Fantastic value for money, great food cooked while you wait, they say breakfast sets you up for the day well the large breakfast will keep you going all day and more. It was the only place open when the boat comes in at 7.00 but was an oasis on a dreich morning, superb.

Got of the boat like most others on this Sunday morning and initially resistant to a full english we looked around, but nothing else was open. Silly of us really because this is the best breakfast we could have had! Perfectly cooked and lovely homely service despite being so busy! They even let me add real sausages to my vegetarian breakfast without raising an eyebrow which you usually get now a days

Missed the restaurant on the overnight ferry for dinner and breakfast so needed something to keep me going untill the planned dinner at 7pm In the hotel. This place opens early and was a great find. No frills but a good quality wholesome breakfast with coffee and toast and more food than enyone could ask for. Obviously popular with the locals who were in and out constantly getting both takeaway rolls and sit in breakfasts.

When we arrived in Lerwick with the ferry early in the morning, we were of course looking for somewhere to have something to eat and drink; and this little gem in a side street provided us with one of the best breakfasts we've ever had! The place is warm, cosy and beautiful, with a stunning wall painting of the harbour at the far end, the service is quick and very friendly, the prices are real low, and the tea and dishes are piping hot and absolutely scrumptious!

I was recently on a cruise that stopped at Lerwick in the Shetland Isles. Having time to kill on a Sunday morning before our pre booked trip we popped into the New Harbour Cafe just off the sea front. The place is obviously primarily for workers (probably fishermen) from the harbour and surrounding town so is pretty basic with wooden benches and little in the way of luxuries. However the breakfast offering was huge, of good quality ,very well cooked and at prices I could hardly believe. Thoroughly recommended.

I popped in yesterday (20/07/19) to grab a roll for lunch. I ordered and then I noticed the girl behind the food counter holding her trainer and scrubbing it with a toothbrush. When the young lad who served me turned to tell her my order she put the toothbrush on a counter with food on it, and went directly to pull a roll from the box. The young boy said “don’t you need to wash your hands” she sighed, gave him a look and begrudgingly went and washed her hands. I took the roll but dumped it outside as I was horrified and quite frankly felt sick. I’ve eaten here quite a few times and now I’m seriously questioning their hygiene procedures. Won’t be going back.

When you think of a greasy spoon cafe you are in for a disappointment. One of the best breakfasts I have had. Even though it is a busy cafe frequented by locals and visitors you will be delighted by the breakfast served within a matter of minutes. No grease, just good produce, well cooked and at a very reasonable price. If there is a downside it will be the seating, which is kiosk style booth table and wooden bench seats. Not the most comfortable, but adequate for a cafe. There appeared toe an extensive menu for adults and a kids menu as well as takeaways. All in all very good value and worth a visit.

It needs a good lick of paint, and a bit of a boost. The food itself is exactly what you would expect - nothing fancy or spectacular, but it fills a hole. I'd describe it as a bit fo agreasy spoon. The main issue with this place is the clientèle it keeps. The staff are fine, they know what they're doing. The service is fine and you're always dealt with very quickly. The other customers are the issue - maybe because it's cheap and warm, I'm not sure, but this place has attracted the wrong kind of people. It's fine for a takeaway, but I'd recommend not to stay for any longer than you need to.

The staff were really friendly and when we ordered a cup of tea, we got a lovely, homey tea pot. I ordered mince and potatoes (because I had never seen something as basic as that on a menu) and it was delicious. Some Americans were a little put out that it did not take credit cards but we had made the effort to get local currency. There were many locals there and that is always a good sign.

A cup of coffee and a sassermaet sandwich was quite cheap and filling enough to last us until lunchtime. One of us chose the regular breakfast, the other one went for the XXL version. The regular breakfast was ample, and you won't leave hungry after having had the XXL breakfast! Both were good, nothing to complain about. First there were not many guests, but it became busier later. Mostly locals, it seemed. The staff was friendly and quick. Does what it says on the tin. Great value, service with a smile, big breakfasts. On a budget ? good place to go. First place to visit when coming off early morning ferry. Get some bacon and eggs down yer with a mug of tea or coffee. Easy parking opposite on Victoria pier.

I walked into the Harbour Cafe just last week because a relative of mine has come back from Edinburgh. We had our breakfasts here and we were very, very disappointed from the fact that the sausages had minimal meat and the toast was soggy. The tea was just like dishwater and I couldn't drink the whole cup. Also, the picture on the wall was very inaccurate. Much more of a disaster, it was a bombshell of a site.

Right by the ferry terminal so the ideal place to wait for a crossing. This is popular with workmen and with families. They serve a wide range of food and drinks. From snacks to full meals. From breakfasts to afternoon teas. I enjoyed a coffee and a tray bake. Would have called in twice more during my visit to Yell but it was closed.

It’s more of a good cafe than a restaurant and it is also a caravan and motorhome site plus wigwams ( colourful wooden weatherproof huts). It’s at Braewick not Brae which is 15 miles south. It has all the facilities that a caravan/ motorhome site needs. Electric hook up, drive over drains, black water disposals, clean water available, good parking surfaces. Problem is it takes a bit of finding these facilities! Even the pitches take a bit of locating as only a couple are numbered. All the rest have been washed off, blown away etc. The showers are looking old and are difficult to manage. There is a playground and the beach is 5 mins walk but bear in mind this is 1000 km north of London, nearest neighbours are Iceland and Norway so the water is refreshing. But the views are spectacular cliffs of red rock and in the sea a set of rock stacks (the drongs) look like a Viking longship turned to stone. Wonderful to look at at midnight. You might see Foula, 40 plus km away. There are blow holes through the cliffs, take care. The Northmavine musicians play at Hillswickplus informal dancing for a great night out but it’s a 5 minute drive or an hours walk. Great place just needs an update.

What a privilege to enjoy the Cullen skink and fish and chip meal. This is an out of the way place to visit but should be on everybody's Journey! they do not serve lunch until 12:00 sharp! no exceptions! So instead I had a shot of the whiskey liqueur at 11:00 in the morning; whereas, the locals were consistently coming in and getting a breakfast sandwich made on a homemade roll. Btw, it is inside the fishery University on the main floor. the food was amazing!
