ as opposed to that lovely baked option that I had sorta hoped for . Might help as we both said if we went back we wouldn’t go for desert or coffee if we thought it was the same . Maybe we picked the wrong desert but just mentoring it to help .

Best meal we've had in a long time! We have dined at The Head O The Road twice and both times have surpassed expectations. Serving Outcider on tap and a menu with something to suit everyone. One of my favourites!

A lovely spot for dinner, food is delicious with a nice wide range and varied menu. Cannot fault the service levels as we were made to feel welcome. Highly recommend.

I have been to head o theroad several times now and it’s such a lovely restaurant, the food is delicious, good quality and value for money while the staff are all exceptionally welcoming and can’t do enough for you, went with friends earlier this evening and will be back for certainty, can’t recommend this place enough

Was here for stag party meal, a very unassuming place, very pleasant staff that dealt with 22 fellas who couldn't remember what they had ordered very patiently and professionally and the food was great... definitely will be back in the future....👍

Fantastic quite place to spend some time with family and tasty food

Had my wife's 40th birthday dinner here on a Saturday afternoon and the service was brilliant. We were able to pre-order all the food ahead so there was no messing about. Thankfully my wife is predictable & I knew what she'd go for. There was 1 hiccup on my part in the orders but the staff were great at sorting with no fuss. Clear plates all round! Food was so tasty but portion sizes were decent too. We'll be back again..... cause we love it here!

Our son told us about this place and said food was first class. So my husband and i tried it . And he was right. My husband had the steak and i had the beef stir fry. It was lovely and the staff very attentive and very friendly.

Prior to yesterday had never heard of this place. Glad I came across it on Google. Slightly remote, about 7/8 miles from Portadown, a lovely wee bar, good sized restaurant, open kitchen, friendly staff, a good pint of Guinness and really hearty tasty food. Really worth the trip out, the burger, chips, chicken sizzler and garlic cubes were all delicious. Empty plates all round. Would definitely recommend.

5 stars 🌟 wouldn't be enough for this place , if u want good food with great taste and first klass service then I'd highly recommend you give here a try. I will definitely rate this place highly .

This place is way to expensive 85 pounds for 4 meals and 4 glasses of coke and the portions were abysmal for the price a cup of chips with latterly 10 chips in it i dont mind paying for good food but this place was shocking in all aspects even the table service
